Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently spoke with Yahoo to promote the new “Hobbs and Shaw” movie.
In the interview, the former WWE Champion explained why he decided to choose Roman Reigns as his brother in the movie. It simply came down to Reigns being the first name that he thought of.
The Rock continued by stating that Reigns read for the role because they don’t believe in nepotism but rather taking care of each other. He added that Reigns had to earn it.
Rock noted that there are a lot of qualities about Reigns that make him appealing to a global audience.
“Obviously it shows when he’s able to make a transition like this, and the very first day, first take – bang! He knocked it out of the park. It was a very great feeling because then I was like, ‘Mic drop, b—–s. Look at my cousin.’”
First Trailer Of The Rock’s Fast And Furious Spin-Off ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Released
Reigns filmed his part while he was away from WWE to battle leukemia last year.
This is a spin-off film of the Fast & Furious series that is set to be released in theaters for fans to watch around the world on August 2nd.
As of this writing, Reigns doesn’t have an opponent at WWE’s next pay-per-view event, SummerSlam, that is scheduled to take place next month.
