WWE Announces 2017 Hall of Fame Warrior Award Recipient

WWE announced on Monday that this year’s WWE Hall of Fame Warrior Award recipient will be Eric LeGrand. LeGrand is a former Rutgers University football player who is now a motivational speaker and author. The news was first reported by ESPN.

LeGrand was paralyzed during a game back in 2010 and received the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the ESPY Awards in 2012. He founded the charity Team LeGrand charity back in 2013, which raises funds for research to find a cure for paralysis and to help improve the quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries. WWE will make a $25,000 donation to Team LeGrand.

“It is an absolute honor to be named the 2017 Warrior Award recipient,” said LeGrand. “I am truly grateful for WWE’s support of my personal journey, and I am proud to continue to be an example of strength for people everywhere.”

The Warrior Award will be presented at the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony on Friday, March 31st from Orlando, Florida.
