RVD made a surprise appearance on the WWE RAW Reunion special at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
As seen on the show, Sami Zayn was battling Rey Mysterio until he tried walking to the back. Before he could get to the stage, RVD, Sgt. Slaughter, Kurt Angle, and The Hurricane appeared. Zayn got back into the ring that led to him losing to Mysterio.
RVD was not advertised to appear on this show by WWE but the company was selling foam hands as his merchandise at the arena before the show.
RVD’s latest run with WWE was from June of 2013 through August of 2014. He made a one-off appearance at the 2014 Slammy Awards to present the Slammy Award for Extreme Moment of the Year.
Van Dam made his name known while working for ECW in the late 1990s, with the WWE in the early to mid-2000s, and then with TNA in the early 2010s. Van Dam gained his mainstream popularity by 1998 when he won the ECW World Television Championship, which he held for a record 700 days.
Back in April, it was announced that the former WWE, ECW and Impact Wrestling Champion had signed a new deal with Impact Wrestling. The length of the deal was not confirmed.
