Fear not, John Cena fans – the ‘Face That Runs The Place’ will be back on WWE television in a little over a month’s time.
Cena is currently taking time off to film his next movie, The Pact, about three parents who try to stop their daughters from following through with a prom night pact to lose their virginity.
Cena announced on Tuesday night that he’ll be back July 4th.
Bittersweet day today as I begin another night in Atlanta. Such a funny movie but #SDLive @WWE is so close! 7/4 can't get here fast enough!

John Cena’s Return to Smackdown
The July 4th return date for Cena means he will have 3 weeks before the Smackdown brand’s “Battleground” PPV on July 23rd. The brand’s July PPV will be WWE’s last until SummerSlam on August 20th.
As plans recently changed on Smackdown due to Jinder Mahal’s title push, it is not clear who Cena will be entering a program with when he returns. Following SummerSlam, WWE has planned live events in India. Jinder Mahal will need a challenger for those shows if he is still champion, and Cena is a likely candidate for the role.
