WWE RAW aired live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon this week. Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez defended the Women’s Tag Team Championships against Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky tonight. Johnny Gargano made his return to the ring against Chad Gable.

RAW Results (9/12)

  • Finn Balor def. Riddle

  • Johnny Gargano def. Chad Gable
  • Bianca Belair def. Sonya Deville to retain the RAW Women’s Championship
  • Omos def. enhancement talent
  • Edge def. Dominik Mysterio via DQ

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

Seth Rollins Doesn’t Want A Rematch With Riddle

Seth Rollins kicked off this week’s RAW and got a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Rollins asked if the crowd believes in karma and boasted about his victory over Riddle at Clash at the Castle. The audience sang his theme song before Seth brought up Riddle requesting a rematch. He stated that he’s not too interested in a rematch and crowd started chanting for it.

Rollins got pissed and told the crowd to shut up. The Visionary said that it has been far too long since he’s held championship gold but Riddle interrupted. Riddle marched down the entrance ramp, said “bro”, and attacked Rollins. The two traded punches in the ring until Riddle dumped Seth over the top rope. Seth bounced Riddle’s head off the announce table and tried to escape through the crowd.

Riddle chased after Seth and caught up to him. Rollins struck Riddle again and sprinted backstage. The lights went out and The Judment Day showed up. Finn Balor and Damian Priest offered Riddle a spot in the faction. Balor claimed that they’ve taken care of Rey Mysterio and Dominik is going to take care of Edge tonight.

The audience started chanting “no!” as Damian asked Riddle to join Judgment Day or fall against them. Riddle declined and said that right now he’s focused on Rollins. Balor joked that Portland has less laws and Riddle’s brain might be a little foggy (because of all the weed). Riddle knocked Balor down with a punch to the face as RAW went to a break.

Finn Balor def. Riddle, Seth Rollins Attacked

Riddle battled Finn Balor in a singles match. Damian Priest was ringside for the match. Finn dominated the action early and connected with a Neckbreaker for a near fall. Riddle tried to battle back but Balor hit him with another Neckbreaker on the ring apron as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Riddle connected with an overhead kick and followed it up with a forearm to the face. Riddle hit an Exploder Suplex and Balor rolled out of the ring to regroup. Riddle caught him with a kick and then a springboard Floating Bro onto Judgment Day below.

Rey Mysterio then showed up through the crowd and jumped onto Damian Priest ringside. Seth Rollins tried to attack Riddle but he was ready for it. Riddle was about to hit Seth with a DDT when Balor planted him with a slam. Finn followed it up with the Coup de Grace for the pinfall victory. After the match, Seth attacked and hit Riddle with the Stomp.

Damage CTRL Captured The Women’s Tag Titles

Aliyah & Raquel Rodriguez defended the Women’s Tag Team Championships against Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky (Damage CTRL) tonight on RAW. Bayley was ringside for the match. Damage CTRL controlled the action early and isolated Aliyah in the ring. Aliyah battled back and had the match won but Bayley put Iyo’s boot on the rope.

Raquel attacked Bayley but turned around into a Moonsault from Iyo. Back in the ring, Dakota Kai hit a Destroyer on Aliyah for the pinfall victory. Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Opinion: One has to wonder if Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez simply won the tournament just because everyone expected Damage CTRL to win. They served as transitional champions after the title was vacant for months. I have no idea what the point of that was.

Johnny Gargano Returned To the Ring, Theory Attacked

Johnny Gargano returned to the ring after 9 months away tonight on WWE RAW. He battled Chad Gable and Otis was ringside for the match. Chad got in some offense early but Johnny Wrestling battled back with a Hurricanrana. Johnny followed it up with a Dropkick and went for the Gargano Escape but Gable blocked it.

Gable was in control when RAW returned from a break and focused his attack on Johnny’s knee. Gargano connected with the slingshot Spear for a near fall. Chad connected with a slam and climbed to the top rope. Gargano rolled out of the way of a Moonsault but Gable caught him with a German Suplex for another two count.

