Hogan Interview: Dream Match With Austin, Savage & More

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was recently interviewed by ESPN.com’s Jon Robinson to promote his upcoming video game “Hulk Hogan’s Main Event” for the motion-sensing Xbox 360 Kinect system. Here are some highlights of what Hogan said about:

Wanting To Wrestle Steve Austin: “Well, if there is that one last huge match that really, really meant something to the fans, that would have to be against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. I can see him already making appearances back on TV and he’s already starting to get full of himself. I heard him say for a while that his back and his neck were too messed up to wrestle, but from I’ve been seeing lately, I think he’s getting geared up to do something and I’d like to be a part of it.”

His Memories of Randy Savage: Randy and I were stuck together like glue for about 15 years. We did everything together — we traveled together, we worked out every day together — and then we went on to have some great matches. I know this sounds horrible, but we made a lot of money together, and then we had this huge falling out that to this day, I still don’t know why he got mad. He went through a lot with his divorce from Elizabeth and stuff, but we just started talking again a few months before he died. I don’t do many independent wrestling shows, but I finally did one and (Randy’s brother) Lanny was there and he was telling me how tough it was after their dad passed away, but his dad was really happy that Randy and I had started talking again. But then Lanny was really worried about his mom, so they were going to throw a big barbeque at his mom’s house with Randy and I, and that was supposed to be the next weekend, but Randy died in the middle of the week. Out of all the guys who have died, that one hit me the hardest. I’ve known a lot of guys, I’ve walked into hotel rooms where there have been bad situations, but that one was a tough one.”

There’s much more to the interview, including Hogan talking about his relationship with Vince McMahon, his favorite matches and more. Head over to ESPN.com for the full article.

JR Blog: Austin-RAW, Zack Ryder Snubbed, Nash’s Arrest

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog update, which you can read its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Zack Ryder Snubbed On RAW: We received a ton of Tweets @JRsBBQ and emails to this site about Long Island’s Zach Ryder not being on Monday Night Raw from his ‘home town.’ Not exactly sure what it was that some thought I could do about it but they vented nonetheless. Lighten Up,  Francis.”

Stone Cold On RAW: “@steveaustinBSR and @R_Roddy_Piper were the two highlights for this old schooler on Monday’s Raw. They both know how to fully command an audience and still have ‘it.’ Austin can be so intense that it bleeds through the TV screen. His Clint Eastwood-esque delivered line to CM Punk….”punk” was golden. @CMPunk and Austin have excellent on screen chemistry and back in the day they would have had a helluva run. Nothing but money.”

“Austin’s mic work with Miz, Vickie Guerrero, and CM Punk were three of the most memorable moments of the three hour Raw.”

Kevin Nash’s Recent Arrest: “@RealKevinNash defended his wife against a drunk dude with a beer bottle in hand and it was Kevin who got arrested and where it was made to look like a big deal by TMZ. Must have been a slow news day. Kevin protecting his wife isn’t a crime the last I looked and it sounds as if the police over reacted. When Kevin told me this story last week, I never dreamed that it would actually become national gossip/news. I’d love to do a sit down DVD interview w/ ‘Big Sexy’ about his career.”

Vickie Guerrero’s Weight Loss: “Vickie is looking great and her change in diet and exercise are working for her.”

Zack Ryder Interview: His YouTube Show, Character & More

Zack Ryder was interviewed by Newsday.com‘s Alfonso Castillo to promote tonight’s WWE RAW from Long Island, NY. Here are some highlights of what Ryder said about:

How His “Z! True Long Island Story” YouTube Show Came About:

“What happened was that about three months ago I was sick of just not being on TV, sick of just sitting in the background on the sidelines. So I created my opportunity. I created my own Youtube account. My parents got me a Flipcam for Christmas. And I started to make my own shows. And 16 episodes later, more than a million views, it’s starting to pick up… All my days off is basically doing that show. It’s thinking of things and messing around with my friends. They’ll help me film stuff, like the Superstars General Manager—just things to create controversy in a funny, light hearted way… I think I had no creative output before, so they really didn’t know who I was. I had a couple matches here and there, but I never really had a chance to show who I really was, my personality and show how charismatic I was. Now this show has taken off. Guys like John Cena, The Miz, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Chris Jericho are all praising me on Twitter and stuff like that. I wrote the bonus forward to Chris Jericho’s book. It’s just unbelievable. I think everyone is starting to notice.”

Whether He’s Gotten Heat From WWE Management For The Show:

“At first, I was afraid too. I thought, ‘Am I going to get in trouble?’ But I’m not trying to cause any problems. I just want to get my name out there and create my own opportunity, and make some money for the company and for myself. Now they’re really getting behind it. Like you said, there are signs every single week. My T-Shirts are selling out, and I’m not even on television. It’s unheard of. So, I think they have to get behind it.… As far as I know, I haven’t been punished. But before I started the Youtube show, I was at the bottom of the card—the bottom. How much worse of a position could I have dropped to, you know? So it had to go up. That was my mind set. I was just sick of being at the bottom, knowing I could be so much more. It was all or nothing, basically.”

