WWE’s Netflix Deal To Shape International Premium Live Events in 2025

WWE’s global reach is set to expand even further in 2025 as the company intensifies its focus on international markets. Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive VP of talent relations and head of communications, shared insights this week on the Sports Business Journal Sports Media podcast, discussing WWE’s evolving approach to premium live events (PLEs) and its groundbreaking partnership with Netflix.

“This year alone, we did more than half our (premium live events) outside the U.S.”

A major component of this international strategy is WWE’s collaboration with Netflix, which will now host PLEs for fans outside the U.S. Legentil explained that the partnership will influence the selection of future event locations.

“We’re going to be working with them [Netflix] hand-in-hand to select locations across the world where we can grow our audience and hopefully gain some subscribers for them.”

In 2024, WWE staged eight main-roster PLEs outside the United States, with notable events in Germany, Scotland, France, Australia, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. The trend continues in 2025, with Elimination Chamber confirmed for March 1 in Toronto, Canada. Meanwhile, UK fans eagerly await news of a potential WrestleMania, following John Cena’s tease during Money in the Bank 2023.

Drew McIntyre: ‘It’s Awesome’ to See Friends Succeed in AEW

Drew McIntyre is happy to have more places in wrestling where talents can make a living.

The Scottish Warrior returned to WWE during the December 2 Raw after going on a hiatus following the October 5 Hell In A Cell PPV. McIntyre has referred to the sacrifices he has made for his wrestling career in the promos he has cut since his return.

The former WWE Champion was asked for his thoughts on AEW during a recent TikTok live workout session. Drew McIntyre revealed that he spent his time off catching up on various wrestling promotions other than WWE.

“I’m happy to watch all wrestling, especially when I’m off. When I was out that three months, when one person called me the entire time I was out, that’s the time for me to catch up on everything. IMPACT, AEW, New Japan, the independents.”

So Many People Making Full Time Living: Drew McIntyre

When Drew McIntyre was released from his WWE contract following the 3MB stint in 2014, he had to rebuild himself from scratch. Starting off in IWC in Scotland, the wrestling veteran slowly re-established himself as a serious performer on smaller stages before getting a big break again.

The WWE star referenced this period of his career while discussing AEW and how it has provided a second chance to a lot of people that he didn’t get in 2014. He said that it’s great to see so many of his friends getting to make a full time living in other companies:

“I’m happy to see so many people I’m friends with making a full-time living. That wasn’t the case when I was fired in 2014 and reinvented what it meant to be a professional wrestler, using social media as I still do to this day at the top level.

It’s been going since 2014. To rebrand myself, to see how much the industry grew in those three years, and it led to so many places and so many people making a full-time living. It’s awesome.”

Drew McIntyre has reignited his feud with The OG Bloodline since returning to TV. After defeating Sami Zayn at Saturday Night’s Main Event, McIntyre proclaimed that there were ‘4 more’ opponents to go.

Inside The Rock’s Grueling Training for WWE WrestleMania 40

WWE’s resident Final Boss, The Rock, did not hold back when preparing for his much-anticipated return to the ring at this year’s WrestleMania. On Night One, The Rock competed in his first full-length match in over a decade, while Night Two saw him make a high-profile appearance in the main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the Brahma Bull reflected on the grueling preparation required to get back into peak ring-shape.

“It’s incredibly hard. The training becomes really extensive, and the training camp becomes extensive. I went [to] training camp for WrestleMania, which was about an eight- to nine-week training camp.”

Despite the intensity, the Hollywood A-Lister successfully powered through the rigorous training. Along the way, he had support from the NXT trio Gallus, who ensured his in-ring performance met fans’ high expectations.

The WWE Universe last saw The Rock during his surprise cameo at WWE Bad Blood, where he reignited his feud with Cody Rhodes. Speculation has since swirled about a potential appearance when WWE Raw debuts on Netflix, though no confirmation has been made.

With his WrestleMania comeback deemed a success, fans are already looking forward to seeing The Rock back in action in 2025, with a role at WrestleMania 41 looking increasingly likely. Stay tuned to SEScoops for updates on The Rock, who is holding nothing back to ensure he’s at his very best in the ring.

Dominik Mysterio Roasts CM Punk’s Moveset After WWE Return

Dominik Mysterio didn’t hold back his thoughts on CM Punk’s in-ring performance after their match at a WWE live event on December 26, 2023. This marked Punk’s first WWE match since the Royal Rumble in 2014, a significant moment for wrestling fans. Despite the historic nature of the bout, Mysterio seemed unimpressed by Punk’s approach in the ring, taking aim at the wrestling icon’s repertoire of moves—a term that has become a meme in recent weeks.

