On the September 13, edition of WWE SmackDown, Kevin Owens was set to team with a mystery partner to face A-Town Down Under. When Owens’ original partner Randy Orton was late to the show, the Prizefighter brought out a last-minute replacement named Ricky. Just before the match began though, Owens learned that Orton had arrived in time, and quickly ended his make-shift partnership with Ricky.
Gibson is the latest name on the ever-growing list of men Kevin Owens has betrayed, and fans have rallied behind the would-be tag-team partner of the former Universal Champion. On Twitter, the hashtag #WeWantRicky trended after his appearance on SmackDown and several fans shared their support for Gibson.
On Instagram, fans flocked to Gibson’s account and shared messages in support of him after his appearance on WWE SmackDown.
The well of support for Ricky has continued to grow since SmackDown, so much so that Owens himself has chimed in, sharing his thanks to Ricky for filling in for Orton, and an apology for the stunner.
