NXT star Carmella recently spoke with the official website of the NFL’s New England Patriots about her past job as a cheerleader for the organization. After the main roster call-ups of Enzo and Big Cass, Carmella has embarked on a new journey to establish herself as a challenger to Asuka’s NXT Women’s championship.
When asked how similar she really is to her NXT character, Carmella told Patriots.com lifestyle editor Angelique Fiske,
“She actually is a lot like me. She’s fun, high energy, and I don’t really take anything from anybody. I’m going to stand up for myself. She’s fabulous. I love fashion, and I try to incorporate that.”
Having very limited in-ring training prior to starting with NXT, Carmella had to learn on the job and make the most of everything she had learned up until that point. She’s now reached a level of confidence in her wrestling ability:
“[The thing I’ve learned about myself is] probably just the fact that anything I can put my mind to, I can do,” she said. “I really wasn’t sure when I started. I’m very confident in my ability to learn, but every time I’m in the ring, I can’t believe the things I can do and that I’ve learned. It’s been really crazy. I see a move and it looks so hard and then I can do it. The coolest thing I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter how long it takes me, I’ll do it over and over until I get it.”
