JBL Declines Survivor Series Invite, Maryse & The Miz, More

— Former WWE Champion John “Bradshaw” Layfield stated on Twitter that he declined WWE’s invitation to appear at Survivor Series

Layfield wrote, “Not at Survivor Series and not watching-too late for me. 15 years ago my SS debut Tim White counted me out by mistake! Big screw up! It was my big push and Tim White counted 3 by mistake, first time ear pieces were used and someone was in his ear. Killed my push:)

He continued, “I’m not watching cause it’s too late for me-got early morning tee time in Bermuda! Was asked if I was available by WWE, but I’m not. #golf”

— Former WWE Diva Maryse Ouellet traveled with The Miz to New York City this weekend. The couple also attended Google and T-Mobile’s launch party for Google Music last Wednesday in Los Angeles, California.

— Betty Skaaland, widow of WWE Hall of Famer Arnold Skaaland, sat ringside at the Survivor Series.

Sin Cara To Be Sidelined For Several Months

The official Twitter feed of the WWE Insider stated this evening that Sin Cara suffered a ruptured patellar tendon and will be sidelined for six to nine months, following surgery.

The masked grappler suffered the injury while performing a dive outside the ring during the Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match. He was left unable to compete and therefore eliminated.

Survivor Series Headliner Reportedly Violated WWE’s Drug Policy

Evan Bourne’s suspension for his first violation of WWE’s Talent Wellness Program has generated a great deal of controversy amongst talent as some feel a double standard is in place.

Bourne, who’s real name is Matthew Korklan, was suspended for thirty days on November 1, 2011 after testing positive for Spice, a synthetic marijuana brand. Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer reports Bourne and another wrestler higher up the card smoked the marijuana substitute drug at a party, yet he was the only one of the two to be suspended. The other wrestler was told he had failed for marijuana, which results in a $2,500 fine, as opposed to a thirty-day suspension for synthetic marijuana.

According to the Wrestling Globe Newsletter, the wrestler in question is a participant in tonight’s Survivor Series match featuring John Cena and The Rock against R-Truth and The Miz.

This has led to questions about whether WWE’s drug testing procedure is flawed or whether talent are treated differently depending on their status in the organization.

This would not be the first time in which WWE reprieved a top-level talent who had violated their Talent Wellness Program. On August 30, 2007, Sports Illustrated named Randy Orton as one of fourteen contracted and former WWE performers to have purchased pharmaceuticals from an online pharmacy (Signature Pharamacy), a violation of the Talent Wellness Program. Specifically, Orton received somatropin, nandrolone, stanozolol between September 2004 and February 2007, which occurred after the “no drugs from online sources” rule was instituted. However, Orton was the lone contracted performer not to be suspended by WWE. Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer reported that WWE did not suspend Orton because he had already been suspended for a drug policy violation in August 2006, resulting in double jeopardy. The ruling, however, appeared nonsensical since Orton continued to receive pharmaceuticals following the suspension. WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt claimed last year in a letter to Irv Muchnick that “no action was taken against Randy Orton because he was not on any customer list for Signature Pharmacy ever provided to us by District Attorney Soares.”

WWE Decline Veteran Female Wrestler, Mason Ryan Speaks Out

— Sean Waltman stated during a recent interview with the Pro Wrestling Torch that Faby Apache, who performs for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, is the single best female wrestler he saw when he was in Mexico a few years ago. He recently recommended the veteran wrestler to WWE officials, but they declined.

“She is the best female worker I’ve seen in maybe the last ten years. It’s just that she’s a little bottom heavy like a lot of the girls down in Mexico that doesn’t fit in with the look WWE is looking for with the Divas division, unfortunately. In terms of in-ring talent, she can go with anyone. I put in a word for her, but they weren’t interested in her,” Waltman said.

— Mason Ryan spoke to LocalBozo.com to promote Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He discusses his start in professional wrestling, being discovered by WWE, his anticipation in performing at MSG for the first time, what he’d be doing if he was not wrestling, the energy Mick Foley and The Rock bring to the dressing room, transitioning to a fan favorite, who’s been most instrumental in helping him hone his character and ring work.

— The Bella Twins appear at Alexandria KIA Dealership 7416 Richmond Hwy. Alexandria, Virginia on December 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Call 888-430-7570 for more information.

