AEW’s television deal with Warner Brothers Discovery is set to expire at the end of 2024. The next year will be a very important one for Tony Khan, as he looks forward to what is next for his television shows. Tony Khan is committed, but that brings a very important question about WBD’s interest.
AEW Possible Television Problem
Tony Khan has commented in the past about how strong AEW’s deal is with Warner Brothers Discovery. Still, the possibility is out there that AEW may not retain that platform for their next set of television deals.
During 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff discussed how Tony Khan is committed to the product and ‘in it for the long haul, but he also questioned what that means if they don’t get renewed by Warner Bros Discovery.
“Let me make it simple. If in fact, they lose WBD, Warner Brothers Discovery, if they’re no longer part of that platform. I’m not sure where they’re going to go. It’s going to be a smaller cable outlet. I don’t see a big cable outlet [picking them]. And this whole thing with Paramount and WBD, that’s such a wildcard. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of variables that’s gonna throw into the equation. It could be really good for AEW. Whenever that is, the Paramount WBD thing if it actually becomes a reality. Because it’s too soon to know if it’s real or not. But if it becomes a reality, and there’s a merger there, it can either be the absolute stake through the heart of AEW or it can be the golden ticket. We don’t know. But in a case where it’s not the golden ticket and AEW finds itself on the outside looking in and WWE is now the television partner for Paramount WBD or whatever that ends up looking like.”
“I don’t know where Tony’s gonna go. Because the world is getting so small. Vertical integration, you’re looking at probably two or three companies that own everything. Where are you going to go? What cable outlet are you going to go to that isn’t owned by NBC Universal, Paramount. Where are you going and what do you have to sell? Not much. Here’s what you get to sell, ‘Hey, we were on Turner for five years and prime time. Over the last five years, our audience has deteriorated. But we want to be on your network.’ I don’t want to sell that. I wouldn’t want to be the person assigned to try to sell that story.”
Nothing is set in stone yet, and this is all hypothetical at this point. Still, it is enough to get people talking, because there are some big rumors about the upcoming television landscape, and where AEW falls into that.
Warner Brothers Discovery Interested In WWE RAW
There is reported interest in WWE from Warner Bros Discovery. WWE has not found a new home for RAW yet, and that new deal will go into effect in October 2024.
The recent rumor is that CM Punk’s WWE return brought WBD interest. That could present another obstacle for Tony Khan if WWE is able to secure Warner Brothers Discovery as the new home of RAW.
AEW has a few people who are out of action for one reason or another. Right now, Rebel is on the verge of breaking a huge streak in her career, because she hasn’t been seen on television in a very long time.
Rebel hasn’t been on AEW television in quite some time, but she’s still been under contract with the company. Now, we have a bit of an update about her current status.
Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that Rebel hasn’t been backstage much during her absence from AEW television. She is open to make a television return, and there are currently some internal talks to make that happen.
When asking around, we’re told that Rebel hasn’t been backstage much during her absence from All Elite Wrestling, but has been open to returning to TV if asked. When we followed up on that, we were told there were some internal talks about her possibly being back on television, but specifics or a likelihood of that happening wasn’t revealed. We were told there weren’t working plans for her to wrestle. She has publicly expressed her desire to wrestle on the indies next year.
Rebel has been on television every year since 2014 as part of some pro wrestling company. This might change this year if she doesn’t wrestle, because she hasn’t been seen in 2023.
Rebel used to appear on a regular basis, as she worked alongside Britt Baker. However, she hasn’t been on television since Britt Baker turned babyface. It was also noted that Rebel also quit her job in the makeup department at AEW.
We will have to see if Rebel makes a return to television any time soon. Right now, there are a lot more questions than answers about her current absence.
What’s your take on Rebel’s absence from AEW television? Do you miss seeing her around? Let us know what you think by engaging with us on social media!
WWE and AEW often run the same markets, but there was an issue with Tony Khan’s company booking a lot of the same venues at times. It appears that issue is in the past.
In June, Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE was actively trying to prohibit their venues from booking AEW events. It was written:
“There is an interesting note that in arenas that do rent to both AEW and WWE, WWE has put clauses in its deals that AEW can’t run a certain number of weeks before or after the WWE show, and also that AEW and the arena can’t announce the show or sell tickets until after the WWE show has taken place.”
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that WWE is no longer blocking AEW from running certain venues. The Coca Cola Coliseum in Toronto was cited as an example, because AEW just announced a show at that venue, despite the fact that WWE is running the same building. Dave Meltzer reports:
It is notable that the new owners are not as vigilant, or maybe because of the lawsuit, regarding AEW having dates get out and tickets put on sale in buildings they are running shows in. AEW announced its return to Toronto even though WWE has a show in the same Coca Cola Coliseum
WWE’s current antitrust lawsuit with MLW may have also played into the company altering their tactics. They used to have a much different mindset toward the idea of AEW running the same venues that they do.
Tony Khan has previously expressed his appreciation for competition in professional wrestling, but he emphasized the importance of ethical practices. During the press conference following Double or Nothing, he noted that this hasn’t always been the case “from the other side.”
A WWE-imposed clause once restricted AEW from booking events seems to be a thing of the past now. We will have to see how this situation pans out in the future.
AEW has been having apparent issues packing their houses in recent memory as well. Either way, WWE will not stop Tony Khan’s company from running those venues, as they have apparently altered their philosophy on the matter.

