The Fabulous Freebirds, one of the most colorful factions in pro wrestling history, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 32 weekend in Dallas, Texas. The news was first reported by Rolling Stone and was later confirmed by WWE.com.

Founded in 1979, Michael “P.S.” Hayes, Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy, Buddy “Jack” Roberts and Jimmy Garvin raised hell in every promotion they worked in, including the NWA, World Class, the WWF, UWF and WCW.

They will be inducted near Dallas, Texas, site of their legendary rivalry with The Von Erichs in the early 80’s. Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin will accept the induction on behalf of their fallen brothers, Terry Gordy passed away in 2001 while Buddy Roberts died in 2012.

WWE agent Michael Hayes told Rolling Stone, “Well, I don’t know what the rush was. Every year around this time, I’d be on pins and needles, hoping we’d get in, because our career speaks for itself. We put asses in seats…and I think you could take a poll of anybody who ever paid their hard-earned money to come see us, and they’d say they got more than their money’s worth. And that was huge to us, because we were wrestling fans too.”
