Former Miss USA Rima Fakih was back in court this morning and plead no contest to her DUI case just hours before her trial was set to begin. She plead no contest to misdemeanor ‘driving while visibly impaired’ – in exchange for prosecutors dropping the more serious charge of driving while intoxicated.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 9 and she is facing up to 93 days in jail. She said today:
“You learn, you pay your price for making mistakes and you move on. I’m very happy I can put this behind me.”
Fakih was arrested in Detroit back on December 3rd after cops saw her speeding and weaving through traffic. According to the police report, Fakih was “disoriented” and slurring her speech. Her blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit and cops found a half-empty bottle of wine in the car.
