Vince McMahon Trying To Get Vickie To Forfeit Their Lifetime Deal?

For reasons publicly unclear, Vickie Guerrero has been subject to numerous verbal taunts concerning her weight throughout her tenure with WWE. Despite the placement of an anti-bullying policy and Guerrero herself losing over fifty pounds, the insults about her appearance continue to linger on WWE television shows. Last month at Over the Limit, commentator Jerry Lawler spent much of the WWE Tag Team Championship Match hurling weight-related barbs at Guerrero, who was wearing a dress with holes cut out.

When Vickie’s husband Eddie Guerrero died of heart failure in November 2005, Vince McMahon stated at a press conference that he promised to financially take care of her family for the rest of their lives. However, rather than dispense money to Guerrero for free, she was summoned to work for the organization as a television character despite having minimal training and experience. Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was asked by a reader this weekend whether McMahon’s constant degradation of Guerrero is being done to get her to quit WWE, thereby forfeiting their lifetime deal.

“I don’t think they’ve ever tried to run her off. They just had an idea for her character.” Meltzer states. “The worst stuff was when she had already given notice a few years back, as opposed to them trying to get her to leave.”

In May 2009, Guerrero requested to be released from her contract with WWE. As a single parent, she felt it was important to spend more time with her fatherless teenage daughters during their crucial adolescent years. McMahon, however, was livid over Guerrero’s decision.

Matthew Randazzo V writes of the WWE CEO’s reaction in the July 2009 issue of Power Slam: “He takes grievous offence and begins to rant and rave that Guerrero has betrayed WWE. Yes, Vince believes that the widow of Eddie Guerrero is ungrateful to the professional wrestling industry because she is putting her family first. From this point on, Vince’s shameless lackeys curry his favour by pitching gratuitous pig and fatso jokes at creative meetings—which earn booming guffaws from Vince.”

McMahon’s ire shifts on-screen, with Santino Marella and his fictitious twin sister “Santina” insulting Guerrero for weeks, calling her a pig and making oinking noises. The storyline climaxes with Guerrero being placed in a Hog Pen Match at the June 2009 Extreme Rules pay-per-view—Vickie and Santina brawl in a pen full of mud. With the Guerrero character refusing to be humiliated anymore, she quits her job as General Manager of Raw the following evening. After her announcement, she was joined in the ring by her estranged storyline husband, Edge. Requesting a divorce, the Rated-R Superstar viciously blasts Guerrero, calling her a “she-beast” among other insults.

Guerrero was asked last year during an interview with The Baltimore Sun whether WWE’s negative remarks toward her weight affect her.

“They really don’t bother me. Well, I guess they did to an extent, but not to where I was feeling bad about myself. It was who I was,” she said. “We have beautiful women that work with us, and when I was in the locker room with them and we’re dressing and stuff, I would look at them and be like, ‘Oh, this is ridiculous. I’m going to change.’ I wanted to feel good being a part of their group and to live a lifestyle that was going to be promoted with the WWE. Now when they say the jokes, it’s like, ‘Whatever.’ [laughs] The jokes have helped grow my character to what it is. I just kind of roll with it and leave it behind me when I leave the arena. Again, there’s the character and then there’s the real person. You can’t take what’s going on at work personally.”

Former WWE Star Believes John Cena Wants Randy Orton Fired

Fueling rumors that WWE may part ways with Randy Orton as a result of his second violation of the Talent Wellness Program, former WWE talent Kenn Doane (a/k/a Kenny Dykstra) said on Twitter that he believes John Cena is among those within the sports entertainment organization lobbying for the SmackDown wrestler’s termination. Doane’s belief is based on Cena admitting to him in 2006 that he wanted Orton fired for his first Wellness Program infraction.

“When I was there and Orton got suspended for the first time, Cena told me he wanted Orton fired. So now I’m sure it’s probably him trying for RKO’s release,” Doane wrote Friday. “Regardless, hopefully he don’t get fired since he has a young child and is the best story teller in WWE. They do still tell stories in the ring right?”

Cena admitted in WWE’s 2011 Randy Orton video release, The Evolution of a Predator, that he was not fond of the “old Randy.”

“I always joke around there’s old Randy and then there’s new Randy,” Cena stated. “Old Randy was an asshole.”

Orton was quietly suspended for thirty days without pay in August 2006, before WWE publicly announced suspensions for Talent Wellness Program violations. He tested positive for an anabolic steroid that he did not have a valid prescription for. Orton missed live events but continued to appear at televised events—including SummerSlam for a match against Hulk Hogan—for the duration of the suspension. He privately claimed he was taking time off from live events to remodel his home, but it was later confirmed that he was, in fact, suspended.

