Randy Orton, Seth Rollins & The Authority Kick Off RAW
This week’s show opens up with a video package focusing on the situation involving Randy Orton and Seth Rollins/The Authority. From there, Randy Orton’s theme music hits. “The Viper” makes his way to the ring, where every member of The Authority is standing, as Michael Cole welcomes us to this week’s show, which emanates live from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Cole informs us that Orton will team up with Seth Rollins for a two-on-one handicap match against Roman Reigns in tonight’s main event. We shoot to the announce table for one final introduction, before heading back to the ring where Kane begins talking to Orton.
Kane officially welcomes Orton back into The Authority. Big Show continues on the mic, but is cut off by the crowd who boo him. Big Show yells at the fans and then continues. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, by the way, are not in the ring right now as part of The Authority. Big Show welcomes him back and shakes his hand and then passes the mic off to Jamie Noble.
Noble talks next, which leads to Orton bowing down to his level (because he’s short) to listen to him. Noble loses his control and calls Orton a no-good snake. Rollins cuts him off and takes the mic from him. Rollins mocks Noble with baby-talk and talks about how Noble’s feelings are just hurt because Orton hit him with an RKO recently. He asks Joey Mercury if he’s happy to have Orton back. He hands Mercury the mic but Mercury just hands it back to him.
Rollins says they’re J&J Security not “J&J Public Speaking.” Rollins says we need to address the elephant in the room.
Rollins continues, pointing out how everyone feels that Orton isn’t really part of The Authority, he’s just waiting to get revenge on Rollins. Rollins does his “nanny-nanny boo-boo” speech as he continues to brag that Orton stands side-by-side with him as part of The Authority. The fans start chanting “R-K-O, R-K-O!”
Rollins extends his hand and tells Orton, “welcome home.” Orton shakes it. Rollins tells everyone to stand up and pay homage to Orton, his partner for tonight. He gives Orton the mic.
Orton tells The Authority members that their words were very kind, but they left him thinking something — “What the hell happened to The Authority?” He asks them why they’re kissing his ass so much. Orton, one-by-one, talks trash about each member of The Authority, basically mocking them from becoming killers to ass-kissers. He ends by telling Rollins that he’s going to make him his bitch. Then, he says he’s just playing around with them all.
Rollins is the only one who laughs, the rest look serious and pissed. Rollins says Orton had him going. Rollins says tonight, he and his partner and family member — Orton — dismantle Roman Reigns. He has them all do a “that’s what’s best for business” chant. Rollins’ music plays as Orton smiles and mouths the words “I had you going” to each of them.
Daniel Bryan vs. Bad News Barrett
After the opening segment ends, Daniel Bryan’s theme hits and out he comes. Bryan leads the fans in a “Yes!” chant as he hops his way down to the ring with his hair in a poneytail. Lilian Garcia does the official introduction for Bryan and then Cole informs us that next — after the commercial break — Bryan will be in action against the WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett. On that note, we head to our first commercial break of the evening.
When we return from the break, Barrett makes his way to the ring. We see that R-Truth has joined the gang on commentary once again this week for this match.
D-Bry gets Barrett down early on with a big shot. Bryan drops another knee for a quick pin attempt. Bryan takes Barrett back down and works on the arm. Barrett turns it around and works Bryan over in the corner. Bryan counters and goes back to work on the arm. Bryan with a double underhook for a 2 count. Bryan keeps Barrett grounded by his arm again. Barrett fights up and into the corner but runs into an elbow.
Barrett has Bryan in the corner now and starts delivering some big knees to the mid-section. Barrett knocks Bryan out to the floor as we head to a mid-match commercial.
When we return from the break, we see the action still going on in the ring. We see a shot of Truth on commentary and we see that he has a big sack with him. Bryan ends up hitting his big running knee out of nowhere in the ring on Barrett for the 1-2-3. Bryan wins.
After the match, Barrett knocks out Bryan with his Bull Hammer Elbow. Barrett mocks Truth from inside the ring, until Dean Ambrose makes his way down. We head to a commercial break after the match.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