WWE’s “Very Big Announcement” Concerning Cable Network

During WWE’s third quarter conference call with investors on November 3, 2011, CEO Vince McMahon stated the organization would “soon be making a very big announcement” regarding WWE Network plans. He said the company feels confident they “finally turned the corner” on the cable television network’s status to make the announcement. Included will be future expenses of $4-6 million for staffing and $10-15 million for additional equipment and construction of their media center to house network operations.

According to a source within WWE’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, the “very big announcement” is that Wrestlemania 28 will be broadcast live. The cable television network is expected to be launched on April 1, 2012, the day of WrestleMania.

WWE has bought extensive amount of office space in Norwalk and Stamford, Connecticut to employ over 200 employees for the cable television network. They’ve also spent money on trailers so employees could work on digitizing their vast tape library. WWE has approximately 100,000 hours of footage in their tape library, with 30,000 hours currently digitized.

Foley-30 Rock, Kelly Calls Beth A Hypocrite, Twitter

– As previously reported, Mick Foley filmed an episode of NBC’s 30 Rock the other day where he had to do a kissing scene. Foley said on Twitter that he was on the set of 30 Rock dressed as his mask-wearing late 90’s alter-ego, Mankind.

– Kelly Kelly lashed out at Beth Phoenix on Twitter as she feels “The Glamazon” is a hypocrite for participating in numerous WWE.com photoshoots. She wrote,

“Wanna talk about arrogant? You have more diva focus photoshoots than any other diva combined! You say you’re not a model #hypocrite.”

– A source within WWE stated the following regarding tomorrow night’s Survivor Series pay-per-view broadcast: “Get ready for a three hour Twitter commercial. Don’t say I never warned you.”

*Spoiler* Two Matches Revealed For Tables, Ladders & Chairs

A promotional commercial for WWE’s upcoming TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view event aired in the Baltimore, Maryland region during Friday’s episode of SmackDown and two matches were disclosed.

Regardless the outcome at Survivor Series, CM Punk will battle Alberto Del Rio in a return match for the WWE Championship. Plus, Triple H will square off against former friend Kevin Nash.

JR Blog: WM28 Ticket Sales, Punk-Del Rio, DWTS

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

WM28 Ticket Sales: “Rock vs. @JohnCena on April 1. 2012 has WM28 being a hot ticket with over 43,500 tickets already sold and with some projecting that this mega event could gross around $9M in ticket sales when all is said and done in South Florida.”

Punk vs. Del Rio at Survivor Series: “Potential show stealer Sunday in my view is CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Title. Two, prideful men who have the opportunity that they will most certainly embrace and take deadly serious in a professional manner. I’m predicting a @CMPunk WWE title win Sunday BTW. Every wrestler with pride in what they do should want to create their own ‘MSG Moment’ as those live in one’s heart for a lifetime.”

JR on Dancing With The Stars? “I had a Hollywood type contact me to ask if I was interested in trying to get on Dancing With The Stars coming off the heels of Monday’s Raw in Boston. I said, no thanks and to stop the maddness. The purely-for- entertainment skit that we did last Monday on Raw should have proved to any one with sight that I have no dancing skills. However, I am grateful to those that commented on Twitter @JRsBBQ that they were entertained and got a laugh out of the craziness.”

“It was all done for entertainment purposes and it did earn a nice TV rating for Raw which is the primary objective of any TV broadcast. Has the JR/Cole never ending story finally come to a conclusion or is there more juice to squeeze out of that berry? TBD.”

Nash-Triple H Teased For RAW, Gerald Brisco Update

– Local advertising in Hershey, PA (the site of Monday’s RAW) is advertising the following for Monday’s RAW:

“What will happen when Kevin Nash and Triple H are in the same building”

As previously reported, Kevin Nash is expected to wrestle Triple H at WWE’s upcoming Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view on December 18th. Nash is then booked for a series of matches against the Big Show on WWE’s tour of Japan in late December.

– Jim Ross stated Friday on Twitter that he talked to Gerald Brisco and he is feeling much better after suffering a minor stroke last month. The WWE Hall of Famer previously suffered three strokes in June 2009.

– WWE’s Raw SuperShow the night after the Royal Rumble will take place from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, 1/30.

