Samoa Joe will remain as the WWE United States Champion, which is the secondary title on the SmackDown Live brand.
He successfully retained the title over Rey Mysterio in a match that took place at the WWE WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium on the WWE Network.
Joe won the United States Title when he beat Mysterio, Andrade, and former US Champion R-Truth in a Fatal 4-Way Match on the March 5th episode of the blue branded show in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This marked the first set of gold as part of the WWE main roster for the former two-time NXT Champion.
Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the next pay-per-view event, Money in the Bank, that goes down on May 19th in Hartford, Connecticut at the XL Center. The match was added to the card with little to no build which should make things interesting going forward.
