WWE has been on a releasing spree over the past few weeks/months; with some surprise names being given their walking papers by the company.
With yesterday’s news of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Santana Garrett and Buddy Murphy being released; it has now also been revealed that the rest of the roster were informed of the situation before it was confirmed online by WWE.
Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that John Laurinaitis, WWE’s Head of Talent Relations, sent out text messages to the entire full roster.
According to a source in WWE we reached out to, the text message reads:
Due to Budget cuts the following talent were released today. Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, and Aleister Black. – John Laurinaitis
There are currently rumors of more talent being let go over the coming days/weeks. It’s not confirmed exactly where these cuts will be coming from, but it looks as though NXT UK might be on the list.
Braun Strowman was a main event performer for WWE, which shows the company is willing to go to great lengths to achieve their cost-cutting objective.
