One of the must-see events of SummerSlam weekend was the Ringside With Jim Ross live show from the Gotham Comedy club on Friday night with special guest Paul Heyman.
As you may recall, this was the event that saw Heyman buy tempura shrimp for the crowd of over 300 fans (Video).
At the conclusion of the show, Heyman delivered an emotional speech about his longtime friend, who he credits for prolonging his career in the wrestling business and paving the way for his involvement with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). He then spoke about the tragic loss of JR’s beloved wife Jan earlier this year. Being someone who values his own privacy, he questioned why JR would want to get on stage in such an intimate setting after experiencing such a difficult personal loss. In a classy move at the end, Heyman wrapped up his speech and bid him and the audience farewell, allowing JR to end the show with the spotlight on him.