Cena has expressed strong support for the criminalization of the non-medical use of anabolic steroids by athletes. He has advocated the incarceration of athletes found to be using anabolic steroids or other performance enhancing drugs. “They should send the guys to jail,” said Cena during a February 2009 interview with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in response to a question about New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez admitting to using steroids and Major League Baseball’s anti-doping efforts. Cena elaborated on this belief in an interview with the New York Daily News.

“[Steroids] are the personal choice of the athlete,” said Cena while promoting 12 Rounds. “And [Rodriguez] got defensive, saying he used because he felt he needed to. If there was a set of [legal] stipulations set in place, he may never have even considered it.

“The government should take the initiative, and if you get caught using drugs, then you should go to jail. A criminal record will hurt your endorsements and long-term contracts.”

According to SuperLuchas.net, the nine-time world champion’s suspension reportedly stems from a positive drug test for the anabolic steroid Dianabol, which is banned by the United States Congress under its Controlled Substances Act. However, that is not confirmed. The only person in WWE who commented on the matter to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer believes Orton actually tested positive for a tainted supplement.

WWE Ranks The Top 15 Wrestling Families

The WWE website has a new list up ranking the Top 15 wrestling families:

15. The DiBiases
14. The Colons
13. The Poffos
12. The Hennigs
11. The Vachons
10. The Windhams
9. The Briscos
8. The Rhodes
7. The Funks
6. The Guerreros
5. The Ortons
4. The Von Erichs
3. The Anoa?i/Maivias
2. The Harts
1. The McMahons

Regarding the McMahon family, the WWE website wrote:

“The McMahon name has long been synonymous with sports-entertainment, but few realize the family was involved in professional wrestling since before the first television was even invented. In the 1920s, Jess McMahon began promoting matches in the New York City area during the industry’s early boom. When he died in 1954, his son, Vincent, took over the business and became one of the most respected and admired promoters. For Jess and Vince, Madison Square Garden was their home, but that regional base was expanded in the 1980s when Mr. McMahon took what would become WWE from an eastern attraction to an international powerhouse. Not just sports-entertainment’s greatest promoter, but one of the genre’s biggest stars, the mastermind behind WrestleMania’s in-ring battles with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin brought his company record television ratings and box-office receipts. His kids pitched in too as both Shane and Stephanie McMahon as key players both in the squared circle and at the corporate offices. With Stephanie’s 2003 marriage to Triple H, the family lineage extended to include not only sports-entertainment’s greatest minds, but one of the ring’s biggest legends.”

Del Rio Suffers Serious Concussion, Back-up Plans Being Made

A WWE source told sports blog Corey Unfiltered (coryradford.blog.com) Friday that Alberto Del Rio suffered a “serious concussion” at last Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Columbia, South Carolina. During a skirmish, Sheamus slammed Del Rio’s head against the metal WWE logo, leading to his concussion. Kane replaced Del Rio as Sheamus’ Steel Cage Match opponent in the post-taping bout and at Saturday’s SmackDown live event in Salisbury, Maryland.

Del Rio’s injury puts his World Heavyweight Championship Match against Sheamus at No Way Out on June 17 in jeopardy since WWE officials believe he will not receive medical clearance in time for the pay-per-view event. Contingency plans are being discussed in case Del Rio is unable to compete, including removing Kane from the WWE Championship Match against CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Other plans broached include a Battle Royal or a Beat the Clock Challenge to take place at this Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Manchester, New Hampshire

Meanwhile, WWE heads Vince McMahon and Triple H are becoming increasingly worried that Del Rio cannot be relied on due to injury concerns. He is being compared to former WWE star Mr. Kennedy (now known as Mr. Anderson in TNA Wrestling), whose reputation for being injury prone partially led to his release from the organization in 2009.

Del Rio May Have Suffered Concussion, PPV Match In Jeopardy

Alberto Del Rio, who is still recovering from surgery following a groin tear last year, is believed to have suffered a concussion during last Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Columbia, South Carolina. Therefore, he may be unable to compete against Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship at No Way Out on June 17. WWE officials brainstormed alternative scenarios Friday in case Del Rio is unable to wrestle at the pay-per-view event.

Looking to get under the skin of the World Heavyweight Champion, Del Rio brought out Ricardo Rodriguez to make light of the Irish brawler by mimicking his distinctive red hair, outfit and gestures. The real Sheamus then appeared, where the fight would eventually spread to the steel stage. The Celtic Warrior slammed Del Rio’s head against the metal WWE logo, leading to his possible concussion.

Del Rio did not appear as scheduled for tonight’s SmackDown live event in Salisbury, Maryland. Rather, Sheamus defended his strap against the winner of a match pitting Kane against The Great Khali.

