Ex-Tough Enough Winner Provides Update on Battle With Brain Tumor

Matt Cappotelli

Earlier this year, ex-WWE Tough Enough season three winner Matt Cappotelli announced that his brain tumor had returned after having it removed 10 years ago, and this time much more aggressively. He underwent his second surgery to have the tumor removed, however, there was a portion in his brainstem that was inoperable and doctors were waiting on a pathology report to get back before treating it any further.

Cappotelli took to Facebook to announce that the pathology report as returned and determined the tumor was, in fact, malignant. He has been diagnosed with grade IV GlioBlastoma Multiforme (GBM) and will undergo a spinal tap Friday to determine if the cancer has spread to his cerebral spinal fluid. He will meet with doctors next week to discuss treatment options:

“Update: Diagnosis is in. I have a grade IV GlioBlastoma Multiforme (GBM). This is not the news I was looking forward to hearing or sharing, but it will in no way deter me from continuing my fight. Spinal tap this Friday will determine if the cancer cells have spread to my spinal fluid. Monday is a follow up with my team of doctors to determine the treatment steps needed to beat this. Thanx to everyone on #TEAMCAPP”