Rima Fakih Says She’s In Talks To Return To WWE

Miss USA Rima Fakihm

Show: Running The Ropes
Host: Brian “Maveric” Bertrand
Guest: Rima Fakih

This week, the guys at “Running the Ropes” were very honoured to welcome the lovely former Miss USA winner and Tough Enough contestant, Rima Fakih to the program.

You can listen to an MP3 of the appearance by clicking here.

During this very exclusive live-recorded interview, Brian “Maveric” Bertrand asked Fakih about making the transition from being Miss USA to her involvement with the WWE and then into Tough Enough 2011. She said:

“One of the things I like to do is break stereotypes and let people know that you can be beautiful and tough at the same time”

“It was a great adventure. I have to say that coming to the Tough Enough was not only a highlight of my reign but my Journey as Rima Fakih.”

When asked about the pageant’s reaction to joining the WWE:

“The reason, I think, was because I hosted Raw a couple of times and just thought that even though my organization and our (Miss Universe pageant) president, Miss Paula Shugart, was terrified when I told her ‘I can do it! I can do Tough Enough,’ everyone was kind of afraid for me.”

When going into the Tough Enough house, the guys at WWE started to tell her right away what was going to happen.

“When they find out you’re Miss USA, you’re going to be looked at as ‘What are you doing here? You’ll be like the piñata.’ I told them ‘Great! I love the challenge!’ … I just wanted to prove myself in the ring. Let my actions speak for me.”

Regarding her future with the WWE, Rima gave us a bit of exclusive news.

“Well I have been in talks with Triple H very recently. So I’ll definitely keep you updated.”

John Morrison Takes a Shot At Cena For Supporting Ryder

Despite Zack Ryder’s recent campaign to get a United States title shot against Dolph Ziggler, it’s John Morrison who will challenge for the title this Sunday at Survivor Series. Ryder has dubbed the snub the #ManhattanScrewjob – and got some support from John Cena on Twitter this week.  Cena tweeted:

“Follow @ZackRyder No disrespect to Morrison but @ZackRyder deserves that match at MSG.”

John Morrison replied and said he agreed, proposing a Triple Threat between he, Ryder and Dolph Ziggler. Right after that, Morrison made the following comments:

“You should know better than anyone, sometimes deserve’s got nothing to do with it.”

“No disrespect Cena, but if you really think Zack deserves a match at MSG all you need to do is text your buddy @WWERAWGM and he will get one”

Steve Austin Says He Has One More Match Left In Him

Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) and Jimmy Korderas (@jimmykorderas) of #AftermathRadio on thescore.com and iTunes chat with WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin.

In the interview, Austin admits that he does have one more match left in him, that he would have liked to face Brock Lesnar but had it done right years ago in WWE, and he would like to face CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVIII, though he would have preferred Punk to be a heel, and the money needs to be right. Highlights:

On working for projects, his new website, including working with Steven Seagal in a new movie release upcoming soon in the future: “I am happy to be working with the guy. I have always been a Seagal fan, Ive heard a lot of stories about him. Its kinda right in the middle of my dear season. I’m down here in Texas in the deer stand looking at deer, learning my lines, and getting tuned up in the gym.”

Does he feel that there could be one more match inside of him still? Possibily stepping in the ring against CM Punk at a future Wrestlemania: “If it was the right time, right place could I do it (have one more match). Yeah. I got alot of respect for the kid (CM Punk), love the promos he cuts, love his work in the ring. He’s a guy that paid his dues, worked his way to top guy status, and I wish him all the best in the world. It’s a weird situation right now because he’s a babyface and I think he became a babyface too soon, and I would have liked to work him when he was a heel. It comes down to money and what’s on the table.”

Thoughts on Brock Lesnar. Giving his thoughts on all former talents like Brock Lesnar saying he would like to face Steve Austin if he came back to WWE, and current superstars calling him out on places like Twitter and other interviews: “As far as Brock Lesnar goes, I think he’s firmly entrenched in the UFC, and I think yes that was the big match to him that he would have liked to have had in the WWE at that time. Hell, I would have loved to have worked with Brock too, had it been done right.”

Austin also comments on his DVD, the famous “double turn” at WrestleMania 13, if there were discussions of a match against Hulk Hogan, Tough Enough, “What,” and more. The full interview is available here.

