Beth Phoenix revealed in a blog posted on WWE.com that she will be undergoing surgery this Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama to repair a torn ACL. Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure. The injury is expected to keep her sidelined for up to six months.
“So its with a heavy heart that I must inform the WWE Universe that I will be going in for surgery this Tuesday at the Dr. Andrews Medical Clinic,” Phoenix wrote. “I will be keeping you all updated. I would like to say thank you to everyone that has given me the strength to keep fighting my battles. This one is just a tiny bump in the road.”
Phoenix worked the match that aired on last night’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown with the injury. She noted that she suffered the injury during her match last week with Rosa Mendes on WWE Superstars. She initially believed it was a minor ankle injury, but ultimately, it was much more severe.
