WWE’s Emmy hopes just went up in flames.
Earlier this year WWE took part in a “FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION” event and were on the Emmy preliminary ballots for the following:
Best Documentary or Non-Fiction Special
- WWE 24: Empowered
- Andre the Giant documentary
Outstanding Structured Reality Program
- Mixed Match Challenge
- Monday Night Raw
Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program:
- Total Bellas
- Total Divas
Outstanding Variety Special (live)
- WrestleMania 34
Today (Thurs. July 12, 2018) the final 2018 nominations for the 70th annual Emmy awards were announced. WWE didn’t make the cut for any of the categories. This was the first year that WWE was even able any of their programs to the preliminary ballot.
On the other hand, Netflix’s original GLOW series did get nominated for a few Emmy categories. The show was nominated for the “Best Comedy” category. Betty Gilpin of GLOW was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy. Finally, Jesse Peretz was nominated for Best Directing Of A Comedy Series For GLOW’s pilot episode.
