UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier continues to speak out on his fight with fellow UFC champion and former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar not happening.
While doing a recent interview, Cormier made it known that while he was disappointed that it didn’t happen, he can’t worry about something that is out of his control.
“I was disappointed,” Cormier told TMZ Sports. “I wanted to fight Brock. I’ve known Brock for a long time. I’ve always been a fan of his and we had that great moment at UFC 226. So the build was gonna be fun, but you can only really worry about things that you can control. I can’t control that he doesn’t want to fight anymore. He’s done.”
Cormier did give credit to the UFC and Lesnar trying to get the fight booked but things do not always go as planned. While he doesn’t know what exactly happened to make the deal not happen, he thinks WWE gave Lesnar a great deal.
With Lesnar retiring from MMA competition, this nixed plans as the UFC had been trying to get a fight done between Lesnar and Cormier for an event in August.