WWE Offers Kelly Kelly Long-Term Contract, Wrestlers Burned Out

Following reports that Kelly Kelly was accepting endorsements and appearance requests during her hiatus from the WWE ring, organization officials lobbied the Raw Diva to sign a new contract. They are willing to offer her a pay raise since she is considered their most marketable female performer.

Meanwhile, a number of talents are reportedly feeling exhausted from the company’s current travel schedule, which requires most to attend every television taping. Some feel Nikki and Brie Bella may have started a trend with the female performers to take away from WWE rather than continuing working on a never-ending basis. The twin duo, as well as Lilian Garcia, have cited exhaustion from WWE’s grueling travel schedule as their reason for leaving the sports entertainment organization.

“It was crazy, Brie and I-when our contracts were coming to an end, we kind of both looked at each other one day and were like, “I’m exhausted.” And she was like, “I’m exhausted.” We were like, “Let’s take a break,” Nikki Bella stated last month to Diva-Dirt.com. “I don’t know if that’s the twin connection, or the twin bond, that we both kind of felt it but we just looked at each other one day and we were just tired. We were really tired and sore. We were like, okay, let’s do this. It was scary.”

Garcia explained on her official website in 2010, “Leaving the WWE was one of the hardest decisions I had to make because I was very close to everyone there and loved my job, but after 10-plus years of being on the road it was time to take a break.”

He also wrote Friday, “15 years ago I was in the Top Of The Super Junior tournament for New Japan Wrestling. I didnt win The 15 Amendment gives u the right to vote.”

– This week’s SmackDown marks the first time Lilian Garcia has traveled back to her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina since her return to the ring late last year.

“I was really excited when I found out we were coming here,” Garcia remarked to WWE.com. “We have come closer a few times, but to finally get to do this show here feels really good.”

“My parents are in attendance, as well as friends,” she added. “I’m even going to get to sing the National Anthem right before we go on the air, which is really special for me. It truly is a great honor.”

Former Announcer Says WWE Wants To Get Rid Of Randy Orton

Fueling rumors that WWE may part ways with Randy Orton as a result of his second violation of the Talent Wellness Program, former WCW announcer Mark Madden stated Thursday on Twitter, “WWE wants to get rid of Orton PERMANENTLY. Character and popularity have plateaued, and he’s a pain to deal with.”

In response to his statement, a Twitter user asked Madden whether Vince McMahon has suddenly stopped liking money. Madden responded, “Vince thinks everybody is a WWE creation, and therefore disposable, to be replaced by another WWE creation. And you’re overrating Orton.”

The Wrestling Observer reported Wednesday that there is a ‘small, vocal pocket’ within the sports entertainment organization lobbying for his termination. Vince McMahon is reportedly contemplating the move, but many employees believe he will ultimately retain the nine-time world champion due to the lack of roster depth.

The Observer added that there are people within WWE saying Orton’s hiatus ‘isn’t going to be that big a problem.’ For the first time, employees are openly categorizing CM Punk as the second-ranked babyface rather than Punk and Orton being on the same level. Many also feel SmackDown’s babyface side will be adequate with Sheamus, Christian, Sin Cara, Rey Mysterio returning soon from suspension and the option to turn Daniel Bryan at a moment’s notice.

FCW Pictures from Last Night: Vickie Guerrero’s HOT Daughter

“Loved the @thedeanambrose vs @realkingregal bout that had a shockingly, real, physical conclusion. That match was on hour three and will likely air in July but I’m not sure of any of the air dates. When FCW’s TV show runs its course on the Brighthouse Network in Florida, FCW will be replaced by NXT. I’m unaware if the rebranded NXT will air on WWE.com ( doubtful) but will air outside the USA where NXT is currently airing.”

CM Punk Touring With SmackDown During Randy Orton’s Absence

With Randy Orton serving a sixty-day suspension for his second violation of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program, WWE Champion CM Punk is being shifted from Raw live events to SmackDown live events to alleviate the secondary brand’s loss of the “Apex Predator.”

The changes go into effect on June 23 for the SmackDown show at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois, where Punk, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio are the top WWE Superstars advertised. John Cena and Big Show will headline Raw live events, with John Laurinaitis appearing at select events as an additional headliner. Dolph Ziggler is billed as the third star behind Cena and Show on the Raw tour.

The change is expected to be temporary since Punk is not advertised for events past July 29. Orton’s suspension concludes July 27 and he is advertised for events beginning in August.

For SmackDown tapings through late July, Cena and Triple H are being pushed as the main stars in local markets. Cena will only work dark matches while Triple H will make non-televised appearances.