AEW is apparently going through some changes, and that called for a big firing this week, one that left many in shock. Kevin Sullivan was fired from his position with Tony Khan’s company, and some are critical of this decision.
We previously reported that Kevin Sullivan was fired from AEW. Not to be confused with the wrestler Kevin Sullivan, AEW’s Sullivan joined AEW in October 2019, making him one of the organization’s most seasoned backstage figures. Prior to his time at AEW, he had an extensive background in the wrestling industry, having served as Vice President of Production and an executive producer during his tenure with IMPACT Wrestling.
Kevin Sullivan Departs AEW
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Kevin Sullivan, who has been with AEW since they started the company, was fired in a surprising fashion. Nobody saw it coming, as Michael Mansury simply told Sullivan that they’re going in a new direction for 2024. Meltzer wrote:
“The story going around was Mansury told Sullivan that morning that they were moving in another direction in 2024.
Sullivan had no idea it was coming and was given no real explanation as to why, just that it was a Mansury decision.
People in the division didn’t even know that Mansury was Sullivan’s boss, noting that among those who worked in production that was never made clear.
The story in production is that nobody else was expected to be cut, but it was a team created by Sullivan so they are his guys.”
Tony Khan reportedly faced criticism within AEW due to a recent firing that surprised many in the company. Kevin Sullivan held the position of Vice President of Post Production, and his termination left people within AEW feeling shocked by the decision. Some wondered why Tony Khan didn’t step in and stop this from happening as well.
Kevin Sullivan had been with AEW since its early days, earning respect behind the scenes. He also had played a pivotal role in building the post-production team, primarily based in Nashville.
It appears that AEW is going to go in a different direction production-wise in 2024. They no longer needed Kevin Sullivan around to fulfill his duties. At this time, Sullivan’s firing is the only one that is expected, but he did leave a team of his curated guys behind in AEW.
What’s your take on AEW going in a different direction with production in 2024? How will that change things for fans watching at home? Let us know what you think by engaging on social media!
A former name from All Elite Wrestling will make his return to the promotion next week, Tony Khan has confirmed.
2022 saw several names depart the All-Elite promotion, the majority of which having signed three-year deals with the company upon its launch in 2019.
Of course, the biggest loss for AEW last year was Cody Rhodes, who has since become WWE’s top babyface and possibly the next World Champion.
Stu Grayson
In May of last year, it was announced that Stu Grayson had left AEW, after he and the promotion failed to come to terms over a new deal.
In later reports, it was reported that a difference over money had been a stumbling block in negotiations and that a lack of consistent TV time was also a factor.
While Grayson is no longer under contract, the Dark order alum will make his return to AEW next week as part of a six-man tag-team match.
Grayson will team with Evil Uno and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to face the Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli.
AEW President announced Grayson’s return on Twitter.
In AEW's debut in Winnipeg + first 2023 international event, Hangman Page & Evil Uno call in Canada's own Stu Grayson to fight the BCC Wednesday night! pic.twitter.com/97rUqAKweB
It shouldn’t be too surprising that Grayson is back, as at the time of his release, it was reported that the door had not shut on his return.
Next Week’s Dynamite
The return of Stu Grayson will be just part of a stacked AEW Dynamite, which will be the promotion’s first Dynamite in Winnipeg.
AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy will face Jeff Jarrett to determine the first AEW International Champion.
New AEW Trios Champions the House of Black will face The Elite and the Jericho Appreciation Society in title action.
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill will put her title and her strike on the line against a yet-to-be-named opponent, while AEW World Champion MJF will have his ‘re-Bar Mitzvah.’
AEW‘s latest edition of Dynamite went down on (3/1/23) from the Cow Palace in Daly City, California! With just four days until the Revolution pay-per-view, Powerhouse Hobbs won the Face of the Revolution ladder match and the team of AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy and Danhausen won the Casino Battle Royale match!

