Juice Robinson Replaced In AEW Continental Classic Due To Injury

Juice Robinson has officially been replaced in the ongoing AEW Continental Classic tournament due to his injury.

Will Ospreay defeated Robinson in a C2 Gold League match last week. The bout that aired on the November 27 Collision was taped after the November 24 episode of Dynamite. The former NJPW star was then spotted on crutches during the weekend’s WrestleCade event, sparking speculations about his health.

AEW president Tony Khan confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Robinson is indeed dealing with an injury. He announced on Twitter that Kommander will be replacing the injured star in the ongoing tournament:

The second annual Continental Classic tournament features names such as Claudio Castagnoli, Darby Allin, Brody King, Will Ospreay, and Ricochet in the Gold League. As of this Tuesday, Ospreay, King and Castagnoli, each have earned three points in the tournament.

On the Blue side, Shelton Benjamin and Kyle Fletcher have scored 3 points each. The current Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and TNT Champion Daniel Garcia have had to share one point each after their match went into a time-limit draw. Both Mark Briscoe and The Beast Mortos have yet to earn any points.

AEW has changed the rules for the Continental Classic semifinals this year with the matches taking place at the Worlds End PPV itself. You can check out more details here.

Tony Khan Reveals Big Continental Classic Fight For 12/4 Dynamite

Tony Khan continues to cultivate the scorecard for the ongoing AEW Continental Classic.

As WWE Survivor Series set to commence on Saturday evening, the AEW President took to social media to announce a round two fight for the round robin tournament. It will be Shelton Benjamin taking on Kyle Fletcher for the 12/4 episode of AEW Dynamite. Khan hyped the match, noting that Benjamin are the two top names in their “league” going mono-a-mono.

“The current Top 2 in the C2 Blue League will fight 1-on-1: Shelton Benjamin vs Kyle Fletcher. THIS WEDNESDAY!”

The Continental Classic started up on the pre-Thanksgiving episode of AEW Dynamite as Shelton Benjamin defeated former ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe via a clean pinfall following a powerslam.

As for Fletcher, the adversary of Will Ospreay upended the Beast Mortos on this week’s episode of AEW Collision after nailing the bullheadecd luchador with a brainbuster. The match-up itself provides to be an intriguing one as Benjamin and Fletcher are both top heels in the company, also being involved in their respective heel factions. Benjamin is notoriously apart of The Hurt Syndicate alongside MVP and Bobby Lashley while Fletcher is a member of the revamped Don Callis Family. Fletcher will look to continue the hot hand as he ended up definitively defeating Ospreay earlier this week at AEW Full Gear. Ospreay is aiming to rebound from that loss as on that same episode of Collision, he defeated Juice Robinson in the ‘Gold League’ side of the Classic. Unfortunately, Robinson ended up getting injured in the fight.

New Rules For How AEW Continental Classic Winner Will Be Crowned

AEW is on the road to crown the next Continental Classic winner, but how the next AEW Continental Champion will be crowned has changed. On the November 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, it was confirmed that the winner will be crowned at AEW Worlds End, just like last year’s tournament.

Unlike last year though, the semi-finals will also take place at AEW Worlds End, meaning three Continental Classic matches at the pay-per-view. In addition to this change, the tournament will see the winner of the Gold League will face the runner-up of the Blue League, and the winner of the Blue League will face the runner-up of the Gold League. Last year, it was the winners and runners-up of the same league who faced each other to earn a spot in the finals.

This week’s Dynamite saw the tournament get underway, with Shelton Benjamin defeating Mark Briscoe in the Blue League to earn three points. Claudio Castagnoli and Brody King both earned three points in the Gold League with wins over Ricochet and Darby Allin respectively.

The winner of this year’s AEW Continental Classic will be crowned the Continental Champion, a title currently held by Kazuchika Okada. The Elite member was automatically selected for the tournament, where the odds aren’t in his favor. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest from the AEW Continental Classic, as fans are in for some exciting action in this round-robin tournament.

Wrestlers Announced For AEW Continental Classic 2024

The AEW Continental Classic is returning, and the names who will compete in this year’s round-robin-style tournament have now been revealed. AEW have confirmed the following 12 wrestlers for the 2024 Continental Classic:

Blue League:

  • AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada
  • Kyle Fletcher
  • AEW TNT Champion Daniel Garcia
  • Mark Briscoe
  • Shelton Benjamin
  • The Beast Mortos

Gold League:

  • Darby Allin
  • AEW Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli
  • Will Ospreay
  • Ricochet
  • Brody King
  • Juice Robinson

This year’s tournament will be the second of its kind, and we will see a handful of returning faces. Brody King, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, and Mark Briscoe all competed in last year’s Classic, which was ultimately won by Eddie Kingston.

The AEW Continental Classic

The AEW Continental Classic sees two divisions compete in round-robin rules, meaning everyone from each division faces one another in singles action. Like most soccer leagues, winners obtain three points per match and matches ending in a draw see one point given to each participant.

The tournament will be held until Contential Rules, which include:

  • Matches will have a twenty-minute time limit.
  • No other wrestlers are allowed at ringside.
  • Outside interference is prohibited under the threat of a one-point deduction.

The winners of the two divisions will face off in the finals. The winner of that match will become the AEW Continental Champion. As the current champion, Kazcuhika Okada was automatically eligible for the tournament.

Daniel Garcia Brings Back Old TNT Title Belt, Announces Entry Into Continental Classic

Daniel Garcia has declared his entry into the upcoming Continental Classic tournament after picking up a huge victory at tonight’s Full Gear 2024 PPV.

The 26-year-old had set his sights on the TNT Championship after returning to the company and announcing his re-signing in Early October.

He challenged Jack Perry for the title at the latest AEW PPV. Perry tried to use his usual shenanigans to win the match. He distracted the referee by bringing the TNT title belt into the ring and low-blowed Garcia when the ref went to dispose the belt.

Daniel Garcia managed to kick out, however. He then delivered a couple of piledrivers to Perry and locked him into the Sharpshooter for the win.

Daniel Garcia Makes Big Announcement

The new TNT Champion took part in the post-show media scrum after Full Gear 2024. Garcia got rid of the custom title belt Perry had hand-painted and brought back the older design for the title during his appearance.

The young star went on to announce his entry into the 2024 Continental Classic tournament. The competition will begin at this Wednesday’s Dynamite on November 27.

DC has prior experience in the C2 tournament. He took part in the inaugural Continental Classic in 2023 as well. Garcia was in the blue league and he finished the tournament with three points.

Kazuchika Okada gets an automatic entry into the tournament as the defending Continental Champion. The full list of talents participating this year should be revealed on Wednesday.