Jericho Says TNA Will Never Beat WWE, Comments On Return

Chris Jericho says in an interview with Wrestledope Radio that he has several Hollywood projects lined up for early next year and would only return to WWE if there was an individual he was interested in working with.

He explains, “For me to go back to WWE, I would have to have someone that interests me personally. You could say any name—it could be CM Punk, it could be The Rock, it could be Funaki. But, to me, it’s like I’d have to feel it. Right now, I’m happy doing the stuff I’m doing.

“When I’m finished with this tour, we’re doing a new record and I have a bunch of stuff going out in Hollywood that’s kinda coming to fruition. I had to leave that block of time open, January, February, March, April, May.”

Jericho, however, is open to returning “someday” and says he likes CM Punk’s work. He says, “Punk is great and he’s doing a great job, but as of right now, as much as people don’t want to hear it, I don’t have any plans as of right now to go back to WWE. I never said I wouldn’t go back; now is just not the right time for me.”

Jericho was also asked whether another promotion could ever be a legitimate competitor to WWE by rising to their level. He doesn’t think so.

“I don’t think it’ll ever happen because WWE is such a machine at this point. Vince could leave this earth tomorrow and it would still continue on. I think it’d be, not impossible, but you’d have to have a lot of money behind you and it’s not like it was ten years ago when there were guys working in Japan or over here or in ECW or whatever that you could bring it. Pretty much everyone that’s any good that’s worthy of drawing money works for Vince now,” Jericho says.

“So, if you were going to go and open up another company, you almost have to have so much money that guys can’t turn you down, kinda like it was with WCW back in ’96 or so. But, it’s not going to happen. I really don’t think. I think Vince is the monopoly for the business and there will always be second-rate or third-rate, but let’s face it, everyone wants to work for Vince McMahon, I don’t care who you are. Hulk Hogan wants to work for Vince McMahon. Dixie Carter would probably work for Vince if he offered her a job. TNA could be a good second, but they’ll never be first. And anyone who actually says it with a straight face is probably just saying it as bravado.”

Jericho also discusses connecting with the audience, being a front man compared to competing in the ring, his favourite music growing up, online wrestling news sites, wrestlers stealing movie, wrestlers of large stature and more. The interview is available here.

McMahon To Get A Twitter Account?, McCool’s Post-WWE Chat

— Vince McMahon has become obsessed with Twitter in recent weeks, so much so that he’s even been joking about getting his own account. One WWE source, however, is taking his remarks seriously. — Michelle McCool will be participating in her first online chat since parting ways with WWE next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on MichelleMcCool.net.

She wrote, “It’s a special time of year in so many ways! November marks an important anniversary & I want to give thanks — to y’all!!

“Please come and join me for the 1st ever, live online chat, right here at MichelleMcCool.Net, next week: Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 6PM Eastern Time!

John Cena Discusses Ryder Revolution And Feud With The Rock

Chad Dukes of 106.7 The Fan DC’s Lavar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes does a wrestling show (The Chad Dukes Wrestling Show) on Friday nights. On November 16th Chad did an interview with John Cena. Here is a link to the show’s twitter (http://twitter.com/DukesWrestling) and a blog post about the interview on the show website (http://chaddukeswrestlingshow.com/2011/11/17/john-cena-on-why-hes-part-of-the-ryder-revolution/). The interview is included in the post. Below is a quick transcription of the highlights of the interview, where Cena covers his view of the feud with The Rock brewing before Wrestlemania and putting over Zack Ryder.

On Zach Ryder’s career path and his support for him:

Chad Dukes: You were putting over Zach Ryder before Zach Ryder was cool…Just curious why that is; what did you see in Zach Ryder to say this is a guy I want ot make sure gets his spotlight on Raw?

John Cena: You’re probably going to censor me out but I saw a set of balls. I saw a kid in an era in which everyone is afraid to show their talents. This kid was like ‘You know what; I’m going down anyway so I’m going down swinging.’ And I’ve been in that spot before. I’ve been told by everyone ‘You’re nothing; You’re not going to be anything; Hey how you feel about doing this rap thing?’ If I’m going down, I’m going down swinging. So I really, I saw a lot of that in him. I honestly, whether he’s battle tested and ready for the next level, I’m not into that sort of speculation. I just like seeing a kid with a set of nuts who is just ready to throw it out on the line and risk it all, rather than ‘Hey man I just don’t want to rock the boat and I don’t want to do anything that’s going to draw attention to myself.’ We’re in the business of drawing attention to yourself. So when I see a kid like Zach Ryder- by the way you have to follow him on twitter @ZachRyder…- the kid is, he’s just one of those guys that was willing to take a chance. And I admire that quality out of people. Its something that’s not found enough in the WWE locker room.

