Due to the experience of working various roles in WWE for more than 2 decades, Jim Ross has got to know Vince McMahon like only a few people do. And during the latest episode of his Grilling J.R. podcast, the former WWE star opened up about his relationship with the Chairman of the company.
Ross first discussed how McMahon has overachieved things in his entire life. Talking about his relationship with the Boss, he said that in his heart Vince knows that he can reach out to JR if he ever needed him for something as a friend and the same goes for the former WWE employee as well:
“Vince McMahon has overachieved his entire life in a big way. I got to know him really well and still have great respect for him, He knows in his heart that if he needed me for anything that strongly or that serious, as a personal favor or as his friend, that I would be there no doubt. And the same goes for me.”
The AEW commentator then claimed that Vince would respond quickly if the need to reach out to him ever occurred and he went on to recall how the WWE Chairman helped him during the time his wife passed away in 2017 after a car accident:
“I know that in my personal life, if something occurred and I needed to reach out to him, I know that he would respond quickly and positively, so I always believe that he has a very good heart in that respect. I can’t tell you all of the good things that he did and said and offered when Jan, [my wife], got killed. That means a lot to me, folks.”
Later in the episode, the current AEW star also discussed the well known workaholic nature of Mr. McMahon saying that he thinks McMahon is obsessed with the company that he has built. Jim continued by saying that while he doesn’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing, he thinks that there is nothing more prominent in Vince’s life than WWE.
Apart from this, Jim Ross recalled how his wife Jan used to compare Vince McMahon to the likes of Michael Jackson and Walt Disney as people who have created their own world so they can be the king of it. You can check out the episode of his podcast where he talks about Mr McMahon at this link.