Decoding Dominik Mysterio’s New Tattoos Honoring Lucha Libre Legends

Speaking on No Contest Wrestling with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Dominik offered a sharp critique:

“I had the great dishonor of welcoming Punk back after ten long years. It was everything I expected it to be—just an old man trying to do his thing. Thinks he’s still got it. He went out there in some plain black underwear. Didn’t even have his gear. It was definitely a sight to see.”

– Dominik Mysterio

He went on to reflect on their shared history, referencing Punk’s feud with Rey Mysterio and a moment when Punk sang Happy Birthday to Dominik’s sister:

“I’m sure he remembers. He cornered my whole family back when he had that shitty long black hair. Now that I’m my own man, I’d love to get my hands on him again. I’ve seen what he can do—it’s nothing special. I know his moveset.”

– Dominik Mysterio

The term moveset has become a running joke in wrestling circles, spurred on by CM Punk’s recent dig at AEW rival Hangman Page’s use of the word. Punk mocked the term last week, leading to widespread commentary from wrestlers and fans alike. Mysterio’s jab is the latest in the ongoing meme-driven discourse surrounding Punk’s wrestling style.

Punk’s return to WWE has been a hot topic since his surprise appearance at Survivor Series 2023. While his match with Mysterio rekindled nostalgia for some, Dominik’s comments suggest not everyone is convinced of Punk’s current capabilities.

Punk’s next match is set for January 6, 2024, where he will face Seth Rollins during the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere. Fans eagerly await whether Punk can silence his critics or if the chatter about his moveset will persist.

Conor McGregor Vows To KO Logan Paul In Boxing Exhibition

Conor McGregor is feeling immensely confidence as he continuues to tease a potential showdown with Logan Paul, promising not just a win but a knockout of the “novice.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter), McGregor showcased his trademark bravado to hype up the possible fight.

Earlier this week, McGregor revealed discussions with the wealthy Ambani family about hosting a boxing exhibition in India against WWE’s resident “Maverick.” The MMA star has been out of competition since 2021, with a planned return to the octagon earlier this year canceled due to a broken toe. Meanwhile, Logan Paul recently suffered a defeat to LA Knight at SummerSlam 2024 in his most recent WWE appearance.

Logan Paul Joins WWE Raw On Netflix Roster

A Paul vs. McGregor bout would undoubtedly draw massive attention, but it could also spark controversy given both competitors’ histories. McGregor was recently found liable in a civil rape case involving Nikita Hand, resulting in a $250,000 payout to the victim, though the fighter intends to appeal. Paul has faced his share of scandals as well, both prior to and during his WWE tenure.

Paul has kept quiet about McGregor’s request for a match, but recently shared a screennshot of McGregor’s tweet with the ‘eyes’ emoji. The Prime viral sensation is at least entertaining McGregor’s trash talk, because he knows the value of keeping his name out there even if this never gets past the hype stage.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for updates on the hypothetical Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul fight, a possible collision between two of the biggest names in combat sports and entertainment.

Tito Santana Speaks Up About Old WWE Regime’s Treatment Of Legends

Tito Santana has opened up about the mistreatment of stars under the old WWE regime.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently had an interview with VOC Nation’s Wrestling with History podcast. He discussed things such as signing a new legends deal with the company, appearing at Saturday Night’s Main Event and more.

Discussing how the old management treated its stars, Santana claimed that they were not very nice. He noted how a lot of talents from their time went broke because of poor financial management:

“They weren’t very nice (to us). I’m doing ok, thank God. I had another career, and I didn’t blow my money away. But so many of my friends, you know, were just left in the dust… I gave Vince my notice – not too many people give Vince their notice – I gave Vince my notice in ’93.”

We Should Have Gotten Paid More: Tito Santana

Tito Santana had three different runs with WWF through his active years. The longest of the three runs lasted from 1983 to 1993. During this time, he became the first Mexican American wrestler to win the Intercontinental Championship.

The wrestling veteran also wrestled in the opening match at the very first WrestleMania from MSG in 1985 where he defeated The Executioner.

Speaking about his time in the company, the 71 year old claimed that the officials should have paid them a lot more than what they got:

“Should Vince have done a lot more with Tito Santana? I feel like, yeah. But I could have also done a lot worse without Vince McMahon. I appreciate everything he did. I was there longer than anyone else…

I got there before Hulk in 1983, and I was there when he left…Him and I were the only ones that were there for Wrestlemania one through nine…I think we should have gotten paid more than what we did, especially for our merchandise.

