Swerve Strickland Shares What Fans Can Expect In AEW WrestleDream Return

At AEW WrestleDream, Swerve Strickland will return to our screens in his first appearance since his brutal loss to ‘Hangman’ Page at All Out last month. Anticipation is high for the return of one of AEW’s most popular wrestlers, but what does Swerve Strickland have in mind for this weekend’s pay-per-view?

Speaking to No Contest Wrestling with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Swerve addressed his impending return, and was pleased that fans are hooked on what he has to say over a month after his last appearance.

“I wasn’t even on camera. There’s a lot I can address there. There’s a lot I can address with the current. There is a lot I can address with the future. born. There is a lot I can go into. Maybe the people are so enthralled and emotionally connected to me that I don’t even have to say much.”

When pressed further on what fans can expect at WrestleDream, Swerve added:

“You can always expect the next evolution of me with the subtleties. Maybe my hair is different. Maybe my look is different. Something is different. You’ll feel something different in the air… people are anticipating a return of who I am, what I have to bring and what’s different, what’s new, and what old things I ‘I’m going to address.”

One man who’ll be very interested in what Swerve has to say upon his return is MVP, who has arrived in AEW with the intent of managing Strickland. MVP recently brought in Shelton Benjamin as his head of complaints, and a business card with the ‘Hurt Syndicate’ branding has indicated MVP is seeking to start a faction, presumably with Swerve involved. While Strickland has yet to return to AEW programming, he has made clear he’s at least interested in hearing what MVP has to say.

AEW WrestleDream 2024

AEW WrestleDream will take place on October 12 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, Swerve Strickland’s hometown. A stacked 10-match card, including seven title matches, will accompany Strickland’s return.

Fans in the US will have the choice of using B/R Live or Triller TV to watch WrestleDream, while fans outside the U.S. will use Triller TV. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest from AEW WrestleDream including breaking news and live results.

Tony Khan Credits Adam Copeland For Physically Helping FEMA Following Hurricane Helene

Adam Copeland and Dax Harwood praised Tony Khan for donating towards the relief efforts after Hurricane Helene and the AEW President wanted to tip the cap back to his stars.

Speaking on the AEW WrestleDream media call, Khan mentioned how Copeland credited him for helping police with Starlink connections in those affected by Hurricane Helene and shared with the media something he believed Copeland wouldn’t want to be shared.

“Adam called me last week at backstage at Collision and he was with FEMA workers and he was working with them, he’s helping them. And they were digging bodies out and, and they were dealing with this terrible, terrible tragedy.”

After Copeland credited Khan for his charity, Harwood backed up Copeland’s story stating that all it took for Tony to contribute was “one ask.” Khan noted both stars were doing their part in North Carolina. Cash Wheeler set up a GoFundMe (donate here) for those in western part of the state that has nearly tripled the $25,000 goal.

“Adam and Dax and Cash and everybody chipping in on the relief efforts and the hurricane problem and as the damage and God forbid the loss of life and all these things start to become a reality, it’s terrible.”

Khan went on to note how busy he’s been with promoting WrestleDream and dealing with the travel issues stemming from Hurricane Helene, but seeing and hearing about all the damage puts matters in perspective and made clear that this past episode of Dynamite was certain to have an 800 number where fans could donate if they were able.

“I care about [AEW] so much what we’re doing and yet, I would be remiss not to bring the charitable aspect of this end of the show and to try to get people to donate…

“It wasn’t all about promoting AEW on TBS last night. It’s also about promoting hurricane relief and whatever we can do to help people.”

If you’d like to donate to any of the non-profits on the ground for those in North Carolina, below is a screenshot of the QR codes presented on AEW Dynamite.

Main Event: AEW World Championship Match

Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley

The centerpiece of WrestleDream 2024 is undoubtedly the AEW World Championship match between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. These two Blackpool Combat Club members have a storied history, dating back to their epic encounter at Revolution 2022.

Now, they’re set to reignite their rivalry in what promises to be a hard-hitting, technical masterpiece. Moxley has been on a tear lately, delivering intense promos and issuing threats to Danielson and AEW as a company in general.

The American Dragon, not to be outdone, has been rallying fan support, asking crowds if they want to see him “kick Moxley’s f*cking head in” and bringing back the intensity he had during his ROH days.

Prediction: While both men are capable of walking away with the gold, our prediction leans towards Bryan Danielson. His recent momentum makes him the slight favorite to retain the AEW World Championship in a match that’s sure to be an instant classic.

Swerve Strickland’s AEW Return Date Confirmed

Former World Champion Swerve Strickland is set to make his AEW return very soon.

The Premier Athlete has not been seen on AEW TV since he suffered a gruesome loss at the hands of Hangman Adam Page in their unsanctioned match at All Out.

