Former WWE Superstar Jake Hager (Jack Swagger) recently spoke with Steven Muehlhausen of SportingNews.com to promote his MMA debut after signing with the Viacom-owned promotion, Bellator MMA, back in November 2017.
Hager is slated to compete in his first professional Mixed-Martial-Arts fight at Bellator 214 against J.W. Kiser in a heavyweight showdown.
The former WWE star, who is a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, ECW Champion, and United States Champion who’s stint with the company lasted from 2006 to 2017, is hopeful that he’ll be able to use the Jack Swagger name in his second fight.
“I still have a very good relationship with WWE. That’s why they are allowing R-Truth to perform my entrance on Saturday. I thought that was a very good sign from them. It’s a little bit of writing on the wall from them. As far as the Jack Swagger name, they do not have it trademarked. I’m in the process of trademarking the name. I know there’s a singer who has it trademarked for musical performances. But, this isn’t music (laughs). I think I have a good chance of owning it down the line. I won’t have the name for this fight, but hopefully, by the second fight it will be Jack Swagger.”
Hager also discusses the one difference between him, Lesnar and CM Punk, the degree of difficulty of getting punched in the face and more. The interview can be found here.