We then see an exclusive look at Jon Moxley speaking after last week’s episode of Dynamite. A bloodied, mangled, Moxley warns ‘Hangman’ Adam Page that while he’s a good person and a good professional wrestler, he’s not the same type of ‘animal’ that he (Moxley) is. Moxley says there’s only room for one animal in AEW and it’s him.
The Elite’s music hits and the AEW World Trios Champions are on the stage but the lights go out and the House of Black are here! The lights go back out, we hear a bunch of commotion, and when the lights come back up, Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews are hoisting the trios titles as Julia Hart flank the trio.

Takeshita rushes the ring and he and Hobbs unload hard strikes on one another. Everyone’s brawling once again and Andretti takes out Guevara on the outside with a dive over the top rope. Andretti walks along a nearby ladder and ends up on top with Guevara and he sends Guevara crashing down with a suplex onto a ladder and Guevara took an odd spill, lets hope he’s OK. Komander climbs the ladder and wallops Fox with a dive onto the outside and everyone is down at ringside. Komander is up first and walks the ladder that’s set up like a table, Takeshita follows him and plants Komander with a diving Blue Thunder Bomb onto the mat and the crowd is white hot for this one!
Takeshita climbs the ladder, Andretti springboards himself into the ring and onto the ladder, where he and Takeshita exchange strikes atop the ladder. Daniel Garcia rushes down and flips the ladder over and takes out both Andretti and Takeshita. Garcia helps Guevara set up quite the contraption on the outside with steel chairs and a ladder and they set up Andretti on their newly built ladder/table. Guevara climbs a nearby ladder and nails Andretti with a swanton bomb! Garcia drags Guevara into the ring and helps him climb the ladder but Takeshita comes in and dispatches both members of the Jericho Appreciation Society. Takeshita begins the climb but Hobbs tosses him out of the ring and climbs the ladder and retrieves the ring! Powerhouse Hobbs is the Face of the Revolution!

After the match, Hobbs grabs his ring and gets in Joe’s face at the commentary desk. Wardlow comes down, as does security and Wardlow dispatches every member of security as Joe sneaks away and we head to a commercial break.

Christian challenges Perry to a match at Revolution and says Perry is ‘just like his dad’ and is a ‘no talent hack’. The lights go out and we see a video of Perry unburying something with flashes of Cage’s attack on him from last week’s show. We then see a tombstone with Christian Cage’s name on it and Cage walks out of the ring.

