This week’s episode of WWE Smackdown kicked off with a Highlight Reel segment. Chris Jericho claimed that the rug he was standing on in the ring cost $20,000. Dean Ambrose came down to the ring as the guest on the Highlight Reel and instantly taunted Jericho over the expensive rug. Ambrose pretended to spill his coffee several times while Jericho flipped out. The rest of the competitors in the Money in the Bank ladder match this Sunday all came down to the ring. Jericho, Del Rio and Owens will be squaring off against Zayn, Ambrose and Cesaro later in the show. Jericho was rambling on about how his team is going to beat the team of Ambrose, Cesaro and Zayn. That is when Ambrose finally decided to pour his coffee on the $20,000 rug. This led to a brawl in the ring.
Reaction: I’ve never really understood the Jericho and Ambrose feud. They are fighting over plants, jackets and now a rug. It’s a little too goofy for me. The matches between the two are entertaining though.
NOOOOOO!!!! @TheDeanAmbrose just DESTROYED @IAmJericho's yak skinned carpet! #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/BWoX8DiZQU

Big Cass vs Aiden English vs Kofi Kingston vs Luke Gallows
During Enzo Amore’s entrance, Big E and the New Day completely cut him off while he was talking. Kofi Kingston wound up getting the victory over Aiden English after hitting the Trouble in Paradise. This was a pretty quick match. Even though every other member of the tag teams in the match were standing around outside the ring, there was no brawl or anything of note that happened after the match. Enzo Amore and Xavier Woods joined the announcer’s table for this match and that as entertaining as the match itself.
"I got plenty of time, I got no time for this" my absolute favorite @WWEAaLLday21 line. #HowYouDoin #SmackDown

Zack Ryder vs Baron Corbin
Dolph Ziggler joined the announcer’s table for this match. Zack Ryder got in a few moves early in the match, however Corbin quickly turned the tides. Corbin got the pinfall victory after hitting the End of Days. After the match, Corbin walked up to Ziggler and looked like he was going to attack him. Ziggler took his headset off and was telling Corbin to bring it on. Corbin smirked and walked away.
Reaction: The Corbin and Ziggler feud feels like it has gone on forever. There have been some entertaining moments during the feud, I’m just hoping that their match at Money in the Bank is the end of it.
Baron Corbin needs to move on to another rivalry after Sunday! #SmackDown

Rusev vs Kalisto
Kalisto was in the middle of doing his flip into the ring during his entrance when Rusev caught him and beat him down. Sin Cara came out and tried to help, but Rusev was able to get the upper-hand on him too. Titus O’Neil then came out and Rusev tried to get away, but Titus caught up to him. Titus was able to get in a couple of shots before Rusev scampered backstage.
Reaction: When Titus O’Neil first confronted Rusev, I thought it was a breathe of fresh air. Fast forward a few weeks and they are pretty much doing the same exact thing every show. Rusev attacks someone and Titus runs down to help. Hopefully their match for the United States Championship at Money in the Bank will be good, I don’t see Rusev losing the belt so soon but what do I know?

The Club was being interviewed by Renee Young backstage when the New Day showed up and proceeded to make fun of AJ Styles’ ridiculous haircut. This led to AJ Styles challenging Xavier Woods to a singles match, with both the Club and the New Day banned from ringside.
AJ Styles vs Xavier Woods
AJ Styles relentlessly attacked Xavier Woods’ knee throughout the match. Xavier Woods barely got in any offense and when he did it was quickly stopped by Styles. However, Xavier Woods was able to put together a good sequence culminating in an Elbow Drop from the top rope on Styles. However, it was not meant to be for Xavier Woods on this night he tapped out to the Calf Crusher. After the match, Styles kicked Xavier Woods out of the ring and claimed that is just a taste of what he is going to do to John Cena.
Reaction: This was a good match that served it’s purpose. AJ Styles gets the win and acts like a pompous jerk after the match. Glorious. Cena vs Styles should be very entertaining at Money in the Bank this Sunday.

Charlotte vs Natalya
Both Dana Brooke and Becky Lynch were ringside so it was inevitable this match was going to have a bizarre end to it. Dana Brooke was taunting Natalya with the WWE Women’s Championship when Becky Lynch attacked her. Brooke dropped the title in the ring during the attack, Charlotte through the title at Natalya’s feet and screamed for the ref to remove the title from the ring. As the ref was removing the title, Charlotte chop-blocked Natalya’s knee and then locked in the Figure-Eight for the victory.
Reaction: This reminded me of an Eddie Guerrero tactic. I kind of wish that the referee disqualified Natalya because he thought she was using the title. The tag team match between these four at Money in the Bank really has no buzz whatsoever. The only thing I can see happening that is interesting in that match is Dana Brooke turning on Charlotte and I’m not really sure how interesting that is anyway.
Can never win a match alone, Charlotte. Always gotta have someone to help you win… #SmackDown #WWE

Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn & Cesaro vs Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio
The match started out with everybody brawling, but wound up with Cesaro and Del Rio squaring off in the ring. Cesaro threw an upper-cut party for Del Rio, hitting him with several in a row. Cesaro put Del Rio in the Cesaro Swing, but Kevin Owens broke it up. Cesaro was then succesful in putting Kevin Owens in the Cesaro Swing but Chris Jericho broke it up. You guessed it, Cesaro then put Chris Jericho in the Cesaro Swing and then locked him in the Sharp Shooter. Jericho tapped out but he was not the legal man so the match continued. After the commercial break, the momentum of the match had changed and Del Rio was now dominating Cesaro. However, that momentum was short lived as Cesaro hit a huge Drop Kick on Del Rio and Sami Zayn was tagged in. Del Rio was able to tag in Jericho, who was greeted by Sami Zayn flying off the top rope. Eventually, Dean Ambrose was tagged in and he cleaned house. Unfortunately, Ambrose took one risk too many and ran into a Backstabber by Alberto Del Rio.
Things started breaking down when Cesaro accidentally hit Ambrose with a European Uppercut. Sami Zayn then accidentally flipped onto Cesaro outside of the ring. Kevin Owens decided to take out both of his teammates, leaving only him and Ambrose in the ring. Once again, Dean Ambrose had no issues with Owens and quickly defeated him with the Dirty Deeds.
Reaction: It seems like Dean Ambrose has pinned Kevin Owens 1,000 times. This was a fun and unpredictable match. The Money in the Bank ladder match Sunday with these six performers has the potential to steal the show.
So Dean Ambrose won the main event on Raw and on Smackdown. Yeah he's not winning the briefcase sunday.
