This week’s episode of WWE NXT is a different type of show that is being built around Roderick Strong’s Open Challenge so let’s take a look at a preview for it.
Thus, it’s time to look ahead starting with tonight’s episode of NXT. This show features matches that were taped at two different locations.
Strong’s match was filmed in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University a few weeks ago as part of a dark segment. The other matches were filmed last week at the Friday Night SmackDown TV event in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center.
In the likely main event, Keith Lee and Lio Rush vs. Damian Priest and Tony Nese in a tag team match is expected to take place.
NXT Preview
WWE is advertising the following items for tonight’s broadcast:
- Open Challenge by NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong
- Keith Lee and Lio Rush vs. Damian Priest and Tony Nese
- Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Jack Gallagher
- Dominik Dijakovic vs. Bronson Reed
WWE will also be creating new programs and building on the hype for existing feuds.
The reason for the show being taped and not live on the USA Network is due to the company giving its talent time off for Christmas. Obviously, this show takes place on the holiday.
WWE taped this past Monday’s episode of RAW last week to give the crew time off. That will change starting Thursday as the main roster crew is back on the road.
NXT is different though as they won’t return for a live episode on the USA Network until the January 8th episode.
