John Cena Talks About Being A WWE Lifer, Being Nervous For WrestleMania Engagement

John Cena

John Cena spoke to Fox News this week promote his new movie The Wall, which hits theaters today. Cena spoke in-depth about proposing to longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella at WrestleMania and when he will retire from WWE.

When asked about why he was compelled to get engaged on such a public stage, Cena said WWE is his home and he had no problem sharing that moment with everybody.

“That was the most nervous I have ever been in my entire life and not only was I worried about her response but I was worried about the reaction of the 75,000 people of the Camping World Stadium,” Cena admitted. “I didn’t know that they would react in such a positive way, and I’m forever indebted to our fans for being able to allow me to celebrate the greatest moment of my life.”

He added that wedding plans are already underway, but things are still “very ground floor right now” and he expects the process to get fun when they get closer to the wedding.

Cena has been a fixture of the WWE Universe since his debut 15 years ago. After such a long career and with Cena’s Hollywood career picking up, naturally he was asked about when he’ll hang it up. And naturally, being the company man he is, Cena gave a predictable answer.

“As far as the performance level it’s definitely a business for the young and I am on the older side of young but I don’t think I’ll ever not be involved with the WWE. They will have to tell me that they no longer need my services because it is my home.”