This new company is paying us more than what the WWF was paying us. They could have taken (better) care of the boys, but I don’t really hold any grudges.”

Santana also revealed that the new WWE management had tried to bring him in for appearances on multiple occasions in the past but he had declined the offer.

CM Punk Never Wanted To Leave WWE: “Stuff Happens”

CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE, a promotion that the Best In The World never wanted to leave in the first place. Speaking at this week’s Raw on Netflix event, Punk addressed his comeback at last year’s Survivor Series: WarGames.

“I never honestly wanted to leave, but you know, stuff happens. This [being back in WWE] has been a dream come true for me.”

Punk infamously walked out of WWE in January 2014, and has chalked up his decision to a number of factors. Not only did the former World Champion feel burned out, but a misdiagonsed staph infection, mixed with inadequate time to heal, led to his decision.

Punk was handed his termination papers on his wedding day in June of that year, timing that Vince McMahon would later state was an unfortunate coincidence. Now back in WWE under the creative direction of Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, Punk is already reasserting himself as a top name in wrestling, and plans to do so for a long time to come.

CM Punk Match Confirmed For WWE Raw Netflix Debut

Other Highlights

CM Punk had plenty to say during his appearance at the WWE Raw on Netflix launch event, including:

  • He said his torn triceps injury would’ve ended some other careers, adding that it’s the worst thing to happen to him.
  • Now that he’s back, Punk is seeing 2025 as a fresh start after his 2024 did not go according to plan.
  • Punk teased that he and others will “break new ground” on Netflix and said it’s “really exciting” to be a part of the January 6, move.

Ivar Opens Up About Living With Permanent Nerve Damage

Ivar of the War Raiders is thrilled to be back in the ring, though lingering effects from his recent injury continue to impact him. Alongside his partner Erik, the duo returned to action in October after significant absences for both men. For Ivar, his time away began in April due to a severe neck issue.

On the Insight podcast, Ivar provided an update on his recovery, noting significant improvements:

“I’ve got most of my mobility back to my neck. It’s a little stiff now because I have another herniation, but I still have very good range of motion.”

Despite his progress, Ivar acknowledged that some effects of the injury are permanent and will stay with him throughout his life.

“I do have permanent nerve damage and nerve pain in my hands, and that will never go away. That’s something I live with.”

These challenges haven’t stopped Ivar and Erik from reclaiming their spot at the top. On the latest episode of WWE Raw, the War Raiders captured the World Tag Team Championships with an assist from Damian Priest. The victory ended the 188-day reign of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, a run that saw only three televised title defenses.

The War Raiders Reflect On Long, Brutal Road After World Tag Title Victory

Ivar’s battle with permanent nerve damage underscores the physical toll professional wrestlers endure to pursue their dreams and entertain fans. Stay tuned to SEScoops for more updates on the War Raiders as they dominate the Raw tag team division.

Variety names Tony Khan, Nick Khan, TKO board to its 2024 ‘Dealmakers’ list

Variety, the long-running magazine covering the entertainment industry, named All-Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan and several members of WWE parent company TKO, including Nick Khan to its “Dealmakers 2024” in an article published on the magazine’s website on Wednesday.

Khan, AEW and the TKO board were one of the few non-agency or law firms named to the Dealmakers list this year, which included Audible and several lobbying and entertainment law firms.

Tony Khan was credited with AEW’s new three-year deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, five years after the company aired its first show on WBD television.

In October, five years to the week after Khan launched professional wrestling promotion AEW as a direct competitor to Vince McMahon’s long-dominant WWE, he closed a multi-year media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, worth a reported $185 million a year, that calls for AEW’s shows and events to be broadcast on TBS and TNT and stream on Max. The company is now valued at more than $2 billion, making it the third-most-valuable combat sports company in the world.

Ain’t bragging if it’s true: “Our new arrangement signifies that AEW will make history as the first professional wrestling promotion to simulcast events weekly on top cable channels and a top streaming platform,” says Khan.

The article called 2024 a year where “deals weren’t as plentiful or as rich, but necessity being the mother of invention, often more innovative.”

Longtime World Wrestling Entertainment executive and president Nick Khan, along with fellow TKO executives Ariel Emanuel, Mark Shapiro and Andrew Schleimer, were also named. Variety cited the Endeavor’s 2023 acquisition of WWE and WWE’s deal with Netflix.

Last year, Endeavor merged Ultimate Fighting Championship with World Wrestling Entertainment under the TKO Group Holdings banner. In January 2024, TKO’s leadership quadrumvirate closed a $5.2 billion, 10-year deal to make Netflix the exclusive home of WWE’s flagship show “Raw” in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Latin America and other territories beginning in January 2025. As part of the pact, Netflix will be the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S. from that date forward, giving roughly 80% of international territories immediate access to 100% its content, with the rest of the globe filling out their WWE lineups as outstanding deals expire.