Bryan says he was forced to retire seven years ago and he said that if you fight for your dreams, you dreams will fight for you. MJF’s music hits and out comes the AEW World Champion. MJF tells production to cut his music and Bryan tells MJF to ‘shutup’. Bryan says he heard enough from MJF and says that MJF needs to stop thinking he deserves everything. Bryan says MJF has done nothing to earn anything he believes that he deserves and says that MJF has done nothing to fight for anything but the one thing MJF does deserve, was his fiancé leaving him like she did. Bryan says MJF is the opposite type of person he’d want his kids to marry and unlike MJF, who was ‘born with a silver spoon in his mouth’, he (Bryan) fought for everything. Bryan says before he came to AEW, he had a job that would’ve made sure he could do anything he ever wanted but he left to come to AEW because he wanted to fight and become AEW World Champion. Bryan says MJF better be ready to fight for everything in his life on Sunday night at AEW Revolution for the entire 60 minutes of their Iron Man match because if he doesn’t, he’s going to get his ‘f***ing head kicked in!’. MJF storms out, Bryan celebrates with the fans in attendance as the show goes off-the-air!
This week’s emotional tribute show to Jay Briscoe was a huge night for AEW, but wasn’t approved until very late in the game.
Briscoe died last Tuesday in a car accident, mere minutes from his home in Laurel, Delaware. He was 38.
Both Jay and Mark had previously been banned by WBD from appearing on AEW programming over controversial comments Jay made a decade ago.
Tribute Show
This week’s show went off well, but there were several changes made to the show before it went live.
Fightful Select reports that prior to Tuesday, it didn’t appear that Mark Briscoe’s match against Jay Lethal was happening.
AEW had to move “many things around” to make the match a reality, and Ian Riccaboni was flown in just hours before the show.
The AEW TNT Championship match between Darby Allin and Buddy Matthews was the originally scheduled main event of the show.
That match had some time trimmed to add to the Briscoe-Lethal match, and the same happened with the Acclaimed’s therapy segment.
One source said it was impressive how they were able to provide Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal as much time as they needed without compromising anything else that was advertised.
Dalton Castle was at the show and came to sit front row to cheer on Mark Briscoe, who defeated Lethal in the main event.
Those working in AEW who spoke to Fightful said they were very happy with how the show went.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was an emotional show, but one top name from the company could not attend.
This week’s Dynamite was a tribute to Jay Briscoe, who died earlier this month in a car accident near his home in Laurel, Delaware.
Dynamite saw Jay’s brother Mark make his AEW debut and defeat Jay Lethal in the main event of the show.
Visa Issues
In addition to a stacked show, Dynamite saw the rosters of AEW and Ring of Honor appear to support Mark, but Kenny Omega wasn’t among them.
According to Fightful Select, the self-proclaimed ‘Best Bout Machine’ wanted to be at the AEW tapings “but has been battling visa issues” in recent days.
Omega has not appeared for AEW since he and the Young Bucks regained the AEW Trios Championships from Death Triangle on the January 11, 2023, episode of Dynamite.
It remains unclear when Omega will be able to return to TV, and the former World Champion missed much of 2022 due to injuries and his post-All Out suspension.
Tribute Show
Even without Omega, this week’s Dynamite was an exceptional affair in memory to one of the most established names in Ring of Honor history.
Dynamite saw AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin retain his title against Buddy Matthews, while JungleHook defeated Matt Hardy and ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page.
Bryan Danielson continued his winning ways in his efforts to get a shot at MJF, by defeating ROH Six-Man-Tag Team Champion Brian Cage.
Ruby Soho defeated Toni Storm in a match that was meant to be a triple-threat but was changed due to Britt Baker’s injury.
AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Jay Lethal
Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh were barred from ringside, but at the beginning of the match they entered through the crowd to sit front row. The members of The Best Friends and Danhausen joined them in the audience. Lethal hit Cassidy with a Lethal Injection but the champion managed to roll out of the ring. After the Best Friends had enough of Jarret & Co, they poured popcorn on Sonjay Dutt. Jarrett tried to interfere in the match by handing his guitar to Lethal, but Danhausen intercepted it. This distraction leads to Lethal getting back in the ring and getting hit with the Orange Punch for the pin.
Winner: Orange Cassidy by pinfall.
Jay Lethal wore a Briscoe armband during the match to honor Jay Briscoe.
Dutt wants to fight Orange Cassidy after the match Lethal and Jarrett hold him back
We get a video package for KUSHIDA vs. Darby Allin for the TNT Championship.
Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)