Christian Appearing At TNA Slammiversary This Weekend

TNA President Dixie Carter announced on Twitter this morning that WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian will be appearing at TNA Slammiversary this weekend:

“On a plane headed to Dallas for the big PPV this weekend. Very excited @Christian4Peeps is joinin us for the night. He’s one of my favorites”

When TNA allowed Ric Flair to appear at WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony earlier this year, it was rumored that in return, TNA requested that Christian do a sit-down interview with TNA. That footage would be used for future TNA DVD releases. It’s unknown whether Christian will be appearing on camera this Sunday at Slammiversary of he’ll be there to film that interview.

Dixie Carter’s announcement could also be a sign that Christian will be the first person announced for the TNA Hall of Fame at the pay-per-view, but that is just speculation at this point.

WWE Planning Major Summer Angle, Latest WWE Inbox Video

– WWE’s creative team has been instructed to come up with a blockbuster storyline that will be one of the focal points of WWE television this summer.

In previous years, similar “summer blockbuster” angles have included the Mr. McMahon limousine explosion (cut short due to the Chris Benoit tragedy occurring shortly after), the formation Nexus in 2010 and CM Punk’s infamous shoot promo last year.

The feeling is that WWE’s ratings and overall television product need a jolt and the Nexus & CM Punk angles both helped spike fan interest.

More Plans For RAW 1,000: PPV Caliber Matches, Undertaker

WWE is going all-out for the upcoming 1,000th RAW celebration on July 23rd and plans to treat the show as a PPV-caliber event.

WWE has reached out to dozens of legends to appear at the show, including the usual suspects (Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter, Jim Duggan, Gene Okerlund, Jimmy Hart) as well as many top names from the Attitude Era. WWE is even considering bringing in Bobby Heenan, but his health situation might prevent him from appearing.

There has been talk of incorporating several vintage production techniques to the show, similar to what we saw on the special “Old School” RAW back in 2010.

The plan is to announce several big matches for the 1,000th RAW and promote the show hard in the weeks leading up to it.

WWE has reached out to the Undertaker and wants to promote his television return several weeks in advance as well.

Ryback’s Victims, WWE Ribs The Genius, Triple H-SmackDown

– An interesting note about the “local talent” that Ryback has been squashing each week. As a way of giving Ryback an extra edge to get him over with live audiences, WWE has been announcing that the jobbers hail from the rival city of where the event is being held. For example, when WWE was recently in Columbia, South Carolina, it was announced the jobbers hailed from Clemson, South Carolina. Clemson is a rival school of the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

– More on Ryback’s latest victims from RAW, Arthur Rosenberg and Stan Hansky (indy wrestlers Kirby Mack and Stoney Hooker). Prior to being sacrificed to Ryback, they read a poem together, which was meant to be a rib on Lanny “The Genius” Poffo, brother of the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

The belief is that Poffo was ribbed because of his recent comments about Randy Savage refusing to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame unless the entire Poffo family (including their father, Agenlo Poffo) was inducted as well.

– Today’s wrestling birthdays include hardcore legend Mick Foley (46) and WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel.

– Triple H has been added to next week’s WWE SmackDown tapings (6/12) from the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire. Triple h appeared at this week’s SmackDown tapings and laid out Drew McIntyre with a pedigree in a segment that won’t air on television, so it’s possible he’ll have a similar role at next week’s tapings.

Ambrose vs. Regal Tonight At FCW’s Final TV Tapings

Regal tweeted the following on Wednesday night about their match:

“Dear Dean,in only a few hours our lives will change. For what I am about to do to you may my children forgive me.William.@TheDeanAmbrose”

Ambrose has been taunting Regal on Twitter all week, explaining how he intends to pick him apart piece by piece:

“June 7, Tampa. It will be difficult to watch, bad people doing terrible things, violent, ugly, uncomfortable. Me vs @realkingregal.”

“He’s gonna try to finish the job he did on my shoulder, the gimmick shoulder that cost me the fcw title @BrandonTheKing @RealKingRegal”

Carlito Talks About Getting Into A Drunken Fight With John Cena

Former WWE Star Carlito appeared on Episode #6 of MLW.com’s Konnan Show this week and told a story about getting into a drunken fight with John Cena.

“I actually had a fight with [John] Cena. I forget where it was, but we got into a fight. A drunken fist fight. He told me I wasn’t applying myself. He said I should be at a higher level. I didn’t punch him because I’m not going to punch the face of the company. It was more like a drunken fight. I don’t think we were out to hurt each other. I was just defending myself, but Cena, he’s strong as hell.”

“He jumped at me first. They ended up separating us about three times. I felt like he and I had always been close. I think he just wanted to see me do better. Cena is one of those guys that’s a top guy, but he wants to see other guys. He doesn’t try to hold guys down, he wants to see them come up.”
