Eli Drake On Signing With NWA Over WWE And AEW

Eli Drake explains why he signed with NWA over WWE and AEW

Eli Drake was released from Impact earlier this year and many believed that he might end up in WWE or AEW after his release from the company. However, he recently announced that he has signed a contract with NWA.

During his recent appearance on The Steve Austin Show, the now-former Impact star talked about a number of things and explained why he didn’t sign with WWE or AEW.

According to Drake, WWE had shown interest in him for the past few years but he stayed in Impact because they kept giving him a raise. On the other hand, he had a deal worked out with AEW earlier this year but it fell apart:

“There [has] been interest from WWE for the last 3 years, but I kept turning them down because Impact kept giving me raises. AEW, there was interest there. We kind of had a deal worked out, but that ended up falling through. And then, I talked to Ring Of Honor. I talked to NWA. The most appealing offer I had was from NWA.”

Eli Drake made his Impact Wrestling debut in February 2015 and he won a number of championships during his time with the company including the Impact World Heavyweight Championship once.

However, Drake who criticized intergender wrestling refused to work a match with Tessa Blanchard and he was subsequently released from his contract in April earlier this year.
