Jillian Hall Discusses Requesting Her Release, Unhappiness, More

Former WWE Diva, Jillian Hall joins Diva Dirt for her first post-WWE interview today. We spoke to Jillian about her release, the story behind her requesting her release, working as a trainer in FCW and much more. We discuss Jillian’s career from the independents to OVW, to SmackDown and Raw, including her thoughts on working with JBL, Melina and others. Jillian talks about her singing gimmick and why she wanted to drop it to be taken more seriously. She also discusses her infamous 5-minute long Divas Championship reign last year.

The interview can be downloaded/streamed here:

On requesting her release & unhappiness in WWE: “I asked for my release back in the beginning of September. I’d been thinking about it around the time of SummerSlam and the beginning of September, I decided to ask for my release. I had a talk with my boss [John Laurinaitis] and he told me that he didn’t really want to release me at the time. You know, me and John get along. I have no problem with the company, WWE was awesome to me. They were there for me through everything for a long time. They hired me when I was pretty much nothing and they kept me around. They never fired me; I saw a lot of people come & go but they kept me and I love them for that. I just wasn’t happy with where I was at the time so I did ask for myself.”

How she became a trainer in FCW & her eventual release: “He [John Laurinaitis] was going around finding other areas where I might be happy and one of the things that came up was maybe you could train the Divas in FCW since you live in Florida. I said, ‘I’m open to that’. I’m tired of traveling. I’d traveled for a long time. I wanted to sleep in my own bed for a week straight without having to leave for a little while. He said, ‘You’d only have to do a couple of days a week’ and I was fine with that. So we talked about it for a couple of weeks and I started doing that for a couple of months for a couple of months and then they came to terms with the actual release.”

Jim Ross Blogs About UFC 124, GSP vs. Silva

WWE Hal of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with some commentary on this past Saturday’s UFC 124 pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what Ross said about the show:

The Overal Show: “I enjoyed the PPV and felt that I got my monies worth. That is and should always be the bottom line of purchasing any PPV. UFC 124 delivered in the Octagon which is where UFC begins and ends.”

Georges St. Pierre’s Performance: “GSP was Rembrandt. His jabs were lethal…essentially toxic. Koscheck’s right eye looked like pulled pork (O.K. one BBQ reference…get over it.) St. Pierre had the crowd and the fight in the palm of his hand. He is money both in and out of the ring. GSP is the type of fighter that the UFC is smart in building around because he’s never going to embarrass the company and will always represent the sport in a classy way that will attract sponsors, casual fans and impress uninformed politicians.”

Josh Kozcheck: “Koscheck seemed to know early that Saturday night in Montreal wasn’t going to be his night and perhaps felt going the distance would be somewhat acceptable against, arguably, UFC’s top attraction. Koscheck is a tough kid who marketed this fight well and should earn a nice payday for paying the role of 1997 antagonist Shawn Michaels in Montreal. Someone needs to be the bad guy, in an organic and not over the top way, to assist in selling big time, UFC PPV main events. Koscheck handled that role well and he’s to be commended. Koscheck got whipped like a government mule but never quit.”

A GSP vs. Anderson Silva Dream Fight: “What’s next for GSP? Or perhaps the most relevant question is when will GSP fight Anderson Silva? That has seemingly become THE fight in UFC and seems ideal for the Rogers Centre in Toronto which is an arena that WWE has sold out for two Wrestlemanias as I recall. With a hot semi main event, I could see St. Pierre vs. Silva doing north of 50,000 fans and massive PPV numbers in the Dome in Toronto.”

As always, visit JRsBarBQ.com to check out Jim Ross’ great line of BBQ products.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett vs. The Miz for the WWE Title is being advertised locally as the dark match main event.

In a trivia note, Mendes has yet to win a singles match on WWE television since joining the main roster two years ago.

— After most of the audience had cleared out of Sadowski Field, Rey Mysterio took off his mask and gave it to a soldier. He asked those near him if anyone was going to take a picture and apparently no one did.

*Spoiler* Babyface Star Works As Heel At Tribute to the Troops

Melina performed as a heel at this afternoon’s Tribute to the Troops event in Fort Hood, Texas as she teamed up with Lay-Cool and Alicia Fox in a Santa’s Little Helper Match against Divas Champion Natalya, Kelly Kelly and The Bella Twins. The babyfaces went over with Kelly claiming the pinfall.

It was reported earlier this week by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that creative planned to turn Melina heel and have her feud with Divas Champion Natalya. The idea was first conceived a few weeks ago and it is said that Melina garnered heat backstage because she was negative on becoming an on-screen villain.

Meanwhile, a renewed relationship with John Morrison recently teased on Monday Night Raw is considered a dead idea.
