WWE RAW Results – August 4, 2014

The Authority, Roman Reigns Kick Off RAW

This week’s edition of WWE RAW opens with various highlights of last week’s show, followed by the “King of Kings” theme song playing live in the arena as Michael Cole welcomes us to this week’s show.

Out walks Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Kane, all of which make their way to the ring to kick off this week’s show.

HHH starts off by mentioning that we’re just two weeks away from the biggest pay-per-view of the summer, which we can see live on the WWE Network for just $9.99 per month. He says he’s not one to pat himself on the back, but he just might, as this year’s SummerSlam card may be the best in history.

He runs down some of the big matches on the show, all-the-while blatantly plugging the WWE Network. I mean extremely blatant WWE Network promotion, to the point that he’s making a joke out of it.

From there, Stephanie begins to speak, but is immediately interupted by a ton of boo’s from the fans in the arena. She talks about her contract signing with Brie Bella later tonight before HHH does some blatant WWE Network plugs again. “The Game” then runs down a couple of additional SummerSlam matches before once again super-blatantly plugging the Network. “But wait, there’s more!”

Randy Orton takes it from there. Orton guarantees we will witness him continue to methodically decimate Roman Reigns. He talks about Reigns screwing up his chances of becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion again. As he continues to verbally dress-down Reigns, the former Shield star’s music plays.

Reigns makes his way to the ring through the crowd as the fans erupt. Reigns mentions that he took everything “The Viper” had to offer last week, yet he’s still standing right here. He says HHH mentions great deals, so he says he’ll beat Orton’s ass tonight — for free.

HHH takes over from there, notifying Reigns that he can have Orton at SummerSlam, but tonight — he has to get past a “Demon.” HHH turns to Kane and tells him that he expects to see “a Demon” tonight. He informs Reigns that he’ll be facing Kane in a “Last Man Standing” match. He tells Reigns not to go anywhere because that match is right now. We head to our first commercial break of the evening.

– Roman Reigns vs. Kane

When we return from commercial, Reigns and Kane are shown standing on opposite ends of the ring. The bell immediately sounds and the action begins. Reigns quickly gains the offensive upper-hand over “The Demon” as Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL explain the rules of a “Last Man Standing” match. They then ignore the action in the ring for a few moments while they shamelessly plug the WWE Network and all of the new deals involved with the “over-the-top” digital service.

Meanwhile, the action between Reigns and Kane spills out to the floor where Reigns establishes further dominance over “The Big Red Machine.” He beats Kane up all over the outside of the ring, slamming him into any-and-everything in sight.

Kane finally turns the tables and slams Reigns face-first into the ring steps. The referee counts as Reigns lays on the ground until Kane slams Reigns face-first into the ring post. We see some video replay highlights of these spots taking place as the announcers drive home the danger involved in a “Last Man Standing” match.

The action is still outside of the ring, however Reigns is now fully in control of the offensive momentum. It isn’t long, however, before Kane regains control of the match.

Kane has a kendo stick now, as he begins to smash it over the back of Reigns in repeated fashion. Kane continues to brutalize Reigns on the floor, leading to another attempted ten-count by referee Mike Chioda. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial. Or, well, the announcers try to send us to one, but the action continues for about five more seconds. Then, however, we finally cut to another commercial break.

We’re back from our second commercial break of the evening and the first thing we see is a double-count from the referee, as both Reigns and Kane are down and out in the ring. Both guys make it back to their feet at around the seven-count-mark and the pace of the action immediately picks up.

Reigns is having his way with Kane now, throwing him all over the place and brutalizinng him with many of his usual offensive moves. Reigns pulls a table from underneath the ring and throws it into the squared-circle.

Back in the ring now, Kane takes control of the offense, beating Reigns from one side of the ring to the other with high-impact moves. As Kane continues his beat down of Reigns, the former Shield member reverses the momentum and blasts “The Demon” out of nowhere with a Superman punch.

Kane is flat on his back but for whatever reason the referee did not begin a ten count. The announcers went crazy questioning why the ref didn’t count. Reigns, meanwhile, waited for Kane to get up and speared him down. After the spear, the referee does begin a ten count. Kane can’t make it to his feet by the count of ten. Roman Reigns wins.
