“Die Rocky Die” Trends On Social Media After The Rock’s Explosive WWE SmackDown Segment

The Rock knows how to get under fans’ skin, and he went all out with his heel work on the road to WrestleMania 40. Now, it seems that the fan outrage has carried over into bringing an old phrase back for a new era.

Following WWE SmackDown’s March 1st episode, a peculiar trend emerged: “Die Rocky Die.” Now that phrase is blowing up social media after WWE censored a fan sign during the show.

Die Rocky Die

Social media buzzed with reactions after the broadcast momentarily blacked out to avoid displaying a fan’s sign bearing the contentious phrase “Die Rocky Die.” Some users speculated it was merely a mistranslation of “The Rocky The” in German, prompting amusement rather than offense. Needless to say, fans were talking.

However, the incident stirred discussions about censorship and support for The Rock. While many fans expressed disbelief at the sign’s presence, others highlighted the ongoing efforts to stifle such sentiments. As we reported last night, that “Die Rocky Die” sign was the reason why SmackDown was blacked out a few times during the segment.

Overall, the trending topic sparked a mix of confusion, humor, and scrutiny, demonstrating the unpredictable nature of live television and fan interactions. We will have to see if fans will start bringing back that throwback phrase, because it was one of the first negative responses in the 90s that The Rock received from the crowd to really spark his heel turn.

What’s Next For The Rock in WWE

The Rock’s segment on SmackDown this week went way over time. I was told that he went over by “A LOT.” That being said, the company did not include any photos of him on the company’s website for their SmackDown gallery. That is very interesting considering the fact that he was on television for around 20 minutes.

If anything, now that WWE fans know that the company doesn’t want them to say “Die Rocky Die,” it kind of gives them a brand-new reason to dust off that old chant and sign.

SEScoops will have more coverage of The Rock’s road to WrestleMania 40, no matter what fans think of it.