The company finally confirmed Swerve’s return on this week’s episode of Dynamite. They announced that Strickland will be making an appearance at the upcoming WrestleDream PPV on October 12:

What’s Next For Swerve Strickland?

Prior to his loss to Adam Page, Strickland had suffered another major defeat at All In. Bryan Danielson ended his 126-day-long reign as the AEW World Champion and saved his career in the process.

That means the former champion has a long road ahead to build himself up again if he plans on pursuing the world title he lost.

There is also the question of The Hurt Syndicate looming around. MVP expressed the desire to work with Swerve upon his AEW debut a couple of weeks ago.

Shelton Benjamin has also made his debut for the company as MVP’s business partner and the debut of Bobby Lashley is highly anticipated.

With all the new players in town, it’d be interesting to see how Swerve will interact with them and if they’ll prove to be friends or foes for the former NXT star.

Chris Jericho Evokes Jay Briscoe, Will Challenge Mark At AEW WrestleDream

Chris Jericho held the ROH World Championship for a handful of months in 2022, in Jericho’s first-ever title reign as part of the promotion. Now, Jericho plans on holding the gold again, and used some shocking tactics to get into the head of champion Mark Briscoe.

On Dynamite’s fifth anniversary, Jericho hosted a Learning Tree segment in the ring with Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Now dubbing himself ‘The Nueve’ Jericho challenged Briscoe to a ROH World Championship match at AEW WrestleDream.

Briscoe came out to accept the match, adding that Jericho’s recent victory over him came thanks to interference by Big Bill. It was here that Jericho sunk to a new low as he said that Mark Briscoe couldn’t beat him before stating that his brother, Jay Briscoe, could have. Jericho went on to say that everyone knows that Mark will never be as good as Jay was. Mark responded by dropping Jericho with a shot to the jaw and promised a Briscoe brother-style ass-whooping at WrestleDream.

Jay Briscoe sadly passed in January 2023 in a car crash, mere minutes from his home in Laurel, Delaware. Tributes to Jay have poured in from the wrestling world and a locker room was named in his memory at the school where his daughters, who were injured in the crash, attend.

The loss of his brother left Mark contemplating retirement, but the remaining Briscoe has not only continued in the ring but is thriving as ROH World Champion. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest from AEW WrestleDream including breaking news and live results.

Tacoma Comic Store Promises Free Books If Bryan Danielson Wins At WrestleDream

At AEW WrestleDream, Bryan Danielson will defend his AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley in what is bound to be a violent contest between the former allies. The match will take place in Tacoma, Washington, just a stone’s throw from Bryan’s home in Aberdeen, and one local comic store has given the American Dragon an incentive to win.

If Danielson retains the gold at WrestleDream on October 12, Destiny City Comics will give away a free comic book to everyone who visits the store the next day. This was confirmed by the store’s owner Ethan, who also has experience in the ring.

Bryan’s match with Moxley won’t just be about the AEW World Championship but the nature of the company itself. Since turning on Danielson at AEW All Out, Moxley has said he and his allies will create something that’ll last for years in AEW, a company that, in Moxley’s eyes, has been overcome with clashing egos. This is a daunting task that Bryan doesn’t “have the stomach for,” hence the betrayal last month in Illinois.

With Danielson being open about his career winding down, and of the opinion that neck surgery is in his near future, high-profile matches such as this one will become less and less frequent soon enough. Until then though, this match could result in a lot of happy comic book readers in the city of Tacoma. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest from AEW WrestleDream 2024, including breaking news and live results from next week’s show in Tacoma, Washington.

Jon Moxley Beats Darby Allin, Will Face Bryan Danielson At AEW WrestleDream

AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson will put the gold on the line against Jon Moxley at AEW WrestleDream following Moxley’s victory on AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite. While Moxley has punched his ticket to potentially regaining the richest prize in All Elite Wrestling, the three-time former champion had little time to celebrate.

After the match, Danielson launched a surprise attack on his former ally, payback for the assault the champion endured at AEW All Out 2024 earlier this month. Danielson even choked Moxley with a necktie, not only delivering payback, but giving fans a nod to his 2010 WWE firing for choking Justin Roberts during the debut of the Nexus. Grabbing the mic, Danielson confirmed that he and Moxley would clash for the AEW World Championship at AEW WrestleDream.

Moxley’s title opportunity comes at the expense of Darby Allin, who had earned a title opportunity by winning the Royal Rampage back in July. There had reportedly been talks of Allin receiving a World Championship run, and whether that’s still the plan or not, it certainly won’t come to fruition at WrestleDream.

AEW WrestleDream will take place on October 12, in Tacoma, Washington, the home state of the American Dragon. With Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir on his side, Moxley will have the numbers advantage, even if Danielson has the crowd on his side. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the latest on this feud as the two former allies prepare to tear each other apart next month at AEW WrestleDream.
