WWE had several stars at Wednesday’s ESPY Awards that was highlighted with Roman Reigns winning “Best WWE Moment,” which was the first time that WWE had its own category as part of this special event.
Reigns, RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon were all in attendance. ESPN has released this video of UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier with Triple H where the two men hinted at seeing “DC” make the transition from pro-MMA competition to the world of pro wrestling.
Cormier won an ESPY Award for best MMA fighter at this ceremony. You can read their exchange here:
Cormier: “I was hoping to fight Brock Lesnar, but he didn’t. These guys took him from me. Maybe I’ll follow him over there.”
Triple H: “It’s not too late.”
Cormier: “Yeah, we can do it in WWE.”
With Lesnar retiring from MMA competition, this nixed plans as the UFC had been trying to get a fight done between Lesnar and Cormier for an event in August. Now, Cormier is scheduled to defend the title in a rematch against Stipe Miocic on August 17, 2019 at the UFC 241 pay-per-view event.
