TNA will be dropping huge money to run 3 shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City this summer, according to Prowrestling.net.
A high-level TNA source has revealed that the company will be paying $300,000 to rent out the Hammerstein Ballroom (and production costs) to run TNA TV tapings at the venue in June, July and August. The Hammerstein is one of the rowdiest venues in the country, having hosted the two ECW One Night Stand pay-per-views.
There is already some speculation that the expensive decision was made in an effort to impress Spike TV executives ahead of TNA’s TV contract expiring later this year. It’s unknown whether Spike will be contributing to this expenditure, as they’ve done with several of TNA’s high-priced contracts over the years.
It also remains to be seen how TNA talent reacts to this – with the company’s dire financial situation and wrestlers being forced to take pay cuts.
