Kofi Kingston has remained on top of the mountain in the WWE as “The Viper” wasn’t the man to end his reign as the WWE Champion.
Kingston and Randy Orton went to a double count-out at the SummerSlam event. Post-match, Kofi hit Orton several times with a kendo stick.
WWE SummerSlam 2019 Results & Live Coverage (8/11)
This match was made official on July 23 episode of SmackDown Live once Kingston issued a challenge for SummerSlam. Instead of allowing someone to come out, he noted that he would like to choose his opponent. He would then call out Orton, who proceeded to come out.
As fans were hoping, WWE went with the right move according to many fans by bringing up their past. Kingston brought up their history back in 2009 with Kingston famously hitting the boom drop from the stands through a table on Orton at Madison Square Garden.
Orton would bring up how he did use his influence to keep Kingston out of the main event scene and that he was right that he to hold Kingston back.
Kingston’s reign started when he knocked off Daniel Bryan as the WWE Champion at the WWE WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event.
This marks the first time that Kingston has held the WWE Title or a major World Title under the WWE banner for that matter.