“While the money is extraordinarily important, the downstream impact and ancillary benefits to being with the distributor and just south of 300 million homes globally was something that got us very excited,” says Schleimer.

Other members of the list included:

  • Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, the second-largest lobbying firm in the U.S.
  • Alter Kendrick and Baron, music lawyers who closed $1 billion in publishing and mater recording acquisitions in 2024.
  • Audible’s executive team
  • Perry, Plashuk, Lefebvre and Hill of Covington and Burling, law firm specializing in entertainment acquisitions
  • David Wright Tremaine, litigation law firm now advising on major entertainment projects
  • Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb and Dang, entertainment law firm
  • Nina Shaw of Del Shaw Moonves Tnaka Finkelstein Lezcano Bobb and Dang
  • DLA Piper, Hollywood legal firm
  • Francisco Arias of Fifth Season
  • Fox Rotschild, lawyers and talent reps

The magazine credited those on the list for maneuvering the economic ups and downs of the streaming bubble, COVID-19 and inflation, as well as strikes by the writers and actors unions.

Logan Paul Joins WWE Raw On Netflix Roster

Logan Paul is joining WWE Raw on Netflix.

The company presented a special kickoff event for their upcoming streaming debut at the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. The event featured a number of big names including Triple H, Rhea Ripley, Kevin Owens, Paul Heyman and more.

During a segment on the show, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce took the mic to introduce the newest member of his roster and out came none other than Logan Paul.

The YouTube star went on to cut a promo about being the best athlete present in the building and referenced Conor McGregor’s remarks about a potential match in India.

Paul also sent a message to the WWE roster saying ‘If you have something I want, I’m gonna take it.’ He ended the segment claiming that he’s a future World Champion.

Gunther Responds To Logan Paul

The promo got an instant response from the defending World Champion of the Red Brand, Gunther during his own segment on the show.

The Ring General made it clear that Logan will have to earn his shot at the title and if he ever does so, the World Champ will “smack the stupid smirk off his face.”

Apart from this, WWE made a number of big announcements for Raw’s January 6 Netflix debut including the confirmation of a highly anticipated match as the main event. You can check out more about it here.

Janel Grant’s Representative Criticizes WWE Amid Lee Fitting Allegations

This week, The New York Times reported that Lee Fitting, WWE’s Head of Media and Production, created a hostile work environment for women during his lengthy tenure with ESPN. Among his alleged actions, Fitting reportedly asked for the hotel room numbers of female staff and on at least one occasion, encouraged a staff member to sit on his lap.

In light of the report from The Athletic, representatives for Janel Grant issued the following statement:

Janel Grant’s Spokesperson Responds to New Allegations of Top WWE Producer’s Abusive Workplace History

WWE continues to cultivate an unsafe work environment by employing alleged predators and silencing survivors of harassment and workplace misconduct

NEW YORK – Today, Kendra Barkoff-Lamy, the spokesperson for Janel Grant, released the following statement on The Athletic’s new reporting of decades of sexual misconduct and workplace harassment by Lee Fitting, former ESPN Senior Vice President of Production and current WWE Head of Media & Production.

“How can WWE claim they are committed to improving the company’s culture, and at the same time, hire a man earlier this year who was accused of sexual misconduct and workplace harassment in his previous role? The allegations against Lee Fitting during his time at ESPN are extremely concerning. Revelations like this are why Janel Grant’s lawyers sent a letter to WWE and Endeavor, urging them to release all current and former employees from their NDAs. The same old boys club who enabled Janel Grant’s abuse are continuing to put alleged predators in leadership roles, and this pattern must change once and for all.”

In October, attorneys for Ms. Grant sent a letter to WWE President Nick Khan, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Endeavor (WWE’s parent company) CEO Ari Emanuel calling on WWE leadership to waive the company’s non-disclosure agreements and allow former and current employees, wrestlers and contractors to speak out about sexual misconduct, sexual assault, harassment, workplace aggression and the toxic culture at WWE. To date, there has been no response from WWE or Endeavor to the letter.

The full letter is available HERE

Grant alleges that Vince McMahon sexually abused and trafficked her during her time with WWE and that the company was complicit with the actions of the former Chairman. The case was recently unpaused while a federal investigation into McMahon is ongoing. A WWE spokesperson told the Times that they had no comment on the allegations against Fitting.

