With the recent match announcements, the advertised card for the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view event has changed.
On Tuesday, along with the updated lineup, the official Wells Fargo Center website is now advertising WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defending the title against Samoa Joe. In an update, WWE has since announced the match.
Originally advertised for the show included Kingston defending against Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match, Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon and Elias as well as AJ Styles vs. Drew McIntyre. The website updated the lineup for a second time that saw McIntyre serving as McMahon’s tag team partner against Reigns while Styles’ opponent is listed as TBA.
Now, Styles doesn’t have an opponent listed. Also, on Monday’s RAW, WWE officially announced Reigns & The Undertaker vs. McMahon & McIntyre as well as RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Universal Champion Seth Rollins vs. Lacey Evans & Baron Corbin in a Mixed Tag Team Winner Take All Match.
The Extreme Rules pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, July 14th, 2019 in Philadelphia, PA.
WWE often takes full advantage of the “card subject to change” disclaimer. These matches indicate where WWE’s storyline plans are headed in the months ahead.
