WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins is slated to make his next title defense against AJ Styles at Sunday’s Money In The Bank pay-per-view event in Hartford, CT at the XL Center that will air on the WWE Network.
It didn’t take Styles long to find himself in a championship match for the top title on the flagship show of WWE, Monday Night RAW. After beating Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe in a qualifying triple threat match and later defeating Baron Corbin, Styles is on his way to Money in the Bank.
Styles and Rollins took to their official Twitter account where they wrote the following about this contest that has been years in the making.
This program was finally put together once Rollins conquered “The Beast” Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 last month to claim the Universal Championship. Then, Styles, who is two-time WWE Champion after having success on SmackDown Live, was moved over to RAW during the 2019 Superstar Shake-up and emerged as the next challenger.
In some ways, this is a fantasy match for fans as the two stars haven’t worked a lot together due to them being on separate brands. That will change.