The event, streamed live on YouTube from WWE Headquarters, included appearances from numerous WWE Superstars and set the stage for what promises to be an exciting new era for WWE on Netflix.

Jesse Ventura Reflects on WWE Comeback: A Fresh Energy Backstage

This past Saturday night, Jesse “The Body” Ventura made a triumphant return to WWE as a commentator for Saturday Night’s Main Event. After decades away from the company, Ventura reflected on his experience in a heartfelt post on his Substack. He shared his thoughts on stepping back into the world of wrestling, connecting with the new generation of talent, and his satisfaction with WWE’s new leadership.

Ventura’s return was a nostalgic and meaningful moment for the wrestling legend, who credits his son, Tyrel Ventura, for helping make it happen. “First of all, it was truly an honor to come back home to the WWE,” he wrote. “I have to thank my son, Tyrel, for putting the wheels in motion last summer. It’s been such an incredible feeling to return to the place where my career essentially began or, more accurately, really took off from.”

A New Era in WWE Leadership

In his post, Ventura highlighted the fresh energy he felt backstage, contrasting it with the WWE of his era. “The biggest thing I noticed was how different the energy and vibe is backstage,” he said. “You don’t feel a battle of egos like you often did back in my day. From the executive level to the locker room level, you instead feel a very strong sense of teamwork and creativity.”

He attributed this transformation to the leadership of Paul “Triple H” Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan. Ventura was full of praise for their efforts to foster a collaborative and innovative atmosphere:

“I think Paul, Nick Khan, and the team at WWE are creating a truly incredible and unique environment unlike any I have seen before in the world of wrestling.”

The New Generation

Ventura also enjoyed reconnecting with the wrestling world by mentoring and engaging with the current roster. “I loved being backstage and sharing stories, advice, and laughs with some of this generation’s new talent,” he shared.

His return marks a significant chapter in his relationship with WWE. After being away for years due to his tumultuous history with Vince McMahon, Ventura is clearly delighted with the company’s new direction.

Fans can look forward to more of Ventura’s iconic commentary when Saturday Night’s Main Event returns on January 25, 2025, live from San Antonio, Texas.

WWE Exec Lee Fitting Accused of Misconduct During ESPN Tenure

Lee Fitting, WWE’s Head of Media and Production, was reportedly dismissed from ESPN in August 2023 following allegations of workplace misconduct. Fitting, who spent over 25 years with ESPN, is credited with elevating College GameDay into one of the network’s flagship programs. His departure was confirmed in a memo by ESPN executive Norby Williamson. According to reports, security accompanied Fitting out of the building on the day of his termination.

The allegations, detailed by The New York Times, include claims from anonymous former female ESPN employees who accused Fitting of creating a hostile work environment. They allege he objectified women, criticized their physical appearance, and made inappropriate jokes, some of a sexual nature.

  • In a 2012 meeting, Fitting reportedly commented that a woman (not present) could “open her throat” to down a beer, adding that this implied she’d excel at fellatio.
  • During a 2014 meeting, he allegedly told a woman without a chair, “I’ve got a seat for you right here,” while gesturing to his lap.
  • Asking female staffers for their hotel room numbers.
  • Bragging about his and his wife’s sex life to colleagues.
  • Dismissing complaints about crude remarks by labeling women as “no fun” or claiming his comments were acceptable as the women were “one of the guys.”
  • Telling a female talent he wanted her in a ponytail and allegedly saying, “Put your hair up in a ponytail before I do it for you,” after she had already been through hair and makeup.
  • Criticizing a female staffer’s on-air laugh, saying he found it annoying.

In 2023, a formal complaint to ESPN’s human resources department led to an internal investigation. Shortly thereafter, Fitting was dismissed from the company. One woman involved in the investigation told The New York Times, “It finally caught up to him.” Another remarked, “I can’t believe it took this long.” Fitting has denied some allegations through a spokesperson but declined to address claims of mistreatment or provide reasons for his departure from ESPN.

Fitting joined WWE later in 2023, succeeding Kevin Dunn as head of production. Fans have praised his contributions, particularly the removal of rapid camera cuts that defined Dunn’s 40-year tenure. Despite this acclaim, WWE declined to comment on the allegations against Fitting when approached by The New York Times.

WWE is currently facing unrelated legal challenges, including a lawsuit involving alleged abuse of minors, further fueling scrutiny of its corporate practices. This is a developing situation.

Carmella Talks Health, Motherhood, and WWE Comeback

Former WWE Women’s Champion Carmella has shared an emotional update on her health and life since stepping away from the spotlight. During a candid Instagram Live chat with fellow WWE star Bayley, Carmella opened up about the challenges of recovering from a nerve injury sustained during childbirth, her joy in motherhood, and her hopes of returning to the ring.

