As many fans and oddsmakers expected, Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowan have retained the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles.
Bryan and Rowan beat Heavy Machinery to retain the titles in their latest defense at Sunday’s WWE Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event. This show took place in Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome.
WWE made the match announcement on last Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live after an exchange of words between the two teams recently on television.
Bryan and Rowan beat The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) to win the titles that were vacant at the time on the May 7th episode of SmackDown Live in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum Center.
The pairing came at a time when WWE needed new champions as back on April 30th episode of SmackDown Live, The Hard Boys (Jeff & Matt Hardy) had to vacate the straps due to Jeff undergoing surgery on his right knee that will keep him out of action for a long time.
As a result, it ended Bryan’s time in the main event scene as a key player on SmackDown Live and wrapped up his program with WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, who has been feuding with Dolph Ziggler as of late.
Bryan and Rowan didn’t work the previous pay-per-view event, Super ShowDown earlier this month in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to Bryan unwilling to travel to the country.
