Mauro Ranallo Has Re-signed With WWE

Mauro Ranallo has reportedly signed a new contract with WWE.

PWInsider was the first to report the news.

According to the report, Ranallo agreed to terms on a new deal approximately one month ago, extending his tenure as the voice of the NXT brand.

The deal will allow “The Bi-Polar Rock ‘N’ Roller” to continue with his outside combat sports commitments. He remains the lead voice for Showtime Championship Boxing, and also does work for the Bellator MMA promotion.

Ranallo first signed with WWE in 2015. He later debuted as the lead Smackdown announcer in early 2016.

After a 14-month run on Smackdown, Ranallo left the main roster commentary team. There was rampant speculation at the time that his departure was related to a personal issue with fellow commentator John “JBL” Layfield.

Ranallo has publicly denied that it was an issue with JBL that lead to him leaving Smackdown.

Rather, he said, it was due to the intense travel schedule that he was locked into at the time.

After a 3-month departure from WWE TV, he returned as the lead commentator for NXT TV, and the voice of NXT TakeOver events in June 2017.

His work on TakeOver events has been widely praised, and he claimed the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reader’s award for Best Announcer in 2017.

His “Mamma Mia” catchphrase has also become a popular chant at NXT, and even independent wrestling events.

Are you happy that Mauro is staying with WWE?
