Kane told WBIR NBC in Knoxville, TN that he’s seriously considering a run for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018. He will decide towards the end of the year after the presidential election. Kane noted that he would run as a Republican.
The job would earn about $170,00 each year. Kane would oversee around 1,000 employees and a $750 million budget if he were elected.
Kane commented on his political philosophy:
“What I’ve seen in Knox County the past several years is that taxes have remained low because it’s a great place to live. People move here and that helps expands the tax base. My political philosophy is the ‘smaller the better. Government should stay out of the way and let free enterprise do what it does best.”