Winner: Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) by pinfall.
The Gunns come out to cut a promo during the time slot where The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn were advertised. The Acclaimed come out and Austin Gunn has production cut the music. Max Caster tells production to mute Austin’s mic and restart their music. He then proceeds to do his freestyle.
Billy Gunn separated The Gunns and The Acclaimed after things got physical. He shamed both teams and then announced that they will all be attending family therapy next week.
Hangman says to Renee that he wants to mend some fences but won’t get too specific. He also seemed to have something he wanted to say to Jon Moxley after checking on his health, but he once again held his tongue.
Chris Jericho joined the commentary team for this match. Starks walked the ropes in Hager’s hat for a fun spot. After avoiding a lot of distraction and interference from the JAS, Ricky hit Hager with a Spear. In a relatively short match, Ricky Starks gets the win over Hager.
Winner: Ricky Starks by pinfall.
Starks rushed through the crowd to avoid the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Jericho challenges Action Andretti and Ricky Starks to a tag team match with Sammy.
Daniel Garcia will be facing Action Andretti on Rampage. If he wins, he will replace Sammy Guevara next week on Dynamite.
Bryan Danielson vs. Bandido
They start off with a handshake. Bandido was able to hold Danielson up in a stalling suplex for at least 30 seconds. He fought hard to get out of the Lebell Lock by getting his foot on the rope. Bandido hit Danielson with a 21-plex, but he kicked out at 2. After a great exchange, Danielson landed a Busaiku Knee for the win.
Winner: Bryan Danielson by pinfall.
Bryan and Bandido both wore armbands to honor Jay.
Saraya cut a promo with Hikaru Shida and Toni Storm. Toni decided to stand with Saraya against the homegrown women’s wrestlers. Saraya is very upset with Shida for throwing her kendo stick in the ring last week.
It was announced that Brian Cage will be Bryan Danielson’s opponent next week. MJF then offered Cage an undisclosed amount of money to break Danielson’s arm. He then slapped Cage to motivate MJF to feel hate.
Toni Storm vs. Willow Nightingale
Saraya joined Toni Storm at ringside. Willow and Toni shook hands. Shida disregarded what Saraya told her and came to the ringside area. Willow hits the Cannonball, but Toni kicks out. Saraya gets involved and distracts Willow and Toni gets the roll up for the win.
Winner: Toni Storm by pinfall.
After the match, Toni and Saraya get in the ring and beat down Willow turning heel in the process. Shida gets in the ring and Ruby Soho runs down to help out Willow.
TNT Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. KUSHIDA
KUSHIDA is joined by two members of the New Japan Dojo; DKC and Kevin Knight. Darby Allin is joined by Sting. The Coffin Drop was countered early on. Throughout the match, KUSHIDA attempts to pick Allin limb from limb. KUSHIDA locked in the Hoverboard lock and the members of the NJPW Dojo tried to get Sting to throw in the towel. Darby maneuvered KUSHIDA into a very technical pin to get the three.
On Tuesday, Jamin Pugh, known to the wrestling world as Jay Briscoe, was killed in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware.
According to his wife, Ashley, their daughters were also injured in the accident. Their daughter, Gracie, had back surgery on Wednesday morning. Their other daughter, Jayleigh “has some pretty serious injuries, but is stable and resting!” She asked for prayers for all of them.
The first match of the night was Jay Lethal vs. Orange Cassidy. Lethal wore a black armband that read “Briscoe”. During the match, Best Friends were in the crowd. They each wore a black armband that read “Jay”.
On commentary, Excalibur talked about Briscoe and said more was coming.
The Young Bucks also wore black armbands that said “Jay” with a red heart on them. They also paid tribute with a Doomsday Device, a signature of the Briscoes.
Bryan Danielson and Bandido both wore black armbands that read “Jay”. Before getting to the ring, Bandido kissed his fingers and pointed to the sky.
After the match, commentary was shown on camera. Excalibur and Taz were also wearing black armbands.

MJF read an email William Regal after The Firm attacked him. Regal’s email said that he saw the potential in MJF to become the greatest villain of all time and said he must grab the brass ring instead of the Dynamite Diamond Ring this time.
Maxwell said William Regal wanted MJF to leave Jon Moxley an emotional scar so he will never forget the day Maxwell outsmarted him. MJF brought up The Firm and claimed that he doesn’t hold any resentment. Maxwell said he’s above that and claimed that he’s above the AEW World Championship as well.

He said he hopes they sign him in WWE before suggesting Hollywood may win the bidding war because he’s tired of looking at wrestling fans.
MJF claimed that the fans’ happiness will soon turn to resentment because they are fickle. Maxwell added that his haters will be tuning in every week. MJF said he’s a special attraction, so Triple B will be defended very rarely and fans will have to reach into their pockets to buy a PPV.
Maxwell stated he’s going to have a title reign that will make Bruno Sammartino roll in his “shitty little grave”. Friedman added that his reign of terror has just begun. He thanked Regal for giving him the brass knuckles and then punched him in the back of the head.