While she embraces her new role as a mom, the road to recovery has been a test of patience and determination. Read on as Carmella shares her journey of resilience and her longing to once again perform as the larger-than-life persona fans adore.

Becoming a Mother

In November 2023, Carmella and her husband, WWE commentator Corey Graves, welcomed their first child, Dimitri. Reflecting on this monumental life change, Carmella said during the live stream, “I love being a mom. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done ever, in my whole entire life.”

Motherhood has brought immense joy to the former WWE Superstar, but her delivery also marked the beginning of an unexpected health battle.

Health Challenges: Battling Drop Foot

During labor, Carmella experienced nerve damage resulting in a condition called drop foot, which impairs the ability to lift the front part of the foot. This condition, caused by damage to the peroneal nerve, can be particularly debilitating for an athlete.

In her conversation with Bayley, Carmella acknowledged the challenges of adapting to this condition. “This is the first major injury I’ve had in my entire career,” she shared, emphasizing the contrast to her injury-free decade-long wrestling tenure.

Working Towards Recovery

Carmella is actively addressing her condition with a combination of physical therapy, chiropractic treatments, and MRIs to monitor her progress. Recovery has been slow, but her determination remains steadfast. “Nerves do take a lot of time to heal, but eventually, we’ll get back to it,” she told Bayley during their chat.

Missing the WWE Ring

Though her recovery requires focus and time, Carmella admits to deeply missing her WWE persona and performing in front of fans. “Of course, I miss WWE. Of course, I miss everyone. I miss being Carmella. I miss performing. I miss it so much,” she confessed during the Instagram Live session.

Her connection to her fans and the adrenaline of performing continues to motivate her recovery journey, and she remains optimistic about returning to the ring.

Looking Ahead

Carmella’s candid conversation with Bayley revealed her determination to overcome this setback, embrace motherhood, and find her way back to WWE. With a strong support system and unwavering resilience, she is determined to write the next chapter of her remarkable journey. Fans eagerly await her return, confident she will step back into the ring stronger than ever.

Jesse Ventura Praises New WWE Management After Saturday Night’s Main Event

Jesse Ventura loved being part of the Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE decided to opt for the retro vibes when they revived Saturday Night’s Main Event as part of their new deal with NBC. Apart from using sets and costumes inspired by the classic shows, they also brought in legendary wrestler and broadcast personality Jesse Ventura to be a part of the event.

The former governor of Minnesota reflected on his experience at the event in a new post on his Substack.  He claimed to have been truly honored to be back home and thanked his son for putting the wheels for it in motion:

“First of all it was truly an honor to come back home to the WWE. First off, I have to thank my son, Tyrel Ventura, for putting the wheels in motion last summer. It’s been such an incredible feeling to return to the place where my career essentially began or, more accurately, really took off from.”

Strong Sense Of Teamwork: Jesse Ventura

Jesse Ventura was paired with Joe Tessitore as part of a special panel and he made multiple appearances during the event. The legendary wrestler was also on commentary for the main event match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens.

Writing about the feeling behind the scenes, he praised the new WWE regime for creating a positive environment. He claimed that the difference in energy and vibe backstage was the biggest thing he noticed during his visit:

“You don’t feel a battle of egos like you often did back in my day. From the executive level to the locker room level you instead feel a very strong sense of teamwork and creativity. Everyone is running in the same direction. Fuelled by a desire to see everyone succeed, not just themselves.”

The wrestling veteran noted that this positive change speaks volumes about the leadership of Triple H, Nick Khan, and the rest of the management team. He concluded his post saying that he loved being backstage sharing stories and having a laugh with the new generation of talent.

This return was not a onetime thing. WWE has already announced the date for the next edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event and Ventura has confirmed that he’ll be appearing at the show set for early 2025.

Update On LA Knight After Being Pulled From Appearance

LA Knight is not injured.

The former US Champion was pulled from a scheduled appearance at Luken’s Wine and Spirits on Friday, December 27. In the statement announcing Braun Strowman as his replacement, the establishment had originally claimed that the WWE star was dealing with an injury.

Fightful Select is now reporting however that this is not the case. According to them, WWE has confirmed that LA Knight is not injured and he was actually never approved for this particular appearance.

It’s unknown why the false announcement was made but things seem to have been rectified since then. The wine store has since deleted their original tweet claiming Knight was injured and they’re now simply promoting The Monster Among Men for the upcoming session:

LA Knight lost the US Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at the Survivor Series: WarGames event on November 30. This concluded his run with the title at 119 days.