Chad climbed back to the top turnbuckle and went for a Splash but Gargano got out of the way. Johnny quickly locked in the Gargano Escape but Gable broke free. Chad got Gargano in an Ankle Lock in the middle of the ring but he broke free. Johnny took Gable down with a Clothesline and both superstars fell to the canvas.

Gargano sent Gable out of the ring but Otis caught him. Johnny hit them both with a Suicide Dive and rolled Gable back into the ring. Johnny booted Otis away and planted Gable with a One Final Beat DDT for the pinfall victory. After the match, Otis went for an attack but Gargano was able to avoid him. Johnny posed on the entrance ramp but Theory attacked from behind. Theory hit him with the Money in the Bank briefcase and took a selfie with Alpha Academy.

Kevin Owens Confronted Austin Theory In A Great Promo

Theory cut a promo after the attack and claimed that Johnny Gargano was at the bottom of the food chain. The crowd kept chanting “what?!” and Theory shouted at them. Kevin Owens interrupted and Theory called him an idiot. Theory said he’s sick of his moments being ruined by Owens, Tyson Fury, etc. He vowed to take over the entire industry as the youngest MITB winner in history.

KO stated that Theory was the handpicked talent of the future but that is not the case anymore. Owens noted that guys like him and Gargano don’t look anything like Theory. Austin interrupted and said that Owens was right about that. Austin claimed that he’s done more in the past 5 months than KO and Gargano combined in the past five years.

Kevin called Austin a delusional jackass and claimed that Austin accomplished everything because he was handed a ton of opportunities. Owens noted that he doesn’t blame Theory, because the Universal Championship was handed to him back in the day. KO added that he is the complete opposite of Theory and he’s proud of that.

Owens wondered how many guys have passed through WWE just like Austin and fizzled out after going nowhere. KO then wondered how many guys like him and Gargano and made it to the top. Owens told Theory that people like him are a dime a dozen, while people like him and Gargano are the heart of this business.

He told Austin that he doesn’t believe he has what it takes to be the future. KO dared Theory to prove him wrong and start making moments for himself. Kevin smacked Theory in the face and shouted “that is how you become the face of WWE!”. Austin flexed and told KO that he’ll never be like him.

Owens then slapped Austin in the face even harder and the two traded punches before WWE officials broke it up. Theory was busted open in the brawl. KO versus Austin Theory was later announced for next week’s episode of WWE RAW.

Bianca Retained, Damage CTRL Interrupted

Bianca Belair issued an Open Challenge for the RAW Women’s Championship tonight. The EST stood in the ring for a bit when Sonya Deville’s music hit. Sonya said she didn’t forget about their past and blamed Bianca for costing her the job as WWE official. Belair then defended the RAW Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville.

Sonya got in some offense early and beat the champ down against the turnbuckle. Belair responded with a Clothesline and then a Dropkick. Bianca connected with a Suplex and a standing Moonsault for a two count. The action spilled out of the ring and Deville slammed Belair on the floor as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Deville was still in control and the action returned to the ring. The champion battled back and planted Sonya with a Suplex. Bianca bashed Deville into the turnbuckle and hit her with some knee strikes. Bianca followed it up with the KOD for the pinfall victory. Bianca Belair is still the RAW Women’s Champion.

After the match, Bayley interrupted Bianca’s celebration and wondered if she was inspired by Damage CTRL’s victory earlier. Bayley stated that they are going to take control of this whole division and tonight is just the beginning. She told Bianca that she should be embarrassed about getting pinned by her at Clash at the Castle because she hadn’t wrestled in over a year.

Bianca dared Bayley to get into the ring but Damage CTRL attacked from behind. Asuka and Alexa Bliss made the save and the heels retreated leaving Bayley alone in the ring. Bianca planted Bayley with a Spinebuster and booted her out of the ring.

Omos Dominated

Omos dominated two jobbers tonight on RAW as MVP was ringside. Omos won with ease and posed for the crowd after the match. There were technical difficulties with the broadcast before the match began.

Opinion: We’ve already seen Omos lose matches, arm wrestling contests, etc. It feels a little late to go back to squash matches at this point.