Chad Dukes: Do you see [Zach Ryder]…being a figure that’s out there and ‘you’re the main event’ on a Monday Night RAW or Friday Night Smackdown?

John Cena: Well, honestly, that’s up to Zach Ryder. And I really like the fact that he was like ‘I really don’t care about the next step, I care about the first step.’ The cool thing about Zach is he has made that first step. And so many guys speculate on “What if I do this, then this is going to happen.” F it, like just make the first step. So now, Zach has to realize that he’s got some steam going and realize how he got the steam going in the first place, and then take it to the next step. Bu the fact that he threw speculation out the window and took a dive into the deep end and really did something that wasn’t being done and made an impression, that’s great. I think the biggest thing for him is maybe these upcoming weeks or months leading up towards Wrestlemania I think it would be a huge victory if you would see Zach Ryder on the Wrestlemania card.

On his feud with The Rock and they’re upcoming match at Survivor Series:

Chad Dukes: I got to ask one last thing about your feud with The Rock. Are there any parameters set up? Have you guys had a conversation? Because this is not just ‘Hey brother I’m going to kick your ass’ type f stuff going on, it gets personal. And you call him out for not being there and he calls you out for things, and it looks like you guys are really willing to say whatever you need to get this feud over with the fans. Which you don’t need to do anyway, who doesn’t want to see John Cena and The Rock at Wrestlemania. But were there any parameters going into this thing saying ‘this is out of bounds, this is off limits?’ Because it doesn’t look like it…

John Cena: Well I think if we’re both professionals and Ill say this with the utmost of integrity, Rock is a future Hall of Famer. He’s had an illustrious career in the WWE. He’s now a bona-fide box office superstar. If anybody is at fault for waving the personal trigger its me, just because I get a little testy about some of the stuff that he’s been quoted as saying in the past, some of the stuff he’s quoted as saying on our broadcast. I get testy about that, because I work for the WWE full time. I work for the WWE all the time. I will work for the WWE when I cant physically perform for the WWE. As long as there is a brand to work for, I want to be involved in it. I love the company, I love the people who run it, I love its administration, I love success stories like Zach Ryder. I love being there to see that and develop before my eyes. Whether I’m a part of it, whether I’m helping it or whether I’m just a third wheel watching someone succeed. And everybody knows that I have a little bit of a discrepancy with the way Dwayne handles himself. And every once and a while when things get too tense I bring something up that I probably shouldn’t. But, you know, sometimes your personality gets the best of you and if they’re going to remember this feud for eternity- which I really think they are, like you said it’s the match that everyone has to see- at least at the end of the day I’ll have got my point across. Yea, so I’ve already apologized to Dwayne, not only on twitter but in person about some of the stuff I said. It was unprofessional but in the heat of the moment sometimes you let your heart pour out rather than thinking with your head. And I have a feeling it’s probably not the last you’ve heard of me saying all that stuff.

*SPOILERS* WWE SMACKDOWN Results For Tonight

Video: IGN Gives WWE ’12 “Amazing” 9/10 Rating

IGN Reviews WWE 12

Video game website IGN.com has released its review of the new WWE ’12 video game and gave it a 9/10 “Amazing” rating. If you’re familiar with IGN’s ratings, you’ll know that a 9/10 is a major accomplishment. This is the best rating a WWE video game has gotten in many, many years – and a real sign that THQ’s complete overhaul of the WWE video game property has paid off bigtime.

Here’s a summary of their review, followed by their video review:

  • Presentation: 9.0
Some incredible work here, recreating the WWE experience in a dramatic, almost lifelike way. The story needs some work.
  • Graphics: 8.5
On the ramp and in the ring, the graphics are great. When it comes to acting, the results are about as good as you might expect.
  • Sound: 7.5
All the music you want is here, and so are the wrestlers’ voices, but the wrestlers have more passion on TV.
  • Gameplay: 8.5