He has since started a feud with Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline. Knight faced the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief in a match at the December 13 SmackDown but the bout ended in disqualification after Jacob Fatu and the rest of the faction got involved.

The SmackDown star is scheduled to go up against Bloodline again, this time in a six-man tag team match at the December 20 SmackDown. You can check out the spoiler results of the match and the rest of the show here.

LA Knight Misses Meet And Greet (Updated)

WWE will reportedly be without top star LA Knight for an undisclosed period due to an injury. Knight was originally slated to attend a meet-and-greet event at Luekens Wine & Spirits on December 27. However, the company announced via their Twitter/X account that Knight would be unable to participate due to injury.

The statement read:

“Important Update? While we’re sad to announce that WWE Superstar LA Knight is unable to attend the December 17th event due to injury, we’ve got great news: WWE Superstar Braun Strowman has stepped up to replace him! We’ll be making an announcement shortly with details—stay tuned!”

However, Fightful Select has since reported that Knight is not injured and was purely pulled from the appearance. WWE Star Hurt During Main Event Match

Prior to this week’s episode of WWE RAW at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA, WWE taped several matches for upcoming episodes of Speed and Main Event. Unfortunately, one star may have suffered an injury during the tapings.

NXT star Wes Lee appeared to have sustained a possible foot or ankle injury while working the Main Event tapings, according to PWInsider. While the severity of the injury is unconfirmed, Lee was reportedly evaluated immediately after the match.

The following matches were taped:

  • Wes Lee defeated Dion Lennox
  • Pete Dunne defeated Dragon Lee
  • Josh Briggs defeated Dante Chen

This development comes during a busy week for WWE, with upcoming episodes of NXT TV being taped, including tonight’s taping in Lowell, MA, before another round of tapings on Thursday.

Wes Lee has had an eventful year. After returning from injury in April, he confronted then-NXT North American Champion Oba Femi. Since then, he has feuded with stars like Josh Briggs, Gallus, and The Rascalz.

We wish Wes Lee a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon.

Chelsea Green Challenges Cardi B After Historic WWE Title Win

Chelsea Green is embracing her role as the first-ever WWE Women’s U.S. Champion, and the self-proclaimed “Hot Mess” is already setting her sights on a major celebrity challenge: Cardi B. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Green humorously declared herself the “longest-reigning champion of all time” before throwing down the challenge to the rap superstar.

While Cardi B has yet to step inside a WWE ring, her relationship with the company spans years. In 2021, Cardi’s hit song served as the SummerSlam theme, though plans for her in-ring appearance were scrapped after she announced her pregnancy. Recently, Cardi teamed up with Bianca Belair to promote SummerSlam 2025, which will take place at MetLife Stadium.

Green captured the Women’s U.S. Title at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, defeating Michin in the finals of a 12-woman tournament. The Canadian-born star overcame Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in the first round before besting Bayley in the semi-finals. Notably, this isn’t the first time the Hot Mess has had Cardi B in her sights.

Celebrity involvement in WWE has been a long-standing tradition, and a potential showdown between Chelsea Green and Cardi B would undoubtedly generate significant mainstream attention. For now, Green continues to celebrate her historic championship win—and, as she humorously points out, her record-setting reign as WWE Women’s U.S. Champion.

Dwayne Johnson’s Red One Smashes Prime Video Records

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson continues to dominate Hollywood and WWE alike, now adding another record-breaking accolade to his name. According to Deadline, Johnson’s new holiday film Red One shattered records with 50 million worldwide viewers in its first four days on Prime Video. The previous record-holder was Road House.

Red One follows Callum Drift (Johnson), the head of North Pole security, who assembles an elite team after Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) is kidnapped. The film also stars Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, and Lucy Liu. It debuted on Amazon Prime last weekend after a brief theatrical run.

This accolade is just the latest for Johnson, who continues to be one of the most successful names in Hollywood. Johnson recently made history by topping the box office with both Moana 2 and Red One. This marks the first time an actor has had two #1 films in the same month, a testament to his Hollywood dominance.

Meanwhile, in WWE, The Rock has been notably absent since his surprise appearance at WWE Bad Blood in October. However, anticipation for his return is high, particularly as Raw prepares for its Netflix debut. This week’s Raw featured, what some considered a subtle hint: a Rock-themed production truck spotted during a backstage segment where Adam Pearce discussed the January 6, show.

Matt Riddle Wishes He Could Have Finished The RK Bro Run In WWE

Matt Riddle would have loved to finish his story with Randy Orton.