Bobby Lashley Will Defend US Title Against Seth Rollins Next Week On RAW

Lashley interrupted an interview with Seth Rollins backstage. Rollins claimed that he was the face of Monday Night RAW and Lashley disagreed. Bobby said he’s the United States Champion and “he who has the gold is the face of RAW”. Seth suggested a match against Lashley next week for the United States Championship and to find out who the face of RAW really is. Bobby accepted and stared at Rollins for a bit before leaving.

Dexter Lumis Got Inside The Miz’s House

While promoting Miz & Mrs., The Miz claimed that Dexter Lumis somehow got inside of his house. The interviewer asked what Dexter did to him and Miz got angry. He said he didn’t want to talk about it and left his house. Miz and Maryse drove away and Dexter Lumis was shown inside The Miz’s house. Dexter held up a weird Miz & Mrs. drawing to end the segment.

Judgment Day Attacked Edge

Edge battled Dominik Mysterio in tonight’s main event. Earlier on RAW, Dominik cut a backstage promo about stepping out of the shadow of his father. Rhea Ripley whispered something in Dominink’s ear and then accompanied him to the ring for the match.

Edge controlled the action early and bashed Dominik’s face off the barricade outside the ring. The Rated-R Superstar cleared off the announce table before launching Mysterio into the steel steps. Edge booted Dominik in the face and rolled him back into the ring. Rhea Ripley hit Edge with a cheap shot and laughed ringside. Dominik capitalized by shoving Edge into the steel steps as RAW went to the final commercial break of the night.

When RAW returned, Dominik was in control and connected with a Frog Splash off the top rope for a near fall. Edge booted Dominik and sent him flying into the ring post. Edge connected with the Edgecution for a near fall. The Rated-R Superstar followed it up with an Impaler DDT and both superstars were down on the canvas.

Edge got up first to a big pop from the crowd. Dominik dodged a Spear and locked in a Half Crab in the middle of the ring. Edge countered into an inside cradle for a two count. Edge tied Dominik’s arms in the top rope and started unloading punches to his face as the crowd chanted along.

The referee pushed Dominik away at a five count and Edge returned to punch him in the face some more. Once again, the referee backed Edge away. Edge was about to hit Dominik with a Spear but Rey got in the way. Edge shoved Rey Mysterio out of the ring and Damian Priest attacked. Judgment Day beat Edge down and gave Dominik a steel chair. Dominik then started bashing Edge over and over in the knee with the steel chair as the crowd booed. Balor then hit the Coup de Grace on Edge’s knee. Judgment Day posed in the ring to a chorus of boos as RAW went off the air.

Final Thoughts: It is odd that security was so quick to rush the ring while Owens and Theory were trading punches but allowed Edge to get brutally attacked for several minutes. Overall, RAW wasn’t anything special this week but the card for next week’s show looks strong.

ROH TV Championship Match Set For Next Week

ROH TV Champion (ROH doesn’t have a TV show at the moment) Samoa Joe made his way to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Joe said he’s open for business before he was interrupted by Mark Sterling. Mark noted that Tony Nese has more abs than Samoa Joe and claimed that Josh Woods deserves a title shot. Samoa Joe accepted but Mark delated the match until next week’s Rampage.

Opinion: The crowd let out an exhausted boo when Mark Sterling and the funky bunch interrupted. Samoa Joe versus Josh Woods might be great but there’s no momentum at all for the match following this segment.

Miro Wants The Title

Miro cut another ominous promo from a poorly lit room tonight on Rampage. He spoke about God, his wife, and complained about the “lesser” men battling for “his” title in the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions.

Serena Deeb def. Madison Rayne

Serena Deeb squared off against Madison Rayne tonight on AEW Rampage. Madison controlled the action early but Deeb battled back with a slam. Serena bashed Madison’s knee into the canvas several times before applying a Half Crab for the quick submission victory.

When Rampage returned, Claudio launched Harwood into the ring post and the challenger fell to the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Claudio remained in control and locked in an Abdominal Stretch. Harwood countered into an armdrag but the champ shrugged it off and leveled Dax with a lariat for a near fall.

Harwood hit a slam and followed it up with a headbutt off the top rope for a two count. Claudio went for an uppercut but Dax blocked it. Harwood connected with a Powerbomb and went for the cover but Claudio was able to kick out and the match continued.

