WWE Smackdown Reaction 5/19/2016

This week’s Smackdown started off with a bang with a match between Owens and Cesaro.

Kevin Owens vs Cesaro

The Miz, Sami Zayn and Maryse all joined the announcer’s table for this match. Owens was constantly screaming at Zayn and the Miz during the match. Maryse even got involved in the match and distracted Cesaro. Once again, it was only a matter of time before one of the wrestlers in the match attacked Zayn or the Miz at ringside. Kevin Owens punched Zayn in the face and shortly after Cesaro pushed the Miz off his chair. Sami Zayn then tried to retaliate against Kevin Owens but Cesaro stopped him, which led to Owens stealing a victory by rolling Cesaro up while grabbing his tights. After the match, Owens applauded from the entrance ramp as the Sami Zayn hit the Helluva Kick on Cesaro and then the Miz hit Zayn with the Skull Crushing Finale.

Paige vs Dane Brooke

Becky Lynch joined the announcer’s table for this one. This was a back and forth match with the crowd heavily in favor of Paige. Dana Brooke wound up getting the victory in a relatively short match and the puzzling use of Paige in the WWE continues. At one point, she was thought to be the next big star in the Women’s division, as of now that doesn’t seem to be the case at all. Dana Brooke is being built up as an unstoppable force in the Women’s division.

Dolph Ziggler vs Sheamus

Sheamus was greeted with a “You look stupid!” chant at the beginning of the match. Sheamus then proceeded to dominate Ziggler for several minutes, before Dolph made his inevitable comeback. The match ended with a Super Kick out of nowhere by Dolph Ziggler on Sheamus. After the match, Baron Corbin came out and said that at Extreme Rules he is going to hurt Ziggler. Corbin added that since the match on Sunday is no disqualifications, there is nothing anybody can do to stop him.

Chris Jericho comes out to cut a promo on Dean Ambrose. The Asylum is lowered around Jericho and he points out each of the objects that are hanging from it. Jericho then added up all the days he will put Ambrose in the hospital due to him beating him with all of the objects that are hanging from the Asylum. Jericho’s calculations wound up totaling up to 40 days for Dean Ambrose in the hospital. A long-haired bearded camera man then slid into the ring behind Jericho, which turned out to be Dean Ambrose in costume. Ambrose then attacked Jericho and grabbed the kendo stick hanging from the Asylum. Ambrose hit Jericho with the kendo stick a few times before Jericho was able to escape the Asylum and run away. Ambrose stood in the middle of the ring laughing at Jericho as he retreated.

The New Day & Big Cass vs The Dudley Boyz & The Vaudevillians

The match started off with the New Day taking turns stomping on Bubba Ray Dudley in their corner. The crowd was chanting “How you doin?” during the match. The match turned when the Vaudevillians got Xavier Woods stuck in the ring. Every time Xavier Woods tried to get to the corner to tag someone else in, Simon Gotch and Aiden English prevented it. The Dudley Boyz were getting frustrated with the Vaudevillians because they were just tagging each other in and not tagging in D-Von or Bubba. Eventaully, Aiden English tagged in Bubba and the destruction of Xavier Woods continued. However, Bubba’s trash talk finally got the best of him which allowed Xavier Woods to finally tag in Big Cass. The Dudley Boyz were going for the 3-D on Big Cass, but he avoided it and kicked D-Von in the face. Big Cass then hit the East River Crossing, followed by the Empire Elbow on Bubba Ray Dudley for the victory. The finish to this match was clunky to say the least.

The Usos versus The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) in a Tornado Tag Team Match is announced for Extreme Rules.

Luke Gallows vs Roman Reigns

AJ Styles and Karl Anderson were in Gallows’ corner for the match. Thus, the Usos came out with Roman Reigns for the match.  As to be expected, Roman Reigns had the upper-hand in the beginning of this match. However, Gallows was able to slow Reigns down and for awhile was in control. That was short-lived, as Roman Reigns stormed back. While Reigns was going for the Spear on Gallows, AJ Styles grabbed Roman’s leg. The match ended in a disqualification, as Styles ordered Karl Anderson to interfere in the match and attack Roman Reigns. This led to yet another chaotic battle between Reigns & the Usos vs Styles, Gallows and Anderson. This time nobody really got the upper-hand and it was just mayhem outside of the ring. The show went off air with both AJ Styles and Roman Reigns fighting and tumbling over the announcer’s table.