Working His Way Up The WWE Ranks:

“I guess I am grateful that I have a job in WWE, but that my plan my whole life. So, it’s kind of expected for me. So I’m not satisfied with my spot on the card. I definitely want to move up. And that’s what I’m going to do. Or at least I’m going to try my best and go out swinging. I’m not going to just sit back and say, ‘Oh, I should have done that,’ or ‘I should have done this.’ When my time comes to an end, I know I’ll have no regrets… I’ve been under contract for five years. I’ve been on television for four. So that’s a pretty long time. So many people come and go in four years. But I have all the time in the world. I’m only 26. I’m one of the youngest guys on the roster. I’m not going to stop until everyone in this world knows who Zack Ryder is.”

HBK Talks About His Career & New Hunting Show

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels recently spoke with TelegraphJournal.com about a hunting trip in Canada he participated in.

HBK will be starring in his own hunting show,  ‘Shawn Michaels’ MacMillan River Adventures,’ which premieres this summer (6/28) the Outdoor Channel.

Here are the highlights of what Shawn said about:

His Hall Of Fame Career & Life After Wrestling:

“I’ve accomplished far more than I ever possibly could have imagined. It was a phenomenal run and I enjoyed every second of it. As I say, I enjoy going back and visiting everybody. I’ll always be a part of that company and I’m thankful that those are just a few of many, many memories that I have because I’ve got a bunch.”

“When you do that for as long as you do it, you’re not sure you can be normal and have normal friends and have other friends outside of it. So I’ve enjoyed seeing that that’s possible. Knowing that I can meet people that weren’t in my line of work and have the same amount of trust and friendship with them that I have with the other guys.”

His New Hunting Show on the Outdoor Channel:

“I’m not doing a reality show, it’s not really even a hunting show, it’s more of an outdoor lifestyle show. We’re just two guys who have families who live an outdoor lifestyle so some of that will be captured on film.”

WWE Reportedly Releases Five Wrestlers

WWE released Michael Tarver, Jacob Novak, Buck Dixon, Buddy Stetcher and Ethan Levin over the weekend, reports PWInsider.com.

Jacob Novak participated in the current season of NXT, but was eliminated first for the second consecutive season.

Dixon, Stetcher and Levin were seldom featured developmental wrestlers.

JBL Responds To Lebron Blaming God For NBA Finals Loss

Basketball superstar LeBron James’ Miami Heat came up short in the NBA finals, losing the decisive Game 6 against the Dallas Mavericks. In a post-game press conference, LeBron gave the following explanation as to why his star-studded team was unable to bring home the championship they promised the city of Miami:

“The Greater Man upstairs know when it’s my time. Right now isn’t the time.”

It wasn’t that the Mavericks were a better team, it’s God’s fault.

Former WWE superstar John Bradshaw Layfield has posted a lengthy response to the claims of “King James,” which he calls a classless move. JBL wrote on Facebook:

“There are reportedly one billion people in this world that are hungry, several wars and people worldwide trying to get over terrible disasters-I don’t believe God cares who won the NBA Finals.”

“LeBron James brought his “talents” to South Beach, too bad those “talents” don’t include a heart-or the ability for correct introspection. Now, after the worst final choke in history his answer is that God didn’t want him to win. He tweeted “The greater man upstairs knows when it is my time. Right now isn’t the time.” At least he acknowledged that God is the greater man.

“Does this mean that God is a Maverick fan? Or that God was rooting for Dirk or Jason? Or that God was just rooting against Miami?… Thank God for your health, for your family, for the opportunity-but please don’t thank God anymore for sports victories-I don’t believe he is a sports fan, and I hope he is not because I hope he has bigger issues to work on.

“And, PLEASE whatever you do-don’t blame him for your losses-that is just classless.??”Now as LeBron stated so emphatically-I’ll go back to my daily life as we commoners tend to do. Which isn’t so bad-and, BTW, I have as many rings as LeBron.”

Punk Posts Tweet Slamming WWE, Cannon Comments On Arrest

— CM Punk retweeted the following message on his Twitter account slamming WWE’s creative braintrust regarding tomorrow night’s Raw:

NXT contestant Lucky Cannon commented on a story that emerged yesterday stating that he was arrested earlier this year in Florida for impersonating a police officer. He claims all charges relating to the arrest were dropped.

He wrote on Twitter, “Old news.. Charges dropped. Old news ;-)”

The WWE talent was arrested on the morning of February 28, 2011 in Hillsbourgh, Florida and charged with falsely personating a law enforcement official. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 11:26 a.m. and subsequently released on $2,000 bail.