Dax connected with a German Suplex before perching Claudio up on the top turnbuckle. Harwood went for another Suplex but Castagnoli countered into a Crossbody for a near fall. Castagnoli got Harwood in The Swing for several rotations before locking in a Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring.

Harwood tried to crawl to the ropes but Claudio dragged him back to the center. Dax then escaped and locked in a Sharpshooter on the champion in the middle of the ring. Claudio escaped with several forearm shots to the face and got Dax back in the Sharpshooter for the submission victory. Claudio Castagnoli is still the ROH Champion. William Regal raised Dax’s hand and Harwood shook hands with Castagnoli to close the show.

Final Thoughts: AEW has a long way to go to get people invested in tuning into Rampage every week again. Tonight was a solid show and hopefully more stars are featured on Friday in addition to the changes moving forward.

Jey wasn’t interested in a high-five and noted that Roman Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Jey boasted above Roman beating Drew McIntyre on his own turf at Clash at the Castle. The Usos introduced Solo Sikoa to the group and he made his way to the ring. Solo announced that he was here to stay before Drew McIntyre interrupted.

Drew marched down to the ring with a steel chair and everyone retreated besides Sikoa. Sami jumped in front of a chair shot before the Bloodline retreated. McIntyre shouted that he wanted a match against Solo tonight as SmackDown went to a commercial break. Later on SmackDown, Sami informed Solo Sikoa that he doesn’t have to go into the battle against McIntyre alone. Jey shouted “he know” and Sami hilariously responded with “I know he know”. It was decided that all of The Bloodline will be ringside for the match later tonight.

Opinion: Sami Zayn has always been great but he has become one of the most consistently entertaining performers WWE has to offer. He’s fantastic in the ring and his comedic timing during these segments is impeccable.

Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah Picked Up A Win

When SmackDown returned, Sami caught Drew with a cheap shot while the referee was distracted. Solo capitalized with a Uranage and went for the cover but McIntyre kicked out at two.

McIntyre knocked The Usos off the apron and then dragged Sami by the hair. McIntyre launched Sami across the ring and set up for a Claymore. Drew went for the Claymore but Solo caught him with a Superkick for a near fall. Street Profits rushed down the ring to help and brawled with The Usos. Montez climbed to the top rope and hit the Frog Splash from the heavens onto everyone.

Drew hit a Claymore but Solo fell out of the ring. Karrion Kross (and his black & white filter) showed up and he choked out McIntyre with the Kross Jacket to close the show.

Final Thoughts: Solo Sikoa impressed in his debut and this was a good way to get out of handing him a pinfall or submission loss in his debut. Overall, SmackDown was a decent show this week. The Fatal 5-Way was disappointing but the 6-man tag to begin the night stole the show.

Velveteen Dream Allegedly Bit Man & Threatened to Kill in Battery Arrest

Last month, Patrick Clark, aka Velveteen Dream, was arrested twice.

On August 20, Clark was arrested over an alleged first-degree battery, and was arrested again six days later for a violation of probation by the Orlando Police Department.

Battery

TMZ has added new details to Clark’s first arrest from last month, which is reported to have happened around 8:45pm EST at the Club Orlando fitness facility in Orlando, Florida.

Officers connected to the case claimed that Clark was confronted by a senior employee of a gym, who informed the wrestler that he had to vacate the area of the gym as it was due to cleaning.

Clark reportedly became “irate and argumentative” and after things escalated, the ex-NXT Superstar was told to leave the gym entirely.

Threats

After being ordered to leave the gym, Clark is reported to have become more aggressive at the employee.

TMZ’s report states that Clark threatened to kill the man, before punching him in the face.

Officers said the gym employee told them the two then got into a fight, during which Clark bit him on the left side of his chest, near his armpit.

The two were separated by other employees of the gym.

According to the documents, officers arrested Clark after they observed teeth marks on the employee.

The Plea

According to court records, Clark has been charged with two misdemeanors: battery and trespassing on a property after warning.

Clark’s attorney has filed a not guilty plea in this case.

