CM Punk Reflects on WWE Return Anniversary: “We’re Just Getting Started”

CM Punk is feeling grateful on the one-year anniversary of his epic return to WWE, and has promised that there’s plenty more to come. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the Chicago-Made star reflected on his return at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 in his hometown.

“Happy one year anniversary of my rerun to WWE. Thank you to all the fans for waiting, chanting my name for years an carrying me on this journey. Thank you to my family and friends backstage for the warmth and continued support. Thank you to Paul [Levesque,] Nick [Khan] and Bruce [Prichard] for the trust and making it all happen. Love you all! We are just getting started!”

Punk’s heartfelt message was juxtaposed with an image of Seth Rollins’ volatile response to Punk’s return last year. Rollins’ response, which wasn’t shown during Punk’s return, blurred the lines of reality and kayfabe and left fans pondering whether the two had real ‘heat.’ Despite a feud being teased, the pair have yet to compete, thanks in part to both men missing periods of 2024 due to injuries.

What’s Next?

Punk’s immediate future will see him enter WarGames this weekend at Survivor Series to team with the OG Bloodline against Solo Sikoa’s faction. Punk has also spoken of challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship when the time is right, a title that’s been held by GUNTHER since SummerSlam in August. Whatever comes next, Punk is seeing a long future ahead of him in WWE, just one year after the AEW alum made his return that shocked the world.