When the Superking of Bros was released from his WWE contract in September 2023, it also effectively ended his run with The Viper. Randy had been on the shelf due to a prolonged back injury at the time, so Riddle did not get an on-screen chance to explain the end of RK Bro.

During a recent interview with the Developmentally Speaking podcast, Matt Riddle discussed his tag team with the wrestling veteran and commented on the abrupt end of his WWE run. He noted how Orton had to take time off a lot during that period:

“I wish I would have been able to finish the run with Randy, with his injuries and then when we first started teaming up, he got COVID and was out for a couple months, he got it really bad. Then with the injuries, he’d have to take weeks off here and there. I was honestly waiting for him to come back.”

It’d Be Nice To Finish That: Matt Riddle

The former US Champion claimed that the run of RK Bro was a storyline he would have loved to finish in an on-screen capacity. Even if it was something as simple as Randy Orton turning heel and attacking him:

“The one that I really wanted to finish was RK-Bro. RK-Bro has some untied ends, some loose ends if you will. It’d be nice to finish that, even if it’s just me getting punted, whatever. It’d be nice to put a period at the end of it.”

Riddle noted that despite the way his WWE run ended, him and Randy are still friends. He said that the Legend Killer still texts him all the time and that’s good enough for him.

Conor McGregor: I’ve Agreed to Box Logan Paul In India Before Returning to UFC

WWE’s Logan Paul could be stepping into a boxing ring against Conor McGregor soon enough, according to comments by the ‘Notorious’ Irish fighter. Taking to X, McGregor shared that he and Paul are in early talks for a boxing match in India.

McGregor is speaking with the Ambani family, the richest family in Asia. Mukesh Ambani serves as the Chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries. As the ninth-richest person on the planet with an estimated net worth of $100 billion, Ambani certainly has the resources to host McGregor Vs. Paul.

The Notorious One hasn’t fought since July 2021, during which he suffered a broken leg agaisnt Dustin Poirier. He was set to return against Michael Chandler, with their feud even being referenced on WWE Raw, before McGregor pulled out due to a broken toe.

McGregor has some boxing experience, including an exhibition with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather in 2017 for which he reportedly earned $130 million. Paul likewise has boxing experience and is 1-1 in professional bouts. The Maverick’s most recent win saw him defeat Dillon Danis in October of last year.

Conor McGregor In WWE?

Before his 2021 injury, many predicted that McGregor would one-day make his way to WWE, and the fighter himself has teased a move. In October 2024, McGregor shared a drink with Cody Rhodes, exciting fans eager to see the Notorious One in wrestling. In 2016, McGregor drew the ire of the wrestling world by tweeting that “I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sundays.”

Becky Lynch Calls Conor McGregor In WWE Very Likely

While McGregor certainly has star power, bringing him on board could be a PR disaster for WWE. Last month, McGregor was found liable for the assault of Nikita Hand in a civil rape case. McGregor was forced to pay his victim over $250,000 and intends to appeal the verdict.

As for Paul, he recently retired from WWE, though fans believe they’ve not seen the last of him. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on this major fight between two huge names in combat sports and entertainment.

The War Raiders Reflect On Long, Brutal Road After World Tag Title Victory

New World Tag Team Champions The War Raiders were in a reflective move following their first title victory in over half a decade. On Raw, the pair dethroned The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonagh) in the show’s main event. This marks Erik and Ivar’s second times as champions, after previously winning the Raw Tag Team Titles in October 2019.

This win comes after both Erik and Ivar were forced to miss months of action due to serious injuries. In a WWE Raw Digital Exclusive, Ivar spoke about the win, which came in his hometown of Boston.

“It’s been a long, long, hard, vicious, brutal, trying road… To be here, it couldn’t be more emotional and just perfect for me.”

Erik was similarly emotional following the victory, especially after what he and Ivar had been told in the past.

“There were points in the last five years, but also in the last ten years, where both of us were told more than once we’d never wrestle again. We might never walk again. I might not be able to hold my sons. Through all that, we’re still here.”

The Judgment Day had held the World Tag Team Titles since June, with their reign seeing criticism for a notable lack of defenses. Balor and McDonagh defended just one time in the first 100 days of their reign, and just three times on TV throughout their six-month reign.

Cody Rhodes Joining Liam Neeson & Pamela Anderson In Naked Gun Reboot

Meanwhile, in WWE, Rhodes is recovering following a brutal post-show attack by Kevin Owens after Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE’s first SNME show since 2008 saw Rhodes triumph over Owens in the main event, only to be ambushed afterward and hit with a package piledriver. In a storyline update, WWE reported that Rhodes is dealing with axial compression of the cervical spine and a cervical strain with spasm.