10 Takeaways From AEW Dynamite (9/7): MJF Speaks, New Champions, Titles Vacated, Jon Moxley, More

AEW Dynamite aired live from the Keybank Center in Buffalo, NY. Wheeler Yuta defended the ROH Pure Championship against Daniel Garcia in the main event. AEW President Tony Khan addressed the situation with the AEW & Trios Championships and MJF spoke after winning the Casino Ladder match at All Out.

Dynamite Results (9/7)

  • Death Triangle def. Best Friends & Orange Cassidy to become the new Trios Champions
  • Toni Storm def. Penelope Ford
  • Wardlow def. Tony Nese to retain the TNT Championship (squash match)
  • Bryan Danielson def. Hangman Adam Page to advance to the semifinals of the AEW Championship tournament
  • Daniel Garcia def. Wheeler Yuta to become the new ROH Pure Champion

Here are 10 takeaways from this week’s AEW Dynamite

Tony Khan Vacated Both the AEW & Trios Championships

Tony Khan addressed the crowd via a backstage video. Tony Khan announced that both the AEW Championship and the Trios Championships have been vacated. Tony announced that the new Trios Champions will be crowned in the first match of the night and the new AEW Champion will be determined in a tournament ending at Grand Slam.

Note: Tony Khan provided no reason as to why the titles were vacated. He did not mention the brawl between The Elite, CM Punk, and Ace Steel. None of the wrestlers involved in the incident had their names mentioned during the show likely for legal reasons.

MJF Pretended to be a Babyface Before Showing His True Colors

Maxwell Jacob Friedman came to the ring in a Bills jersey and announced that the devil is back. MJF admitted that he said some offensive things the last time they saw him and the crowd chanted “you were right!”.

MJF said that he loves AEW and will never leave this place. MJF kept making jokes before announcing that why he’s not in the tournament. He said he’s got a chip that gives him a title shot whenever he wants. MJF stated that we are not in dark times, they just need leadership and he can’t think of someone more trustworthy than himself. Maxwell added that he’s going to lead AEW to the promise land before Jon Moxley interrupted.

Moxley made his way through the crowd and got into the ring with Maxwell. Jon told MJF that he’s full of crap. MJF then ripped off the Bills jersey and wiped his buttocks with it before shouting “Josh Allen sucks!”. Maxwell pointed out that Jon went to sleep on Sunday but he might have a point.

MJF suggested that maybe he looks at the AEW Championship as a bargaining chip for WWE. Maxwell added that maybe he’ll get to work at a real wrestling company and for the only Khan that matters in the wrestling industry, Nick Khan. Moxley challenged him to a fight but MJF exited the ring.

Opinion: MJF is in an unbelievable position right now. There is no way WWE wouldn’t want to sign him, but at this point he should Tony Khan for the world. He’s an undeniable talent and the person All Elite Wrestling should be trying to build around.

Jon Moxley Delivered a Passionate Promo About What it Means to be AEW Champion

Moxley joked that MJF’s theme music sucks before he exited the ring. Jon said he’s pissed off and embarrassed about what happened. Jon added that the AEW World Champion represents the freedom to be as great as you are willing to dare to be. Moxley was very passionate during this promo and the crowd chanted his name.

Jon noted that he lost on Sunday and that is on him. Moxley mentioned the names in the tournament and said that winners always when the game is on the line. Jon stood tall in the ring and said that it is time to be a legend to close the promo.

Opinion: This was a tremendous promo by Moxley. His matches might not be for everyone but there is no denying that he cares about the company above all else. Unfortunately, that cannot be said for a lot of the top talent at the moment.

Death Triangle are the new Trios Champions

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent) & Orange Cassidy battled Death Triangle (PAC, Rey Fenix, Pentagon Jr) to crowd the new Trios Champions. Best Friends dominated most of the match early and isolated Rey Fenix in the ring.

Chuck and Trent shared a hug as the crowd popped. Orange Cassidy planted Pac with a German Suplex and went for an Orange Punch but Penta broke it up. Trent connected with a Code Red for a near fall as the crowd chanted “this is awesome!”. Death Triangle got Chuck alone in the ring and Pac hit him with the Black Arrow for the pinfall victory. Death Triangle are the new Trios Champions.