Animal Has Magazine Clarify His Views On WWE’s Drug Policy

It was reported last month that WWE Hall of Famer Road Warrior Animal was removed as the guest host of a slate of recent Raw live events due to WWE’s belief that he was critical of their drug testing policy in a recently published interview with Power Slam magazine.

An article was published online pertaining to his comments regarding WWE’s Wellness Policy. The multi-time tag team champion stated during a subsequent interview with Minneapolis based sports radio station KFAN Sports Radio AM 1130 that his remarks were taken out of context by the writer of the online article. He also contacted Power Slam to publish a clarification regarding his views on WWE’s drug testing policy.

“My true feelings are that it is one of the most stringent drug testing policies in all of pro sports, and there’s no way that any athlete can beat it,” Animal says in the latest issue of Power Slam. “I was in no way slamming WWE, who gave me a great induction into the Hall of Fame. I support WWE’s Wellness policy and all the other things they do for all their athletes.”

Animal participated in an interview with the magazine days before his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and was asked about how important the larger-than-life, steroid-enhanced physiques were to the image of The Road Warriors. He was also asked if the team would have been the same force had they debuted in the modern WWE era where performers are drug tested.

“Let’s be totally honest with people right now. Look at the guys that are in [WWE] now. If anybody thinks that everybody there is 100-percent clean, they’ve got be smoking something,” he replied.

“I know they get drug tested and they do catch people, and people do get suspended, but I really don’t believe that everybody gets drug tested on the same level. I know the look of a person who looks like they’ve been on or off [steroids].”

“When we took them, it was totally legal to carry them on you.”

Animal stated last week during an interview with BetweenTheRopes.com that his brother John Laurinaitis, who reigns as WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, informed him that WWE had decided to cancel his scheduled live event appearances due to his aforementioned remarks. He added that he has not spoken to WWE since.

NY Law Firm Claims $5 Million From WWE In Injury Lawsuit

The law firm of Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. issued the following press release Sunday announcing a $5 million settlement with WWE following a motor vehicle accident involving a WWE employee in 2007.

World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. Sued for $5 Million

Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. recently accepted a settlement offer of $5 million after 4 weeks of trial on behalf of a client who was injured in a low impact motor vehicle accident in downtown Manhattan. The client suffered a knee injury which resulted in surgical procedures and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 12, 2011

Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., a leader among personal injury and medical malpractice firms in the New York area, recently settled a case (Index No 13451/08- Kimberly Benson v. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. and Matthew T. Yackeren) for $5 million involving a knee injury caused by a low-speed, low-impact motor vehicle accident.

According to court documents, On November 2, 2007, Kimberly Benson’s car was struck in a sideswipe collision by a vehicle operated by Matthew Yackeren, an employee of World Wrestling Federation Entertainment. As a result of the low impact motor vehicle accident that occurred at a low rate of speed, Ms. Benson suffered a knee injury.

According to the case, Yackeren was driving a commercial van in the financial district of downtown Manhattan. While attempting to pass traffic, he backed up and then struck Ms. Benson’s jeep in the back driver side bumper with the side of his van. Damage to both vehicles was minimal.

Court documents show that Ms. Benson, a 41 year old mother and phlebotomy manager with a pre-existing knee injury, suffered a fracture of the cartilage in her knee and underwent several surgical procedures. In addition to the pain, degeneration of soft tissue and difficulty ambulating, Benson also developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) aka Reflex Symptomatic Dystrophy (RSD), a debilitating chronic pain condition which rendered her disabled and incapable of working.

Benson sued World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and their driver, Matthew Yackeren, for past and future medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. The case (Index No 13451/08) went to trial, and the defense argued causation- the low impact accident that occurred at such a low rate of speed could not have caused an injury.

After four weeks of trial, both parties settled the case. Benson recovered $5 million from World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and Matthew Yackeren. Andrew L. Libo, the attorney for Benson from Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., was satisfied with the result. “Kimberly’s life and the life of her daughter will never be the same, due to this accident. We refused to settle this case before trial because we knew Kimberly deserved justice, and we were willing to fight as long as needed to ensure she was justly compensated.” The trial was conducted by Jeff S. Korek and Nicolas Bagley.

NXT Star Arrested This Year For Impersonating A Police Officer

It has come to light that WWE NXT Redemption contestant Lucky Cannon (real name Jonathan Emminger) was arrested earlier this year in Florida for impersonating a police officer.

Emminger, 27, was arrested on the morning of February 28, 2011 in Hillsbourgh, Florida and charged with falsely personating a law enforcement official. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 11:26 a.m. and subsequently released on $2,000 bail.

Emminger previously worked as a deputy sheriff for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department in Pinellas County, Florida, which could explain how he was able portray himself as a member of police.

This information is coming out now because his mug shot was recently cataloged on Google Images, the most comprehensive image search on the web.
