Former UFC title contender and current Global Force Wrestling television announcer Chael Sonnen is scheduled to meet with WWE play-by-play announcer Michael Cole at the August 11th WWE SmackDown television tapings in Sonnen’s hometown of Portland, Oregon.
According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the meeting between Sonnen and Cole was set up by WWE talent scout Gerald Brisco, as well as WWE’s Senior Director of Talent Development, Canyon Ceman.
Sonnen was recently in San Jose for this year’s WrestleMania, as well as the Hall Of Fame ceremony. It was reported at the time that Sonnen was there to have a meeting with WWE Executive Producer Kevin Dunn about a potential WWE television role, however nothing ended up coming from the meeting, if it even took place.
