News broke over the last 24-hours that WWE Champion Kofi Kingston is dealing with an injury, which he revealed at the Monday’s SmackDown live event in Glens Falls, NY.
The latest update on Kingston is that he is currently dealing with back issues, according to PWInsider. The belief is that WWE will give him time to rest up and heal before Extreme Rules. It appears that WWE is just being cautious with this situation.
As noted, Kingston announced the news at the live event where he didn’t wrestle but rather made an appearance by tossing out pancakes to the fans in attendance.
While he was with Big E and Xavier Woods for the match that saw them beat The B Team., he stayed at ringside.
Before the contest, Kingston reportedly told fans that he was injured the night before at the WWE live event in Binghamton, NY. At this show, he successfully retained the WWE Title over Dolph Ziggler in the main event. The top star on the SmackDown brand noted that he would be ready for the WWE Extreme Rules show.
Kingston is slated to make his next title defense against Samoa Joe at this Sunday’s pay-per-view event in Philadelphia, PA at the Wells Fargo Center.