Opinion: The crowd was very into this match and it added a lot to it. The Trios Championships could not have gotten off to a worse start than what has happened. The Elite won the finals of the tournament at All Out and threw them away a few hours later. Hopefully, Death Triangle can salvage the titles but AEW is already having a hell of a time making Pac’s All-Atlantic Championship relevant.

Toni Storm def. Penelope Ford

AEW Interim Champion Toni Storm battled Penelope Ford tonight on Dynamite. Kip Sabian accompanied Penelope to the ring while wearing the box over his head again. The action spilled out of the ring and Penelope sent the champ into the steel steps. When Dynamite returned, Toni battled back and hit Sweet Cheeks Music (Hip Attack). Penelope tried to battle back but Storm prevailed by rolling her up for the pinfall victory.

Wardlow Dominated & Retained the TNT Title

Wardlow defended the TNT Championship against Tony Nese tonight on Dynamite. This was a complete squash by the TNT Champion. Wardlow hit a few Powerbombs and retained the title with ease.

Swerve in our Glory vs. The Acclaimed II Announced For Grand Slam

The Acclaimed made their way to the ring with Billy Gunn. Max Caster was about to rap but was interrupted by AEW Tag Team Champion Swerve Strickland. Swerve said it was a joke that The Acclaimed would become champs. Billy Gunn interrupted and told Swerve that this isn’t his house anymore. Anthony Bowens said that they have another shot at the AEW Team Championships at Grand Slam because everyone loves The Acclaimed. Bowens then shouted “scissor me Daddy Ass!” at Billy Gunn to close the promo.

Opinion: I thought this was the best match of All Out and am excited to see the rematch. I am wondering now that The Elite aren’t around if FTR might actually get a shot at the AEW Tag Team championships after being ranked #1 for an eternity. Cash Wheeler seems to believe so.

Bryan Danielson will Battle Chris Jericho Again Next Week in the Semifinals of the AEW Championship Tournament

Bryan Danielson battled Hangman Adam Page tonight in the AEW Championship tournament. The winner of the match will face Chris Jericho next week in the semifinals. Hangman controlled the match early and leveled Danielson with a Clothesline. Hangman sent Bryan out of the ring and went after him. Danielson shoved Hangman into the ring post and smirked as the show went to a commercial.

When Dynamite returned, Hangman connected with a Powerbomb for a near fall. Danielson went for a Suicide Dive but Hangman countered into another Powerbomb on the ring apron. Back in the ring, Hangman went for the Buckshot Lariat but Danielson ducked. Bryan went for the LeBell Lock but transitioned into a roll-up for the victory.

Opinion: You wouldn’t think it, but Danielson and Jericho actually had a solid match at AEW All Out. Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by the brawl and also the All Out being far too long of a show with way too many matches.

Stokely Hathaway’s Crew Attacked a member of AEW’s Production Team

Stokely Hathaway, Gunn Club, Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty, and W. Morrissey were about to cut a promo when a crew member tried to cut them off because they were low on time. Hathaway bashed him over the head with a microphone and his crew beat the hell out of the poor crew member.

Daniel Garcia Captured The ROH Championship

Wheeler Yuta defended the ROH Pure Championship against Daniel Garcia in the main event of Dynamite. It was announced that Claudio Castagnoli will defend the ROH Championship against Dax Harwood on Rampage. Jericho Appreciation Society was not ringside for the match.

The action started back and forth, with Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta taking control as Dynamite went to the final break of the night. Both men were on the canvas when Dynamite returned. Daniel Garcia locked in a submission and tapped out Wheeler Yuta.

After the match, confetti reigned down as Garcia celebrated in the ring. Bryan Danielson came down to the ring as Wheeler & Daniel Garcia shook hands. Daniel Garcia then put the ROH Pure Champion on Daniel as Chris Jericho flipped out on the entrance ramp as Dynamite went off the air.

Final Thoughts: AEW needed to put on a solid show tonight after a chaotic weekend and they delivered. It appeared that everyone put their best forward for at least a night. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and the company can back on track.
