Over the weekend, WWE held the first round of tapings for the new United Kingdom Championship LIVE series, coming soon to the WWE Network.
On Monday, Jim Ross revealed that he and Nigel McGuinness will be calling the action for the show. In his latest blog at JRsBarBQ.com, JR wrote:
“I’m excited to announce that I will join the talented Nigel McGuinness to broadcast the recently taped, WWE matches from Norwich, England and these bouts will air on the WWE Network soon.
Happy for this opportunity to call bouts involing new wrestlers, for me, and a new broadcast partner which freshens up all facets of the process.”
This is a big get for WWE’s United Kingdom brand and a sign that WWE is committed to its success.
Jim Ross returned to WWE’s announcing booth at WrestleMania 33 when he called the Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns main event. Ross signed a new multi-year deal with WWE during WrestleMania weekend and this is his first assignment since then.
Other topics discussed in this blog include whether or not JR thinks Hulk Hogan will ever appear on WWE TV again, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s upcoming shows in the Los Angeles area and Ring of Honor parent company Sinclair Broadcasting purchasing Tribune Media.