CM Punk didn’t appear on this week’s AEW Dynamite, but his presence was certainly felt on Tony Khan’s latest episode on TBS.
Punk has been missing from AEW programming since All Out, due to the backstage fight that took place after the September Pay-Per-View.
With the third-party investigation into the matter concluded, the Elite have been brought back to TV, but it is believed that Punk’s days with AEW are coming to an end.
Dynamite
This week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Elite face AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle in the second match of their best-of-seven series.
Throughout the match, the Elite made reference to Punk and what happened at All Out.
At one point, Kenny Omega bit Pac’s arm, referencing Punk’s trainer Ace Steel biting his arm during the All Out brawl.
Later in the match, Omega would also use the GTS, while Matt Jackson would deliberately fail to hit a Buckshot Lariat, a move Punk messed up during his All Out bout with Jon Moxley.
The Death Triangle would win on Dynamite, going 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.
The Response
The Elite made plenty of references to Punk, despite Kenny Omega’s recent comments that people should move on from All Out.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said these digs did not go unnoticed by Punk’s camp.
“Man, I know that there are people close to cm punk. Boy were they not happy with that six-man tag.”
Dave Meltzer.
Punk has not publicly commented on this week’s AEW Dynamite at this time.
It has been reported that many in AEW have refused to work with the former World Champion again if he is brought back.
This week’s AEW Dynamite may have been in CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois, but not everyone in the Windy City is a fan of the former World Champion.
Punk hasn’t appeared for AEW since All Out, and was suspended after the show for his role in the backstage fight.
With the investigation into the matter concluded, it is believed that Punk’s time with the company is finished, with reports that AEW are seeking to buy out his contract.
Dynamite Chants
Even before this week’s Dynamite began, the Elite were expecting a feisty crowd, as the Young Bucks’ Twitter profile reflected.
Sure enough, the crowd was full of chants during the Elite’s match with AEW Trios Champions Death Triangles, as chants of “F*** The Elite!” were heard when Omega and the Bucks were on offense.

Bryan Danielson def. Sammy Guevara in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match
Bryan Danielson faced Sammy Guevara in a 2 out of 3 Falls match in the main event of this week’s Dynamite. Chris Jericho will defend the ROH Championship against Danielson, Guevara, and Claudio Castagnoli in a 4-Way match at Full Gear.
Tay Melo kept getting involved early and Sammy capitalized on the distraction. The referee warned Tay and Sammy started arguing with him. Guevara bashed Danielson with a microphone a few times and the first fall ended in a DQ. Sammy kept hitting Danielson with a microphone and posed in the ring as Dynamite went a commercial break.
When Dynamite returned, Guevara hit the GTH for a pinfall. Danielson tried to battle back and went for a Flying Headbutt but Geuvara dodged it. Sammy applied a Crossface in the middle of the ring. Danielson escaped and AEW went to the final commercial break of the show with the falls tied at 1-1.
Back from the break, Tay Melo was kicked out of the ringside area as Danielson was busted open. Sammy and Bryan traded punches in the corner. Danielson hit a Suplex and tied Sammy up in the Tree of Woe. Danielson unloaded a bunch of Yes Kicks as the crowd chanted along. Danielson hit a Dropkick and perched Guevara up on the top rope.
Sammy hit a Shooting Star Press onto Danielson outside the ring and rolled him back inside. Guevara went for a springboard Cutter but Danielson countered into the LeBell Lock. Sammy was able to reach the ropes and the match continued. Sammy applied the Walls of Jericho on Bryan in the middle of the ring but Danielson got to the ropes to break it up.
Danielson turned Guevara inside out with a Running Knee but didn’t go for the cover. Guevara hit an awesome springboard DDT and went for a Senton but Bryan got his knees up. Danielson unloaded a bunch of elbow strikes before applying the LeBell Lock once again. Guevara tried to get to the bottom rope but Bryan locked the hold in deeper. Sammy eventually gave up and Danielson won the great main event.
The action didn’t end when this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite went off the air.
Last night’s episode aired from the Chesapeake Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, and saw Tony Khan’s promotion continue on the road to Full Gear.
The show is most notable for the debut of WWE Hall of Famer ‘Double J’ Jeff Jarrett, who has signed as the promotion’s Director of Business Development.
Joe and Wardlow
In the main event of the show, ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe put his title on the line against Brian Cage.
In an unsurprisingly physical match, Joe got the win via submission, but he was attacked by the Gates of Agony and other members of The Embassy.
The show ended with TNT Champion Wardlow running the group off, before being attacked by Powerhouse Hobbs, who ended AEW Dynamite by raising the title in the air.
According to several fan reports, Powerhouse Hobbs went backstage while the referee checked on Wardlow after the show.
Samoa Joe got back into the ring and shook hands with Wardlow, and the two champions raised hands before leaving.
Matt Hardy
After Wardlow and Joe left, Tony Khan came out and introduced Matt Hardy, but the pair were interrupted by Stokely Hathaway and The Firm.
Hathaway told Khan to go to the bank because he owns the contracts for Private Party and Matt, who he called “Matthew Hardy.”
Ethan Page told Hardy that he isn’t going to help him, and touted himself as a future AEW World Champion.
While Page and W. Morrisey’s backs were turned, Hardy hit Hathaway with a Twist Of Fate to send the crowd home happy.
