WWE SmackDown Results & Discussion (11/29)

smackdown live

The November 29, 2016 edition of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Colinial Life Arena in Columbia, SC. This is the last episode before Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view.

– SmackDown opens up with Renee Young in the ring standing in front of a table. She introduces SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss to sign the contract for their match on Sunday at TLC. Alexa dismisses Renee, and cuts a promo on Becky saying that the only reason Becky is the champion is because of “dumb, Irish luck.” Becky says Alexa should stop crying and moaning like a four-year old. Becky eventually decides she doesn’t want to wait until Sunday, and hits Alexa with a right hand across the table. Becky beats down Alexa in the ring and takes her up to the top turnbuckle, but then Alexa pushes Becky off and right through the table in the ring.

Kalisto & Dolph Ziggler def. Baron Corbin & The Miz via DQ: Baron Corbin starts off in control against Ziggler, then The Miz tags in and he brawls with Ziggler around ringside. Back in the ring, Ziggler gets the hot tag to Kalisto and he lays out The Miz. The Miz comes back with a big boot on Kalisto, then hits a baseball slide dropkick on Ziggler at ringside. Ziggler hits a superkick on The Miz and Kalisto hits a suicide dive on Corbin. Back in the ring, Kalisto rolls up The Miz, but Baron Corbin comes from behind and hits Kalisto with a steel chair. Kalisto and Ziggler get the win via DQ.

– American Alpha cuts a promo in the back about their upcoming match against Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. Immediately after, Wyatt and Orton cut a promo on American Alpha. Orton then turns to Luke Harper and challenges him to get the job done against Kane in singles action tonight. Orton says that he and Wyatt are the only two who matter.

– Carmella comes out to the ring with a mic and she starts talking trash about John Cena and Nikki Bella. Nikki hits the ring and spears Carmella. Nikki and Carmella brawl until Carmella eventually retreats up the ramp.

– Dean Ambrose is out next for the Ambrose Asylum. He introduces his guest, James Ellsworth, who thanks Dean Ambrose for helping him. Ambrose says Ellsworth doesn’t need to thank him, but he can wash his car and pick him up a six-pack. Dean asks Ellsworth is he’s rooting for him to beat AJ Styles at TLC on Sunday. Ellsworth says while he would love to see Dean win, he’s got three wins over AJ Styles, and if AJ retains the World Title, Ellsworth thinks he might have a shot at beating AJ a fourth time. This brings out the face that runs the place, AJ Styles, who comes down the ramp to interrupt. Styles stands on top of the announce table at ringside and tells Ellsworth that he’s nothing more than a prop whose only purpose is to insult AJ. AJ says that Ellsworth never would have had a shot at beating him if Ambrose didn’t interfere every time. Styles says he’s going to beat Ambrose so badly at TLC that he won’t be able to walk, and AJ dares Ellsworth to show up so AJ can get his hands on him with tables, ladders, and chairs. Ambrose warns AJ that there’s going to be carnage at TLC on Sunday, and that Ambrose will reclaim what’s rightfully his: The WWE World Title. AJ Styles shoves Ambrose into a ladder then out of the ring, then he throws Ellsworth across some chairs. AJ throws the steel ring steps at Ambrose at ringside, then rolls back in the ring and starts beating down Ellsworth. AJ grabs the ladder and slams it across Ellsworth’s back, then he throws Ellsworth out to ringside. AJ hits Ellsworth across the back with a steel chair, then sets up Ellsworth for a Styles Clash on the steel ring steps. AJ gets him up, and jumps off the ring steps with a Styles Clash on Ellsworth down to the ringside floor.

– We see Ellsworth being taken into an ambulance on a stretcher. James Ellsworth tells Ellsworth that this is his fault, and Ellsworth’s ambulance leaves the arena.

Kane def. Luke Harper: After some slow back-and-forth action in the opening minutes, Kane takes control with a DDT and a side walk slam. Kane hits a running clothesline in the corner, but Harper dodges another one and hits a splash in the corner of his own. They go to the top turnbuckle and Kane hits a superplex on Harper. Both men get up and start trading right hands in the middle of the ring, until Kane grabs Harper by the throat and hits a chokeslam for the win.

Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt def. American Alpha: The winner of this match will get a shot at Health Slater & Rhino’s Tag Team Titles. Jordan starts off with a series of arm drags on Orton, but Orton eventually drops him with a boot and tags in Bray. Bray gets fired up and beats down Jordan, then tags Orton back in. Orton hits a suplex then keeps Jordan grounded with a chin lock. Jordan runs the ropes and Gable tags in. Gable enters the ring with a flying cross body off the top on Orton, then he gets Orton in a hanging arm bar over the ring ropes. Gable climbs up top, but Bray knocks him off down to the ringside floor. Back in the ring, Bray hits a running clothesline in the corner, then a DDT on the apron before he tags Orton back in. Orton takes Gable up on the turnbuckle and hits a superplex off the very top rope. Jordan and Wyatt tag in, and Jordan hits a suplex on Wyatt for a two count. Gable hits a suicide dive on Orton at ringside, while back in the ring Wyatt comes back with a clothesline on Jordan. Jordan comes back and drops Wyatt with a German suplex, but then the lights cut out. When the lights are back on, Luke Harper is at ringside. Jordan is distracted by Harper, then turns around into Bray Wyatt who attempts the Sister Abigail. Gable makes the save with a dropkick on Wyatt, then they attempt the Grand Amplitude but Orton breaks it up. Orton hits an RKO on Gable, then Bray gets back up and hits the Sister Abigail on Jordan for the win. As The Wyatt Family celebrates in the ring, we see Heath Slater and Rhino watching on a monitor backstage. AJ Styles interrupts them and Slater and Rhino get in the champ’s face. Before anything happens, Dean Ambrose comes running in the room and starts beating down AJ. Ambrose brawls with AJ over a table and pummels him on the ground as SmackDown goes off the air.
