-UFC and WWE slugged it out on Twitter for social media supremacy on Saturday evening. In the end, UFC came out on top with more worldwide Twitter trends, as well as the overall number one spot.
UFC trended “#FoxSports1” and “The1IsHere” for their efforts in launching the new FOX Sports 1 cable channel with their UFC Fight Night event featuring Chael Sonnen vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Additionally, “#UFCFightNight” went back and forth with the aforementioned topics for the number one spot all night.
Managing to stay strong at number two throughout most of the evening was “#WWE2K14” as well as “#Axxess” which went back-and-forth in the second and third spots.
Other trending terms included Conor McGregor, Urijah Faber, Manny Gamburyan, Matt Brown, Faber, Urijah Hall, and Chael Sonnen, to name a few.
