John Morrison Appears On WWE Friday Night SmackDown

John Morrision is back

John Morrison appeared on WWE television which marked his official WWE return as he did so on WWE Friday Night SmackDown with a backstage appearance. 

Morrison appeared in a segment on Friday’s episode in Memphis, TN at the FedExForum on FOX. This marked his first appearance on WWE television in years.

The segment before saw Kofi Kingston pin The Miz in a short singles match. After the match, Miz attacked Kingston from behind. Big E rushed into the ring only for  Miz quickly escaped to ringside.

Morrison’s return happened when a backstage interviewer was trying to get a comment from The Miz but Morrison answered the door to his dressing room instead. 

It was reported that Morrison had agreed to a deal to return to WWE back in September. Several weeks ago, WWE and Morrison confirmed the signing. 

During his first stint with WWE, Morrison found success both as a singles and tag team star including a run with Miz where they were tag team champions. 

Morrison, who worked for the company between 2002 and 2011, stayed busy outside of the company. He worked for promotions such as Lucha Underground, AAA and Impact Wrestling over the last nine years.

Morrison had been under contract with the promotion since 2017 where he became a top star for them with his Mayor of Slamtown” persona. He also became a top star for the El Rey Network’s Lucha Underground promotion where he performed as Johnny Mundo.
