Shayna Baszler will remain at the top of the WWE NXT women’s division as NXT Champion. Baszler beat Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, and Bianca Beliar in a Fatal 4-Way Match to retain the strap at NXT TakeOver: New York.
This was a key match in the women’s division as Baszler has been a top champion since winning the title back at the Evolution pay-per-view event in Long Island, New York at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in October.
There’s history with Baszler and Sane as Sane beat Shayna to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in her career at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV last year.
BelAir has a lot of potential and great backing from the WWE fans. There was some history as well between Baszler and Bianca. Baszler successfully retained the NXT Women’s Title against the young challenger at the WWE NXT TakeOver: Phoenix event over Royal Rumble weekend. BelAir had been a rising prospect in the division while making a name for herself while picking up big wins to get herself in this spot.
It will be interesting to see where WWE goes from here as they put on one heck of a match that delivered.
